As usual I am not sure why this is being voted cold. This is the cheapest 512mb 8800gt card that I have seen. PNY might not be my first choice manufacturer but I can't see this as being anything but great value in todays market.

Chris

i have this card and paid £150 i think its a great card and the price is great??

It's been lingering on today only's for the past week at £113 so either they're keen to shift them or i don't know :?

voted hot, cold callers havent a clue

thats more like it 25°

If you are in the marked for a Uber card, keep an eye on the 8800GTX's. The prices are plummeting since the release of the 9800GTX (Which is not significantly better IMO)
Sub £190 already !

ah yes ocuk used to have an email address.

please.at.phone.us ,made me laugh, but good prices.

I've decided i'm holiding out for a sub £150 GTX.. well hopefully

This is FANTASTIC value!! I won't indulge myself but two of these would eat my £300 GTX alive!!!!

Wish I was building a new PC again!!! Great deal(I'd buy two)

Voted HOT!!! Did I read that someone voted this cold? Deary me....

Damn 2 months too late, great price though

!!!BEST DEAL!!!!

They were £165 inc VAT over the weekend.

Ever so slightly off topic, but this is interesting reading - please don't let me distract from the deal though

Dammit I paid £128 for an 8800GT just a week ago, though it is a BFG..

HOT!

Mine was 200 quid at xmas :P
Now I can get gtx for that price!

Ordered.
I have been considering buying a 9600gt,the sonic version from xpertvision but this deal is too good to miss.

Might be a good deal for some.... But due to the fact that it's PNY (bad experience of having owned and returned graphics cards) and the lack of overclocking on this spec of card, it's cold for me.

Anything above £100+ for a graphics I'd expect to overclock with the help of card manufacturers tools.

Hot deal and voted that way.
However I think it is a hot deal in more than just one way.

People have complained about this card running hot, I looked at it but last week bought a Gigabyte 8800GT due to the cooling.
Still, I might have considered this and some fans for my computer to make up the difference in price.
Good deal.

I paid £170 for one of these when they first came out (been sold since due to being skint)

I was able to overclock mine to 740/1000. It beat any of the expensive pre-overclocked ones, and even the (then) £210 GTS model.

Great card. Get two if you can.

excellent deal, however this is a trend atm the 8800's are being dumped by trade.
One of my suppliers was offering me GTX XFX for £125+vat yesterday..

these are killer cards !!! +++hot+++

anyone know if this has the newer larger fans? or the older smaller ones which make the card overheat

and if anyone already owns this ,what are the temps like?

cheers

This was cold? Hah! Well, I've got a birthday present ordered for myself now. Thanks!

The single slot versions of the 8800GT (like This ) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/pimg/GX-147-AS_200.jpg
do have a habit of getting very hot. Mine was 65idle/95load
which was far too hot IMO. I bought the thermalwright after cooler, and it went down to 45Idle/65Load even after I overclocked it too 1000mem/700core .
If you can, get one with th zalman style cooler on the side, like this :

What a deal!

I brought a OC'd 8800GT last week from Zotac via a play.com deal play.com/PC/…nre I got if for £161 with the 5% off voucher code last week, at the time I thought it was a bargain as it has been reviewed as almost as good as a GTX! pclabs.gen.tr/200…gt/ & also a good review on Tom's hardware sight which I cannot find at the moment. But I notice it's on e-buyer.com for £150 now : (
Also Play.com have a Zotac 9800GTX Amp version for £200 coming out, not impressed, only another £40! If only I waited play.com/PC/…tml

But anyway back to the deal, cracking card for the money, if your on a budget, it's a no brainer!

You paid a bit over the odds for that Zotac tbh, these have been under £130 for a good few weeks, yours has higher clocks but they all clock well.

Don't tell me that  lol, I spent like 3-4 days searching the www last week trying to find the best value for money card. I got to a point where I said "right that's it, this is the one" as I know you can spend an entirety researching and trying to find best prices etc. Considering two weeks ago I had absolutely no clue about computer graphics cards at all! I don't think I did too bad, but I suppose it happens when you are a newbie to anything you don't know about. Need to change my mobo & cpu anyway to get the full potential of this GPU anyway, I think I've just opened a whole can of worms

Need any advice on mobo/cpu combos ?

Lol, thanks for the help, but I've gotta cut down my spending for a while. Just upgraded my home CD player too, got a Classe one. So I'm kinda broke lol. In the future I was thinking of getting a Asus P5K series mobo and maybe a intel Q6600 quad core CPU. But like I said not for a while, gotta get my credit card back down.

And then there's the whole thought of, changing my case in the back of my mind. Then maybe getting Vista ultimate 64bit, faster HDD's, CPU & GPU coolers... it never ends lol.

But thanks for asking

the sad bit is these cards manufactured in china they could put a decent fan in for an extra 50 pence, but then the end user says lets buy this other because its 50 pence cheaper.suppose they know what theyre doing.

Wow, didn't think this would do so well! Almost didn't post it in the first place

nVidia supposedly confirmed the GT200 will be out this summer recently, although I couldn't find a press release on their website about it.

That's probably cos the offers expired!

I'm afraid it takes a poster with a lot of heft or several posters to expire an offer. This one is done, it was a "Deal of the Day".

It was a good offer though, I've had my card for a week now.

I've expired it now - thanks.
