Thanks

I bought one yesterday from Ballicome via Amazon for £140 ish with speedy delivery. To be honest i was going to and fro about which card to get but in the end went for the PNY because of price,PNY is a pretty good brand and they use reference Nividia cards so the fan is over the GPU rather than at the end of the card or some other odd place.

Any reason why pixmania's one at £111 for the 1gb version isnt hot??!

seems to be a 'smart edition' ,..... what ever that is

Comes with Encyclopedia I guess. LOL

The 'smart edition' or SE models of GTX 460s are cut down cards so not quite as good as the normal GTX 460. See below for details:

CUDA Cores 336 336 288
Graphics Clock (MHz) 675 MHz 675 MHz 650 MHz
Processor Clock (MHz) 1350 MHz 1350 MHz 1300 MHz
Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 37.8 37.8 31.2
Memory Specs:

Yes but pixmania also have one overclocked to 765Mhz for £130 which is much faster. Basically there are 3 versions of the card the special edition which is underclocked (ie slowed down) to save power, the standard edition, and then various overclocked editions and the one in the link below is one of the fastest overclocked ones which is £160 in most other places.

Nice find.Worth to post, don't you think?
Edited by: "DownHill911" 9th Jan 2011

Well i bought a standard PNY GTX 460 1GB from Amazon (via Ballicome) and have it overclocked to 837/1674/1890 with no issues at all and temps under heavy gaming at around 70c- i would buy a standard 460 and overclock it yourself.

In fact, i emailed PNY to ask them the exact difference between the standard PNY GTX 460 and the overclocked one sold by PNY and the answer was,"The only difference is the embedded video bios, in which the working clock frequencies of both the GPU and video memory of the O/C version are higher indeed"

You can do this overclocking yourself in seconds-Very easy to do and can save you money! Forget the GTX 560 as for the money a GTX 460 will do 90% of the same performance but is much cheaper.
