PNY is a good brand been around for a long time.
would this be good for 4k video editing on a laptop?
Bear in mind this is the gen 1 micro USB 3.1 version. The latest version is USB C.

Just 200mb/s that is not good. Samsung T5 or SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD are much faster and you can get those for the same price when they are on sale.
I understand what you are saying but I needed something now and paid £55 for it. It was more important to have it now than it was the 2 seconds I may have saved for the typical filesizes I transfer.
Transfering 10GB at 200Mb/s is still fairly quick.

So does Windows or Mac perform TRIM on these automatically or is that not really needed these days?
Just to let everyone know I think these small external ssd's might not any any ram in them.

This matters if you will be copying large amounts of data to the drive.

I bought the 240gb direct from amazon and copying anything over I think 30gb and the speed went from like 250mb down to 20mb.

Anything under the 30gb (approx) size and it would copy all of it at max speed.

Returned and got the Samsung T5 drive which has been perfect at staying at max speeds when copying huge amounts.

Hope that helps.
