Nationalise the whole gravy train. Give every man, woman and child 1 gigabit fiber straight to their home, whether they want it or not. Cheaper for all.

Thiis should be in misc as its a heads up not a deal, however, where does it say anything about mobile charges going up? Bet my £1 deal stays the same despite some fool on here telling everyone they were going up about 6 months ago

I too still stand at £1 p/m lol

When you get the email notifying you there should be this section in the email

We hope you’re happy with your products and services but if you do decide to leave because of these changes, we won’t apply any early termination charges. All we ask is that you call us to tell us within 30 days of getting this email and give us 14 days’ notice.

Because of the price increase by law you can now leave your contract without incurring a penalty !!
Most probably as soon as you tell them you want to leave they will either credit your account with an amount equal to the increase or agree to keep your price plan the same until the end of the term. They bank on customers saying oh its only £1 extra per month so can't be bothered to complain or better still not reading the email until after the 30 day notice is up by then its too late to do anything because of the termination charges.
Just joined plusnet yesterday, I paid for line rental saver, not sure if they will add £1 per month to my bill when price increases but it will still be much cheaper than BT which treat existing customers really poorly. Loyal customers are second class citizens.
Shame quidco hasnt tracked though.

I've been with plusnet for years on the line rental saver, when it goes up all that happens is you pay more next year.

They're also very good at lowering if you haggle. Was on £17.99pm standard, phoned them and got £11.99pm fibre. This kind of thing is useful leverage (though maybe not for you as you've just joined).

Sadly the actual broadband itself has gone downhill and is now perpetually patchy, probably due to their overlords at BT.

Thanks, nice to know, my plusnet hasnt kicked in yet, only rang bt to cancel contract yesterday, didnt know there was a 30 day cancellation period, thought I could cancel when my contract expires in a few days.
Will probably get my mobile contracts with plusnet as well, will move from bt mobile asap, much better deal than bt were offering.

I've searched HUKD and can't find how you got £1 a month mobile! Must have missed it. Care to share? was it a retention?

I did the same as you.
Signed up to plusnet from BT. BT will send you an SMS about services being transferred. Call the number in the text with a query about transfer or something. Gets you straight through to retentions.
Offered me free Infinity 2 and BT sport's for 24 months.
I think Plusnet are brilliant, I get a rock stable 60mbit connection which is absolutely flawless after some initial problems when I first took out the service.

At one point I wasn't paying any line rental or fees for the broadband for 2 years!

Word of warning if you pay up front for line rental saver and plusnet put their prices up mid term yes you can leave but they will not refund your money! That's why this year we didn't go for that.

No email for me yet, only been with them a few months but will happily cancel and go back to BT (with added quidco of course)

They have to let you leave "without penalty". I thought I read this included advance payment refund but have not found the link yet.
Edit: BT being PlusNet. This should help.

Nope! We had about five months left on the contract and they were adamant that they would not refund the money we paid up front for line rental saver and I'm very pushy when it comes to getting my rights!

Article says they were out of order!
Is there anywhere to move to that is cheaper ?
It seems they all have an expensive activation charge now that wipes out any quidco / TCB

I currently pay £25 for line and unlimited fibre. I can't see anyone cheaper even after the £1 rise ( except Sky - but that has a 25Gb usage limit which makes having fibre pointless )
I've not had an email - is this likely to affect people with a fibre unlimited broadband and line rental package? I pay them around £32 a month for both with no call package, after my initial discounted 6 months, with 6mths left to run. what's a better alternative? thanks

As much as I'm sure people would love to leave penalty-free, if you're on some of their introductory offers then presumably you aren't going to be affected by this price rise until your contract ends, and so can't leave because of it?

I've just signed up with TalkTalk. They were £21 per month once you factored in cash back (activation is free). Plusnet were £23 once you factor in activation, cash back and the extra £1 charge for caller ID. TalkTalk fix the price for the contract term and don't do any traffic shaping.
signed back up with plusnet on a 18 contract new deals after my old plusnet contract had expired, will i be able to leave still?

I agree, been with plusnet for years but recently broadband not so good, speeds dropped over all...but who do you move to? came from talktalk to plus net, and a lot of others have poor customer service
I need a comparison site where I can weed out under 50mb deals, think plus net still come out cheapest, but will reneg my deal when I get the email saying going up!
I've just left. No real attempt to keep me but they did offer £1 off my remaining bills until the end of the contact. I ended up choosing Vodafone which is £28 per month for the 76meg fibre (inc £3 customer discount). Note that it is currently £80 cashback through TCB but this didn't work for me when I tried so I had to haggle a bit with Vodafone. Managed to get a small account credit though.
