i agree i always found the customer care crap. It use to annoy the life out of me seeing that smug add they used to run saying how good it was
Depending on which companies you regularly deal with (some of the banks for example, partial list over here [linkage]) you can run into issues on Plusnet due to their lack of full support for SMS short codes.

Just a heads up if you currently use these and were unaware that some networks, especially MVNOs, can't or won't support these and it's not great to find this out after changing network.

I left them over 6 months ago & just received cheque for £2-30 that was overcharged!
Awful!
I switched from Vodafone, but am very disappointed with 4G speeds which are, at best, 6Mbs even though it is showing as 4G+. Tried in multiple locations across the country. Fortunately, I don't use it for data that much.
To be fair the only reason I'm not with them at the moment is because I'm on one of those Vodafone Red Entertainment deals. Been with Plusnet on and off for a number of years though and never had an issue and will be back when my contract expires. The lack of short code support can be an issue for some, admittedly. (OP)

I had a few o2 mobile contracts over the years and last month in the space of ten days received 2 cheques and apologies, one for £2 (2011) and the other cheque for almost £9 (2013) for being overcharged during my contract period.Must have been some audit.
Left them about 5 months ago originally, took ages to get a refund on what they had overcharged me

Stupidly went back to them recently in search of signal for a new area but the reception didn't match EE's coverage map at all. I think it's to do with the bands these MVNO's dont have access to vs EE

Back with Voxi now on the 8GB/£10 deal and much happier with signal.

They never totally shut my account in all that time, I would still get monthly bills of £0 but account showed £2.30 balance!
I was past caring after such awful service
I've been with them a few months, better signal than giffgaff and vodafone in my area,

I was on the 9gb for £12.50 30 day contract, called up and they have switched me to this one.

I'm a happy customer so far.
I rate plusnet - they use EE and are quite competitive. My elderly parents are on the £4 a month deal from about 2 years ago. My only complaint was they switched my gran off that deal and blamed her for calling in to upgrade - turned out an advisor had entered the wrong account when making changes from another customer. They resolved it and gave her compensation. I like how you can switch to a better deal with them if you like and the app is great for keeping tabs on usage.
I got 8gb for £10 12 month which can be changed (not cancelled) anytime. Comes with all the O2 priority perks and a great service. Did it via a chat
Thanks OP. May have come at the right time. Virgin have just told all their payg customers (they don't want you any more) and have changed your contract to £2 per day calls. £2 per day texts and £2 per day data from the 18th Nov19.
So called years of loyalty, just thrown on the scrap heap!

Incidently I am already on another phone with plus net and very happy with them, though this deal did not come up when I searched their website before, so appears exclusive to uswitch.

Called them up and they upgraded my two sims to 11GB as we have plusnet broadband at home too.
The guy on the phone was super efficient and quick!
Are these capped at £10/month or can you go over at a further cost?
I'm currently paying £10.50 for 8gb.
Time to upgrade

Yes you can cap buddy
I am on £7 for 2GB but I rarely use half of it.

HOT. Not that I need it.

Just upgraded to 2.5GB for the £7 just in case.

Thanks OP

Plusnet really is a budget network. Speeds are slow compared to EE and the customer support is awful - seems to be going down hill rapidly.

This is my 2nd stint with them & never had an issue over about 2.5 years of use.

Maybe it is because of where you live. I had the same problem with Vodafone but it was just because of where I lived.
Cracking deal this, currently with giffgaff paying £10pm for 6GB so figure night as well give this a go, EE is undoubtedly a better network

I switched to EE and the signal is the same but much faster especially at peak times. All the customer service issues have been in the last 6 months. Before that they were okay.
I just switched to plusnet from three and am very happy With their service and reception. Better than three.
I’m with them currently, their coverage ks absolutely terrible and they do not have the full use of the EE network, only certain wavebands
Got this already, great plan, usually get downloads of 35-45Mbs and uploads of 10-15Mbs. Yes slower than main EE but still perfectly acceptable

Never go with plusnet. They have the worst customer service ever and scammed me for £30 when I cancelled. Its absolutely rediculous how much of a bad experience I had. Trust me the price isn't worth the hassle.
Tempting but lack of data rollover puts me off as I currently have that with ID mobile. Handy when going on holiday.

I had this exact same issue with them. Changed banks everything switched apart from Plusnet. They kept disabling my data every month for like 6 months and I had to phone up to paid by card and reactivate my account.

To be fair some of them really tried to help but others were rude and blamed me and my bank. It’s entirely their system, it shows it’s setup but does not correctly process it for some reason and they are not informed of this. Even if they try to reset it up it still won’t work. You can find many people with similar issues in the Plusnet forum.

In the end I fixed this by porting away then signing up again.

They are cheap for a reason.
Contacted plusnet retentions who just switched this for my son who was on £10 a month with 8gb data, now 11gb data with unlimited texts & minutes. very happy with the service provided.

yes I'm about to leave them they are complete rubbish at sorting stuff out on the phone and you can't do much online, you have to ring up to change anything.

Disagree, I chatted online with them yesterday with an issue. The CSA was definitely English (a bonus nowadays as it’s easier to resolve issues without a language barrier), and he was very helpful. The problem wasn’t a problem in the end, it was a system glitch whereby they emailed me to tell me my data allowance was used up when it wasn’t. Their solution, “download our great app, it’s amazing and tells you lots of cool stuff” (and that’s what they wrote), my solution, SORT YOUR RUBBISH SYSTEM OUT!!!

First problem I’ve had in over a year, not sorted but it’s not a major issue as I now have it on record that the app can be relied on, so woe betide them if it later turns out not to be!! Can’t fault the service agent though.
good speed, reliable network, been with them a while now.

People talking about the refunds, that was an OFCOM clamp down for all networks for overcharging customers when leaving/transferring to other networks, not exclusive to just PLUSNET
Thanks, prompted me to check their site, moved to £7, 4.5GB

You're a second class citizen with these budget mobile providers, with Plusnet compared to BT occasionally I'll struggle to get a 4G signal (like they're bumping me down on certain days), and very occasionally (maybe once or twice) its gone completely. Still a lot better than giffgaff.

PlusNet has worked well for me. Called customer services and was immediately upgraded to the new deal - 60p cheaper and 3gb more than before. Lovely!
I've not had any issues with plusnet since joining them. Perhaps only that they don't allow messages to those premium 5digit numbers

My dad had all sorts of issues though at first, not receiving or being able to send messages.

All seems to be working fine though now
i have orderded one to try in my spare phone,
I left Three, last month, for this deal, and so far everything has been good.

I like the idea of a 30 day rolling contract, which is paid a month in advance. This gives you a lot of flexibility, which I think some under appreciate. No more 12- 18 month contracts for me!
Cheap and cheerful network. Data speeds not the fastest but not that bad either. I've always found the English based customer service ok to be fair. For the price you can't complain.
a lot of complaints about customer service, never had any issues, so rarely call them except to change plan, rung them up for this offer , no hassle they were polite and changed it.
Had one of these a few weeks ago great price but just couldnt get a bar of signal in my home. Everytime i went out i found i had a load voicemails from people that got diverted due to my poor signal. I've hopped on giffgaff instead. Same price but for only 6gb instead of 9. Much better signal though!.....i should say i dont live out in the sticks either and the plusnet advisor told me i should get an excellent coverage in my area.
