I remember paying £80 for a 1gb MP3 player

 good post

WOW ?!?! The longer I wait until I buy these things THE LOWER THEY GET !? LOL ( And yes I know that happens with PC and most other stuff !? )

NiCe!

Voted hot brill find

can this be pass word protected?

It might be ReadyBoost compliant, but an 8gb flash is wasted on this because Vista can only use 4gb (expanded to 8gb with the compression used) for a ReadyBoost cache file.

Also the read/write/random access times aren't brilliant, but not as bad as some others.

Still, a lot of drive for the price. 8gb of space isn't to be sniffed at. Well spotted.

My First 1 Meg Sim £25

My first telegram.............£1-8s

Eeeh, I remember putting in 256kb memory simms.
1.44mb floppies would take months to fill.
A 20mb hard disk was for servers.
A colour laptop (and 486 to boot) was the stuff of dreams and lottery wins. In fact, there was no such thing as lottery wins.
It really wasn't that long ago that 1gb of space was a ridiculous amount,.
Jesus I'm old.
And this is a good deal.

Great deal, cheaper than 2 x 4gb for a change. Technology advances really quickly

Its funny, in the shop I work in an mp3 player came in overpriced at £39.99 just over a year agofor a 512mb mp3 player, which was a high price at the time. Its still in the cabinet, still @ £39.99 lol

I'm still waiting to get 100GB for this price... should be oh 2 years at the rate this market is moving.

I can remember getting tanked up on beer plus a fish and chip supper and still have change from a farthing. LOL!

16gb and 32gb are just around the corner - already in japan, so i'm still going to wait.

flash is still too slow to be particularly useful though, now if someone could come up with a 16gb that does 30mbps read/write for under 30ukp, that would be hot

I remember buying an electric typewriter....learnt to type on a manual;-), my daughter asked me if there were dinosaurs around the other day, and was I in black and white when I was younger...I am 40 this year btw.

you bunch of old sods! as for the comment about ready boost, can't you use 4gb for data and 4gb for readyboost? i'm fairly certain you can, cracking buy at this price!

You think you have problems - I can only just remember being 40!

Great find by the way.

Chris

Yeah, you can use the spare space for data I guess, but the whole idea of ReadyBoost is that the drive stays plugged into your PC, which sort of makes it pointless putting other data on it and yanking it out only to lose your cache file.

Good find.

Could be a dud one. Try it out in a friend's WinXP PC/laptop just to make sure before getting a replacement.

There are many things that will not work with Vista, that is why so many want to stay with XP

hey i got it and it works on my vista!

Can this USB be used to transfer movies and music from my PC to a PS3 or XBOX 360? as Sandisk also sell a special usb that is made for transferring files from PC to consoles.

Does anyone happen to know the read and write speeds of this? "ReadyBoost" compatability doesn't really mean anything as the standards say it must have 2.5 MB/s read speeds and 1.75 MB/s write speeds - which today is nothing.

meb;1605513

can this be pass word protected?

Not sure, but you can always use the excellent, free TrueCrypt - how to use it on a flash drive is explained in the ]FAQs (I use it all the time).

See ]Sigmatic's comments about the other 8Gb PNY Attache posted.

Is the one with the key chain hole newer than the one without?

My previous post never appeared. :x
