In Vista it can help due to a feature - in XP you need RAM

Are you on Vista?

OK, so what are the requirements for ReadyBoost? To make use of … OK, so what are the requirements for ReadyBoost? To make use of ReadyBoost you’ll need:Windows VistaPC with a free USB 2.0 portA USB flash device which is:- Between 250MB and 4GB in size- The device must be capable of 2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K random reads and 1.75MB/sec for random writes

So yeah, if you've got Vista then this should be ok.

The only one I can find on the PC World website is the PNY Attache Optima 16GB, which is a different product unfortunately.

I have never tried to price match but judging by other threds you only get 10% of the difference. So if the difference is £2 you get the price match +20p.. This is what I have been led to believe. Anyone actually done this?

Great deal. Heat and rep added. Just bought this super deal for a 16GB stick.:)

great price. i ordered one yesterday. it looks like it's pretty slow, but so is my current 8gig one, but it does the job. i just fill it up with mp3s and keep it in my jacket pocket so if i'm in the office alone i have music to play, and 16gig gives plenty of space to vary the selection so i can store music to suit whatever mood i might be in

now, how long till the 32gig drives come down?

seems a pretty good deal. flash memory seems to be falling in price all the time. and when the SSD become more available these babies will come down in price even more. anyone want to buy an old floppy drive i got???

Good deal. These PNY any good? Please review if you've got these... the 4GB has a very bad review at play.com

If anyone wants extra speed then go for the 'Optima' (£27.99). It has double the read/write speed (25MB/10MB). I have the 16GB and I have found it to be an excellent purchase.

Just over a pound a Gig, can't be bad

Wow, fantastic! Just what I was looking for a week ago but didn't find a price anywhere near close to this.

I have a 4GB Corsair Voyager just now but I've lost the lid as I have done with my last couple of USB flash drives! With this one I can't :giggle:

EDIT: Erm out of stock now  Looks like I was just too slow on this one. They have the Optima one for £28. I'll assume it's supposed to be faster.

Don't assume cos its more expensive its faster!

It's a very fair and safe assumption ;-)

This is generally how things work with memory sticks. They're premium products for a reason and hence the increased price and different name. Most manufacturers offer devices at different price and performance levels. The name "Optima" explains all, really.

It just occurred to me it was the Optima I was looking for last time and that's why I was surprised by the price of this: I don't realise there was a budget version. I'll just go for the Optima, or add it to my Christmas list anyway :-D

Corsair will most likely replace your cap free of charge, they have many times before. Visit forums.hexus.net/cor…us/ make an account and post a thread asking about it, for example in this thread forums.hexus.net/cor…tml

Good deal, voted hot.

The one that they are selling in PC World is the Optima series, not the Attache series that Play.com are selling :whistling: but still a very good price, can fit a whole season of a tv series on it ;-)

I just got mine today

Just got mine.
One thing I have a query about.....when I click on the drive on 'My Computer', and select properties, it only shows capacity as 15gb. Why should this be?

Don't be alarmed, all storage devices operate like this. You lose some in the ]decimal to binary conversion. It's just standard and we all just have to accept it. Look at your hard drive, it should be a multiple of 10GB (usually 20GB) but it will likely be an odd number.

Thanks for that, I had assumed there was an explanation and it was not a faulty drive. I am always learning more!
