    That didn’t take long

Prices are set to tumble in September perhaps better just to wait and see the lay of the land in a couple of weeks, also the option of waiting on the 4000 series that's on the horizon.
Ethereum merge from POW to POS in two weeks… GPU’s will be flooding onto eBay.

Planning on building a PC. I have no time constraints so do I start buying parts now or wait until January?
Get everything now besides CPU, Motherboard, and GPU.

There are rumours of Nvidia delaying the 4070 and below tier of cards. So, there may not be huge price cuts like we expect at least in this month and in the next.

So, might have to wait for AMD's launch for the 7700XT for the real cuts.
It's Nvidia! 2 year old tech & even with the 'discounts', pretty much all these old cards are still above MSRP prices. There is an abundance of stock (particularly with GA102 chipset that has just resulted in then re-starting production to churn out more standard 3080's) so there is nothing overly dramatic in the reduction category coming.

Fully expect Nvidia to announce price increases for the 4000 series (blaming TSMC & the switch to 5nm process) + a staggered release structure that sees most models come out next year. This gives them a bit more leeway to shift remaining 3000 stock particularly by announcing a bit more off to make the deal seem all that more competitive.

Once the full range is out in Q1 next year, they'll wait for a while, announce news of the Super variant for Q3/Q4 for the same price as the standard versions & a price drop of standard edition models.

Would love to be wrong & buyers finally get some decent value for money deals but again...it's Nvidia!

    Alt Suggestion:

if anyone ifs buying a CPU and its over £231 or part bundle worth atleast that such as a Case, motherboard and co.

fully system builders rather just a GPU buyer out there, if CCL is the place for the res u like

then u can get £75 off this:

    Via CODE SAVE75

    so that be £696

a nice ventus plus by MSI VS PNY Revel... as an alt idea for system builders. (edited)

Is it worth to add £100 for Ti version?

£799 PNY XLR8 GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Revel Triple Fan 12GB
Depends if around 5% of performance is worth £100 to you. Personally, literally a few frames at 4K isn't.

When the leccy price cap jumps to 52p/kWh , GPU mining will no longer be profitable. That day the market will be flooded with thens of thousands of GPUs and you'll all understand why there was a chip shortage

I've been holding out for so long it doesn't excite as much as before. I'm on the meh bandwagon now and will just see if they release a decent budget card, if not then I'll just pass.

Funny thing is, people don't need to wait that long to see the price drops. They're coming.

I want a decent 3080 but I'm not paying any more than 400, that's just my bite point.
What makes you determine your 'bite' point? Genuinely curious.
  16. Avatar
Are guys expecting 3080-3090 around £400?
  17. Avatar
This almost makes me regret paying over £500 for a 3060Ti... but what price premium do you put on 9 months of enjoying your rig rather than waiting and waiting... and waiting?

I have realised I don't really need a GPU, I play older games. So I've saved a grand after returning a 3080 I bought and sticking with my GTX 1080 - thanks Nvidia!

Wow these are finally starting to become respectable prices. I’ve been holding for years at this point (mainly due to shortage).

I got the 5950x processor a while back. I thought it was a beast. Is that still considered good? What’s on the horizon in terms of CPUs? Just curious how quickly my setup is going out of date

I’m still running a gtx 1080. Upgrade is gonna be nice
I don't think you'll need to worry about upgrading your current CPU yet for games but this depends on what use cases you have for it.

The new 7000 series is looking pretty awsome but it'll be costly. Not because the 7950x costs $699USD but because you'll be forced to buy a new mobo and DDR5 ram to go with it. See here for details:

Unless your current CPU is seriously bottlenecking whatever you're going to do with your machine I think you'll be fine just upgrading your GPU.

Not a great model for a 3080 - look for something with better cooling / OC
What temperature does it run at?
  23. Avatar
needs to hit below the founders edition price before i will consider, also want to see what the hype is for 4000 series, although i also need a new monitor, waiting on the new 45" LG so that will determine the card i go for. (edited)
  24. Avatar
they are still coming down £699 isn't bad still not great, I think £400+ is bite point but may as well wait for the 3090 then

I got a GIgabyte Eagle 3080 12GB for £575 from Tab Retail using the eBay code 'FANCY15'. Not sure if they have any more. I also got a 6800XT for £525 from Parts 4 PCs. (edited)

I got 2080 Super, I might as well hold and wait for the 40's card
  28. Avatar
You know, after hearing people say hold for the last 6 months, I'm really wondering if they even wanted to buy a GPU in the first place (edited)
