up to 38Mbps - £22.99/mo on 18 month contract zero setup fee with £70 TCB = £19.10/mo effective

- Effective cost per month could be less @ £17.30 if you opt for Line Rental Saver by paying 12 months upfront

TCB cashback confirmation email arrived 30 minutes after placing order.

Fibre with horrible speeds

They throttle supply in busy periods dont they, its in the terms somewhere

And how much do they charge for the "phone" line....

38Mbps at £22.99 including "phone line" with TCB £70 over 18 months = £19.10 a month

midhukd2 - I did check and this is a different deal.

The price is £22.99/month rather than £24.99/month before cashback and the term is 18 months instead of 12 months

Fibre with horrible speeds

Are Plusnet speeds really bad?

I ask as their online speed checker said a guaranteed minimum of 34Mb/s download speed for our address.

I realise the upload speed is low for fibre at only 2Mb/s

Ah, looks like they have a new offer at least weekly...

Also a relevant comment on the other thread about throttling (or lack of it nowadays).

Yes it's horribly bad, thats normal speeds for copper, we get around 60-72mbps where I live with BT Infinity 2 (alot of people use our internet, big family lol)

They all have similar speeds, after all it's the same cabling regardless of provider.
Fibre will be much quicker than ADSL and the costs nowadays are similar (probably be cheaper if you haven't switched in the last year or so) so you'd be daft not to (normal or max depending on circumstances / current offers / time).
With fibre, they'll adjust your line for the first couple of weeks to get you the best speed.

Plusnet cooling Off Period.
For broadband, if line speed (after the initial 10 days) is lower than the estimate range quoted by Plusnet you may cancel within the first 90 days of the contract without paying an early termination fee. This is also subject to Plusnet making improvements where possible.

It's cheaper if you pay upfront for the line rental too

I actually quite keen on this deal as my contract with sky normal broadband is due to expire on the 31st Oct. However, should I take these following feedback with a grain of salt?

There is a lot of bad but I know people rarely write good ones when things should be running as expected.

I wish people made comments based on their experience but I guess this is the way things work on hukd.
There seems to be lot of hate about plusnet. I've only been their mobile customer and they been fine. Now switched to broadband as well. Let's see how it goes.
I'm not from Yorkshire by the way.

Plusnet's call centres are in Sheffield and Leeds. They also outsource to Capita.

it was fine when i had broadband off them, nothing wrong at all apart from a billing issue which was my fault because i pressed back button and they charged me twice lol.

£10 for fibre + LR with sky I'll stick with sky

Been with them for almost 3 years now having downgraded to this package as higher speeds are no longer available to us. Haven't seen any throttling and we get 34-38 consistently. Only disappointment is the upload speed which I only recently found out about.

I'm near my exchange so I get a good ADSL speed, only reason for switching to fiber for me would be to get better upload speeds, I always thought minimum fiber upload was 10mb/s, can someone confirm that this is 2mb/s

Internet speed Tools report 40mb download speeds - but my actual download speed are absolutely never greater than 10mb - So although I have no complaints its a bit of a con for me.

There will be something about it varies depending on the areas, but I didn't have this claptrap
with virgin . PlusNet claim I have a fibre optic line but goes through my telephone line- whereas Virgin had dedicated fibre optic line.

Declined my cashback haven't given a reason on the previous offer.

From Plusnet help page:-
Traffic Prioritisation is not applied to Unlimited, Unlimited Fibre or Unlimited Fibre Extra.

Plusnet's 38mb fibre offering is a 40/2 profile. Pretty poor. Should be 40/10 like most others.

Indeed. It's not called God's own country for nowt.

For me plusnet were ok, then terrible with customer support.

As others mentioned same phone lines, same sockets, however out of 3 providers only PlusNet's Downtime for me was measured in weeks, also fobbed off, always given excuses. Currently with BT, was with sky, both had a problem, resolved within 24 hours, one involved an engineer next day, sure problems happen but they get resolved, PlusNet on the other hand, problem with line, oh its not our fault, ifs BT's fault, it'll take 7 days for an engineer, really , sky did it next day? Yes sir 7 days, never plusnets fault, had about 4 weeks downtime with plusnet over 18 months, we were very happy to switch away. Also line speed was slowest with them, using my own fibre router so can't blame isp router, obvious throttling too.

My cashback was also declined, which was one of the reasons i switched to them for a generous cashback offer.

Of you have no trouble it's worth it, but i rate them like TalkTalk, great until you get a problem

Thanks OP! I don't regret this purchase yet but I no doubt will when service starts

It's a shame because I've been with Plusnet before and found them very good.

Yes. But unless you need to upload lots of data eg photos or videos 2mb/s should be ok

Works out less @ £17.30 effective per month, if you opt for the Line Rental Saver by paying 12 months LR upfront at a cost of £197.88 (the subsequent 6 months are charged at £18.99 = £113.94), total LR over 18 months is £311.82

Breaking it down it looks as follows -

Broadband @ £4 x 18 months = £72
Line Saver (12 months upfront) = £197.88
6 Months LR 6 x £18.99 = £113.94
Total Cost of Service = 383.82
Topcashback (currently extra £2.50 today) paying £72.50

Total Cost @ 383.82 - Topcashback @ 72.50 = £311.32/18 = £17.30 effective cost per month

TCB down to £40 for both 38Mb and 76Mb

18 x 22.99 = 413.82 - 40.00 = 373.82 / 18 = 20.77p/m

You gotta be quick, the cashback rate of £70 ended yesterday. However, quidco still paying out £70, also bear in mind my calculations are based on Line Rental Saver which further reduces the total/overal cost of the service.

Oh, big thanks to the OP for posting, I for one took advantage of this deal, surprised the deal never got alot hotter. Cheapest Fibre BB by far. (minus TV)

I got their 76Mbit,end of 18 month contract. Speed was always 70+. Though 1st month was horrible, had their engineer visits twice but they managed to fix the fault..

Started off great with Plusnet then speeds dropped.Customer service decent but now it takes 30min to 45mins to get through. Also noticed it seems throttled at peak times this making online gaming impossible.Time to move on and pay to leave.
