The price of memory is getting silly now. Remember the £70-80 days?

Remember the £70-80 days?

I remember the days when it used to be that much for 1Mb SIMM sticks. Yes you read that right, just one megabyte!

Dam ! i rember my first home computer , a zx81 ! credit cards have more memory lol

I remember spending £200 on 2x1GB of PC3200!

Banned

will this be good for gaming? im thinking of getting a total of 4 gb? or is there better 4gb sticks when bought together? my mobo can handle 6400 only me thinks ill double check

much obliged peoples thanks!

Jesus I must be getting old I can remember when the biggest hard drive you could get was 540MB and nearly £200 for a 2MB 72 Pin simm
One good thing was you didn’t have to worry how long they would last,

Yep, when I got my first "proper" PC ( a pentium 90 by the way), it didn't come with a cd-rom drive or sound card and the hard drive was around 540MB as the guy above said.... and that was costing approx £800-£1000 back in 1995... can you believe it, LOL

You have to say thanks to China for bringing all these memory to you for a fraction of the price. If this 1GB were to be made in UK then the price would have been around £60-£100 and in those days as cited by previous posters all them disks and memory were Made in Scotland or Ireland! These plants have all gone now.

Is this Compatible with PC3200 DDR systems? I know it will not run at it's correct speed, but I have an old pc that I want to put extra ram in.

Good price, H&R added.

Good price, but does anyone know what the timings are for this memory as cheap usually follows slow, Thanks?

My first PC, a '486' had a 100mb hard-drive and 16mb RAM. played Wolfenstein in pin-sharp 480x320.

I think the first computer I used was Dads rubber-keyed Sinclair ZX Spectrum, it had 16KB ram... yes KILOBYTES! The CPU ran at a blistering 3.5mhz

I think the brand is Samsung, by the way. Had it in my old PC and it was fine

Think this has been the price for a while now.

Don't need any myself as I was one of the lucky sods who got the 2x2GB for £12.49, but this is still a great deal.

I did NOT post a link!!!!

I remember when Calculators became available to everyday consumers, wow!

We had no mobile phones and remote control televisions, were for for the very rich, and I'm only 40.

I think Play have got their prices mixed up:
]This is £16 for 2x 1GB same brand.

got two 1GB DDR ram for around £5.20 inc. postage each at ebay. These days people like upgrading their laptop to 2GB per stick, so you can get pretty good deal at ebay. though this is brand new and no need to bid..

why post wrong link

Well, I remember paying 100 pounds for a 64 KB memory upgrade at some point, but those days are long gone.

The offer is good, but I got 4 GB (2x2) delivered for 29.99, so you can do even better. No reason to buy less than 4 GB nowadays for a new system (and little reason to buy more, because Windows will only support 3.3 or so anyway).

Yup completely correct, 64bit XP/Vista/Windows7 support more than 4GB. Though most people will find they won't use more than 4GBs, even gamers at the moment.
