Not a bad price for a middle of the road, older card. Can't find this for less than £70 in stock online. Bought today at the Garston Liverpool store...there were about 5 left.
It was offered online as a clearance item at £44.99 until yesterday when they all went.
Now showing as £39.99 online but out of stock.
Only availability is instore for now.
Please don't vote this cold just because it doesn't rank up there with the latest cards.
Oh and it's my first proper post so that's two reasons to vote it hot!

True, but there's only one left in stock.

theres plenty in stock of the 1gb GDDR3 4670 at dabs, A 512mb 4670 is similar to a 512mb 9600gt in performance but the ati card runs cooler and has direct x 10.1 legitreviews.com/art…/1/ i would of submitted the 4830 deal ages ago but the low stock prevented me from doing so. Also £70 for a 9600gt is overpriced since you can buy a 9800gt for £71.99 ebuyer.com/pro…184 and ati 4850 £74.98 ebuyer.com/pro…023

Sounds very good, do you have the 6 digit product code from the receipt please?

Hope this helps. Searching for the product no. online now returns just a list of other cards.
Search for 9600gt and you'll see it but can get no more info on it.

Thanks for that. Don't worry about searching for info I'll just go into a store tomorrow and get them to look up the item code on their systems and it will tell me where this is available and how many are in stock. I was looking to buy a 9600GT today and it was going to cost £60 so this would be a nice little deal

whats wrong with the 4830 or 4670? for about £60 id buy the 4730. I dont hate nvidia cards, its just that at the budget sector they are not as good value as ATI.

What's the PSU requirements please - I have a Dell PC I'd like to upgrade Graphics-wise but it has a silly old 300 PSU!!!!!
Thanks

It's 400W minimum with a 26A load.
However, my Dell (9200) only has 375W and 22A but the Dell forums suggest it can handle the card no problem as Dells figures are quite conservative.
Check the forums to be sure.

I have the xfx 9600gso 1.5gb overclocked (and an 8800gt 512 in another machine ) and with the stock fan attached to a fan speed reducer its near silent and runs at 44 degrees or 54 degrees playing Batman at 1680x1050 or COD 4 and 5 with everything maxed at the same res , i dont think thats hot for a card at all. Nothing wrong with Ati either i just hate their drivers.

would be a nice physx card

Great deal at this price. Thanks.

I run a BFG 9600gt... its a great little card that plays everything i've thrown at it. Been meaning to upgrade, but there is actually no real need to!

If using bigger than a 22" screen then maybe get a more powerful card, otherwise this is a great buy!

This is quite a useless card.

I've just bought a PowerColor PCS 4670 1GB for £51 from ebuyer. Bargain price for a card that's similar performance, uses less power and quieter and has artic cooling system, which is why i went for it!

and why is that? :whistling:

If your not going to say anything constructive do us all a favour and don't bother commenting at all.
How do I find out what my pc's watt and amp is etc to see if I can use this in my pc?

Really good card for the money. Can't see how it is useless, unless you are using it as an electric can opener!

Should say on the side of your PSU.

Take the side of your case off and it is the box with lots of cables coming out.
Sorry if you think i'm being cheeky, you would be surprised at how many people do not know what is what.
Also check you have the appropriate expansion slot.

Good price, but lets be honest,no one is gonna find any of these in stock,my nearest PCWorld only ever has about 5 graphics cards available at any one time as it is,useless shop and useless group. Not constructive I know, but apart from pre-order stuff that they don't need to have in stock, they are the same as there sister company Currys and never do have anything in stock, and no shop winds me up or I louve as much as PCWorld.

In the benchmarks at Xbitlabs the 9600GT easily beats the HD 4670:

Cheers for that

i have the 9600GT and paid 3 x this price 2 years ago, great card, there are a lot better on the market now, but to be honest if you are after a cheap card then this will play everything, including crisis. The games market has gone sideways for the last 18 months. so heat added

Was at PC world in stirlinng today and this was £59.99 even got them to scan it hoping they had just forgot to change the tag. And one else managed to get one cheap?

The one I bought was not a misprice, it was ticketed at £39.99 on the shelf.
Are you sure it wasn't the XLR8 overclocked version?

Was defo the same one you posted even dived on here from my mobile to get the product number and matched the picture you posted the oc one was either 69.99 or 79.99 and the other one they had was the 9400 @ 49.99 was only going to buy it as I still have £31 on a gift card

Can't see why it would be any dearer in Scotland.

Did you buy one in the end?
If so, was it £39.99?

Scanning at £59.99 in PcWorld Aberdeen.

scanning at £59.99 in both edinburgh stores. Can we expire this because so far only 1 person has managed to get it at this price

All of the higher prices quoted have been in Scotland.
Has anyone priced/bought this in the rest of the country?

Gonna try and find one of these tomorrow, wish me luck!

I bought one of these last week PCworld online for £44.99 including VAT and delivery.

It is a larger size card that requires an additional 6-pin power connection. I have a good quality 350W power supply and it runs it fine. It was almost silent, certainly quieter than the 9500GT. It does not have a thermostatically controlled fan but runs at a constant speed giving a quiet hum. I discovered however that not all was as it seems. This version was a derivative of the original two year old design. An eco or lower power version that has a clock speed of just 600MHz instead of the original's 650MHz. Also the shaders and memory was clocked slightly lower. This obviously leads to lower benchmark figures, but still impressive for a cheap graphics card.

Try to find me another 'off the shelf" graphics card that benchmarks over 10,000 3Dmark06 and costs less than £50!

Cheers for that Jonathan and welcome to HUKD Glad you managed to get one, I just did as I will explain below....

UPDATE

Oookkkkk so I have some information to bring this up to date.....

This offer is now unfortunately exired

I went to my local PCW and checked the product code - it has indeed gone back up to £59.99 - infact it went back up 4 days ago so Alan you just got one before the price increase.

However I was told they were in stock at another store so I popped down and sure enough there was one there sitting on the shelf with a lovely POS stating £39.99 so after a bit of a do at the counter I am now home with a 9600GT for 40 quid and I'm now gonna install it and run 3D Mark - cheers again Alan!

I also did some more price enquires on a few more GFX and found ]this 9600GT OC had gone down from £109.99 to £69.97 so not a bad price - especially if it was to drop again in the near future.

Glad to hear someone else has benefitted.

I finally managed to pick one of these up today although I had to go to Currys Digital to get one at this price. Looks like PC world have tried to pull a fly one once they've noticed how popular it is.

cheers AlanJ and sorry for doubting you.
