A few months and it'll be at the £300 mark. Then it'll be poco time for me
Let's be honest it's a feat to get a phone with a terrible camera these days, you can agonise over iPhone Vs pixel Vs S20 Vs Huawei etc but honestly, most people point shoot and post to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. With that in mind, no phone in 2019 or 2020 is really a bad point and shoot
I ordered 2x Redmi note 9s 128gb one 3 weeks ago via DH gate.. Arrived with in 3 weeks no custom duty. Paid £146 each.

The Samsung M30s is the new Poco F1.
DHL = Import Duty and Taxes
Best priced phone so far for the spec this year surely? 5G, NFC, decent quad camera, HDR+ amoled panel, big battery full screen, linear vibrate motor, 33 watt wired charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack all for under £400. The only thing missing is wireless charging.
TheDodger14/05/2020 23:19

the seller says the duty is paid for

Id be surprised but nice if that's the case 🏻 🏻 🏻
Going to wait for this to come down used my Poco F1 over 2 years now never really had any issues constant updates etc perfect timing for this release as toddler just cracked the bottom of my screen

plus the higher refresh rate screen. Personally i've not experienced a phone with higher than 60hz so i dont know what I'm missing but for the money I think this is one of the best phones out without a doubt. No notch or hole punch is a big win. Plus in a previous thread someone said you can overlock the screen to over 80hz via rooting apparently

Shame about wireless charging but tbh almost everyone I know with a wireless charger never/barely used it I never have so wouldn't be a miss

Decent camera is subjective. Yet to try any Xiaomi with a camera that I would call decent.
Would this actually be delivered within 4-8 days or would I be looking at weeks?

Yeah, £300 might be my biting point, too

Reckon it'll be after the summer, though (just a guess)

I think night mode is where you'll see the different qualities.
Just install Gcam and your choice of XML. No need for root etc.

Then you'll get Night Sight and whatever else Google Cam offers. Works well on my Mi 9T.
Looks like a good spec phone and decent price on it, will a UK 5g SIM work in this phone ?
Tempting, but like others I think I will hold out for a price drop on the 8GB+256GB variant - still happy with my Galaxy s10e for the moment.

Thing is though, the camera in this doesn't have OIS, so point-and-shoot becomes that bit worse, especially in low light conditions.

Was it shipped using SF Express? Mine isn't going quite as smoothly, I ordered from this seller on 18th April.

What is XML please? I installed Gcam for another Xiaomi (as there wasn't one for the note 7 pro) on the wife's phone but whenever I go to night mode the app crashes. Maybe I did something wrong or maybe the version isn't compatible

My experience couldn’t be more different. I am yet to plug in a regular charger to my iPhone SE which I have had since release. On an Xs Max I’ve had for 1.5 years I only plugged in if I needed a quicker top-up. It’s super convenient in my opinion.

Does wireless charging charge faster? Never tried it out before tbh partner has iPhone 11 max and was debating on buying one for a gift.

It’s about as fast as a standard iPhone charger but much slower than an iPad/high wattage charger.

It’s about the convenience really, just placing it on a surface instead of having to plug anything. Got one at my bedside and desk and my phone is just always charged.

Might give it a try suppose if you consider how volatile the iPhone chargers are and how often they need to be replaced it would save £££
Yes SF express
My mate received it. I believe royal mail
40757981-CUivh.jpgFound this reduced from £25 to £7.99 and has a £3 voucher with is so £4.99 delivered. Reviews seem ok so I'll give it a try haha
For me (and my wife) at least, wireless charging is a gimmick. Both our phones have it (Mix 2S and IPhone X), and we pretty much never use it any more.

I have been plugging in a cable charger for 2 decades, and as thunderbolt and usb-c can insert either way, it really is no hassle, and being able to charge as you use the phone is more my thing.

So of all the features that could be missing, I'd say it is the best

Yeah speak for yourself. I use it all the time, it means less wear on the socket and saves a load of space on my bedside table (vertical wireless charger) and it's just so convenient, so I wouldn't be without it now.

Shame as I'd probably have grabbed this phone otherwise, even if it's lacking a higher refresh rate.

Need to check on the XDA Forums mate for that model and see who's ported it for that model and any known issues with each version.

The XML files you'll find mentioned there, don't have the URL to hand, but they're preconfigured settings you can import in to GCam to take advantage of the best settings for each specific camera sensor, which is best is down to how you like your photos (reference or more visually pleasing).

It also creates heat, is horrendously inefficient and shortens the life of the battery, oh and it's slow, but convenient.
Ok, I'll look into that as I didn't know about the XML file. Thank you for the time taken to reply

I completely agree, all most people do is switch it on and click they keep adding more lenses but what's the point. Focus on not blowing colours out or eliminating noise where possible but that's all most care about

It does create heat but I have to disagree on shortening battery life. I have been both cable and wireless charging my s10e for a year now (majority wireless) and according to Accubattery stats the battery is still at 97% capacity.
