You mean £1.30 or just 30p?

Just 30p. Paid £16.99 for it on the 3rd of October 2008.

Personally I went for a more expensive 16GB with ReadyBoost spec (ie implicitly fast spec).
eg £20 7dayshop.com/cat…848

Careful with this one. I lost all my data on this. I had to format it to get it to work again.

Also it does stick out a lot when plugged in, the silver connector bit that plugs into PC can bend accidentally to about 20 degrees thus not able to close the cap until you force the bent bit back.

edit: BTW, not voting either way, as the price is great, but I've had some problems with the product

Interesting, I've been using a couple of 8GB PNY Optima usb sticks (similar case/build but faster spec) for over a year with absolutely no problems. Seems well built and well designed to me.

Me as well, no problems whatsoever with a 8GB PNY Optima usb stick.

I have got this, its very slow.
I am after a 32GB.

5mb/s write? SLOOOOOOW.

good price if your not interested in speed tho.

That one writes at up to 4.5MB/s and reads at 18MB/s

7dayshop.com/cat…935

Also costs £19.99 but writes at up to 14MB/s and reads at 33MB/s

It depends on your config. In some systems you can see a massive improvement.

Me too still going too

I had this but it broke, admittedly I wasn't the most careful person with it but it was also pretty poorly made. I'm looking for another but will pay a little more for something more sturdy this time. Good price for it if you are a careful person.

I think this is a good pen drive so far, I bought one since my cruzer got stolen. I have no faults with it.

ReadyBoost® is marketing by the same people who thought up Vista®. It's crap.

I have a couple of these PNYs and they are very very solid and the best dongle I've ever owned because of it. Also, the head folds into the unit so you'll not lose the end. Yes, not the smallest but that's due to build quality (ie protection).

Highly recommend kit.

I have one of these bought a year ago. They are not very good,i would recommend pay some extra and get something better. One of the problems i had with it is i was not able to put a 7 gig folder on it.I dont know what is the problem but i tried and formated both ways but still couldnt put that 7 gig file on it.If anyone had similar problem and found the solution pls enlight me.
Its cold for me.:x

I'd rather have this ]Sandisk drive for 20p more

What would you all consider an acceptable speed bearing in mind this is a slow 5mb/s?

actually i had a similar problem with this too. i got mine about 2 years or so ago, maybe the october 2008 date someone mentioned, it was about the same £18 price too

i filled it up with data and it worked at the pc's at home, but didn't work with my older pc at work which runs windows 2000 and just has USB 1 sockets. the same pc works fine with a 8gb drive from another manufacturer (i think it might be samsung, but it was play branded). the first time i tried it it showed files, but i was playing mp3s from it in winamp and they were all stuttering. i tried copying the files to the pc and back again but they were all screwed up. the pc then failed to recognise the drive and when i got back home the data was lost. after formatting and putting the data back and trying on various pcs at home it worked fine, but not at work. i tried both FAT32 and NTFS and it just wouldn't work on my office pc

btw, if you do format as NTFS you can put files bigger than the 4gb FAT32 file limit, like an 7gb iso file or ghost image. i've done that a couple of times. it was partially why i wanted a flashdrive bigger than 8gb

it's of study enough build, the design is pretty good to prevent it being broken in your pocket, but it does stick out a fair bit compared to other styles. this is particularly noticeable on my laptop or netbook. it is quite slow too. removing the indexing on the drive if you format it makes a big diference

personally i'd recommend another model that was a bit faster. it can take ages to fill the thing. read speed isn't bad though, but flash drives have never had the same problem reading as writing

I read somewhere that these have an annoying habit of the USB bit going back into the housing when you try to insert it.

never had a problem with mine, but if there was a issue, you could just hold the retractable piece when you insert it (so it doesnt move)

I have the 8GB version of this and am very impressed with it.

Have bought the 16GB one.

I love the non-cap feature of this stick.
