When i got Plusnet back in March you could save more by using Line Rental Saver and paying 12 months of Line Rental upfront

I presume it’s still the same
Edited by: "BrianM" 24th Sep 2019
Is the £70 cashback claimed directly from Plusnet or is it through a cashback site like Quidco or TopCashback?
It's live now. The offer ends in 2 hours.

How are you finding it?

I'm after broadband for our new house but everyone seems to be a similar price and value so not sure who to bite the bullet with.

It’s been rock solid and I have been pleased with it - after paying Line Rental Saver it’s only £5/month plus calls!

A lot better than Vodafone Home Broadband (which isn’t related to their mobile) - this was let down by a rather poor router!
Plusnet billing problems are still ongoing. A few threads on MSE about it.

Thanks for that. That's brilliant. I think that's helped me decide what I'm going to do as Vodafone was who I had been most prone to go with.

For me the Vodafone router could only achieve about 27mbits on a 38mbit service which I thought was due to a long cable run to my FTTC BT Box. Plusnet (who use a rebadged BT Homehub 5 router) could get 38m out of the same line!

If you go through tcb/quidco, then copy and paste the url into the browser stripping out the affiliate tags, you may get the cashback from them as well as the cashback from plusnet directly, however I think most claims are checked manually so wouldn't bank on it

It still is
I signed my parent's up to move from sky's adsl to plusnet and their basic fibre package and I must say, if anything could go wrong, it did! Their customer service department were so inept I was genuinely expecting there to be a knock at the door with camera's pointed at me saying I'd been pranked!

A week with no internet and I eventually gave up on the whole thing and cancelled. They then managed to make a huge mess of the refund process which took over 3 weeks in spite of various promises it would be sorted straight away. To cap it all off, they even sent a cheque, which then took a while to clear - I was told I'd get the money credited back to my account.

After many hours wasted and a week (which ended being 2 as it took me a further week to sort out a replacement service) without internet I was offered £50 in compensation and told that I was lucky as normally they only give £25!

An absolute shower of
i have had several contracts with plusnet, each time i was swayed by offer of cashback (deals i seen on hukd). i had contracts with broadband and several mobile contracts. each time quidco tracks but plusnet has always refused to pay. service is ok but customer service is terrible, promise to do work, upgrade service sending engineers etc. let down several times, wasted days and hours talking to customer services. cant recommend them at all, poor service.
has anybody on hukd ever been paid cashback from plusnet? id be interested to know.
38539254-S40oX.jpgscreenshot of my quidco account, cashback declined even though it tracked, this has happened everytime i tried getting cashback from plusnet (i deleted the date for security reasons)
Plusnet are stupid.. they refused to give me any discount on renewal quoting £33/mo. Told them about Vodafone deal of £23/mo plus an echo dot.. meant absolutely nothing to them.. even after 3 years with them
Just a word of warning. My daughter took Plusnet out for her new flat in Exeter. After paying out for the installation fee, it worked for a few days and now it does not. Has been down longer now than it has worked. Customer services not very proactive. Have promised that it will be working at 1520 today (how they can be so precise is beyond me). Anyway, if it's not working by 1520 today, it's getting cancelled as still just within cooling off period.

Quidco tend to decline the higher amounts. Top cash back more reliable. Imo, quidco pocket the money in the background.

Digressing, but how many times with different retailers via Quidco they refuse. You put in a claim and it just fizzles out to nothing. Nowt you can do.
We have been with PlusNet for several years and our contract will be up in November. It will be interesting to see what happens as we have gone to a BT Smart Hub with 3 discs, so we are committed to either them or BT. My wife works from home and Plugs were constantly dropping connections but these have been totally reliable.

Everyone's experience is different I guess. When I signed contract with Plusnet I was getting 32mbs download speeds however it soon dropped to 19mbs and Plusnet would do nothing about it as it was still within minimum guaranteed line speed. Also their router whilst had good coverage it kept restarting and breaking connection. It's so annoying when you in the middle of something. Whilst it's dual band you can't actually pick if you want to choose 2.4ghz or 5ghz. It will switch automatically but not without breaking connection. I've had loads of trouble and after complaining for so long I gave up. Just turned off 5ghz as not all of my devices were compatible with it.
All in all it's not terrible but if you happy with minimum guaranteed speed and don't mind sticking to single band WiFi it should work for you.

I've been with Plusnet since I was a Uni student waaaaay back in the early noughties, across five houses. I've never had bad service from them (and I may have been lucky there!), and I used to get a great discount from them at each renewal because I'd been with them so long. However, it looks like they don't care anymore - my last renewal just over a year ago ended up just a quid or two cheaper, but only if I lost my weekend and off-peak free calls. So when my renewal is due this December, I'm going to have a proper look at the market and see who can do me a better deal!
Once 5g is widely available they are going to have increase speeds to compete

Thanks for that cold vote, maybe you could share where new customers can get it for £24.95 as opposed to the current price of £27.99 with £75 cashback (effective £23.83 over the 18 months)? That way others can benefit from your more expensive deal?
You get what you pay for. Fine for the average joe. No good for anyone who needs reliability.
