Found this bargain at Blackpool Squires gate store, may be local only but I doubt it... Grabbed the last one but probably worth checking your local store. Not the fastest SSD but a great cheap upgrade for my Dad and one of the best deals for a 240 that I've seen

HOT! gonna go get one soon!

Just been to Bluewater and didn't see any there. Great price but I'm guessing its going to be another Currys wild goose chase

240 isn't listed online & with it ending in 97(p) then it's most likely discontinued stock.

240GB 2.5 inch what would be best use for this ?

Upgrade a laptop which has a HDD as long as 240gb is enough or use it as your main boot drive in a desktop/tower

Not bad for 240gb

Won't be local but good luck finding one. .97 at the end means clearance. Probably low stock per store.

Great price for capacity - don't know about the quality of those drives though?

Plenty of curried turkey this time of year but as you say not so much on the goose front.

I was looking at SSD in Livingston earlier. None there else I would have come home with one.

the link takes you to a 120 gig one

You could use this as a the boot drive with Windows system including the page file and keep data on another drive(s) as i do

ummm link shows 120GB SSD??

I remember when a 40gb SSD cost this much, good deal

ummm, deal clearly states in-store.

Dang. Bought this for £60 during the deals from PC World following Black Friday, and it made a big difference to the ageing PC into which it was deployed. Heat added, even if it's a wild goose chase.

That may be possible in a USB 3.0 port.

I run PortableApps on most of my drives, but if you use a USB 2.0 port some apps (esp. Chrome and browsers) can be unbearably slow, so if that is the case I wouldn't use it for an OS.

What is the current consensus on using USB drives for software that makes frequent access to thm with continual reads/writes?

Thanks for response, unlike Agharta's response, so unlikely to be able to use as laptop's main drive as only 240GB.

Can you give me the product code please? Or upload the picture please.

I find your comments offensive,

I only asked generally for advice / help.

What gives you the right to bully members on here with your personal and offensive comments ? ?

Wow, you do take things personally.

Yes - You should realise the comments you post on here, are to real people, and are personal.

However, the word I actually highlighted for you in bold ( and for all other readers ) was "bully" as I wanted you to think about your comments. I did not highlight the word personal - you have edited my quote.

People should draw attention to bullies, and not be intimidated

I really think you have completely misunderstand my joke hence your reaction which surprised me.
Maybe you misinterpreted this line?

"or more likely as an imaginary friend as you are not likely to find one."

If you felt I was implying that you wouldn't be able to find a friend and would have to settle for an imaginary one I can see why someone would find that offensive.
But the whole sentence is a riff on the fact that PCW £x.97 in-store deals are clearance items so rarely found hence the joke that you can turn it into a hat or whatever and the reference to imaginary friends as this deal is imaginary for most.
Hopefully you get it now and if you don't find it funny then so be it but it's just a joke!

Personally, I don't see this as a big problem. You could swap out the DVD drive for a hdd caddy, putting your old mechanical drive in there (for additional storage and perhaps backing up) and use a 60-240gb drive just for Windows. As ssd prices fall, you'll eventually get the large capacity drives for more reasonable prices (or comparable to mechanical drives) and then you could go for the single drive...but I think that will take a few more years at least.

I think you have only yourself to blame.

PCworld is not a store I like much, our one is chaotic. but I picked up an OCZ 240gb for just £15 more there last week, i.e. twice the capacity of this 120gb one.
