Pokemon Sword and Shield Dual Edition Nintendo Switch The Dual Edition Includes:

  • Pokemon Sword
  • Pokemon Shield
  • and the Exclusive Golden Dual Game Card SteelBook
The Wild Area is a vast expanse of land in the Galar region with untamed wilderness. While in the Wild Area, players can control the camera to explore the vast areas around them and search for Pokémon and items. Trainers will find a greater variety of Pokémon living in the Wild Area than anywhere else in the Galar region.

Max Raid Battles are a new battle format that takes place in the Wild Area, in which the player will team up with three other Trainers to take on a wild Dynamax Pokémon. Trainers will then get a chance to catch the wild Dynamax Pokémon if they manage to defeat it—but it won’t go down easily

Dynamax is a phenomenon unique to specific locations in the Galar region, where Pokémon can take on gigantic appearances during battle, and it’s an integral part of Pokémon battles in the region. All the moves of a Dynamax Pokémon will turn into special Max Moves!

The Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta are shrouded in mystery and are unknown even to those who live in the Galar region

Yeah I saw that and opted out of pre-ordering. Hopefully another retailer will either match or do better. I have done loads of pre-ordering today and I wondered why my bank declined the payment as originally I thought they took payment on dispatch, but realised when they were trying to take money from my account that they don't.

Looks like Smyths have price matched. Went in after work to preorder. Charging 86.99, £84.49 to pay on the day as deposit required. Midnight launch 😁
Just in case anyone was unaware, there is a huge backlash and uproar going on right now with regards to these games. Apparently only pokemon that are native to the region in the game are obtainable. Meaning if you have all the pokemon in sun/moon ready to transfer, you will ONLY be able to transfer a select few of them, the rest will be unplayable.

You can NOT catch them all.

Does anyone else think these games look bad?
I mean gameplay wise they just seem so dull.
Another Pokemon 1st post This new game is really bringing out the fans!

Hopefully enabled later, I hoped transfers would be locked until late game as it's good to learn some new Pokémon instead of just transfering a super team and walking the game
My son is a Pokémon fan...don't question is, are both these games complimentary or can they be enjoyed separately? What's the difference between the two?

As with most pokemon games they will be very similar, with the exception of some of the quest line and some pokemon (few considering the amount in the game) will be limited to their respective editions - they will however be able to be traded across. They can very much be enjoyed separately, it's more of a "I'll get this one you get that one" kind of deal

I saw the primary post that has started this uproar and it looks like absolute nonsense. They've done some back of the fag packet maths which estimates the Pokémon models alone will take up approx 14gb of space on a 16gb cart so they conclude that it's impossible to have all the Pokémon on it.

Unfortunately using this crappy logic, the Pokémon in ultra sun/moon would take up around 5gb and the entire game was only around 3gb in total - Pokémon, music, game engine, everything.

So personally I wouldn't give this any credit at all.

That said, there probably won't be an actual national Dex built into the game if they're continuing with the sun and moon style, as it has now been built into pokebank. But it's still entirely possible to put every single Pokémon in these games and use them to your heart's content.

You're referring to a different post than what you're replying to. The one you're referring to is of course BS and just part of the circle jerk going on at the moment.

The post you're replying to though refers to what Masuda of Gamefreak said in the Nintendo Treehouse interview and I'm paraphrasing here "You will only be able to import Pokémon from Pokemon Home that are in the Galar Pokedex". Which is unlike Sun and Moon as, even though it also doesn't have a national Pokedex, you could still transfer any Pokémon to the games from Pokémon Bank.
From what was said by Masuda they won't ever be patching in the national Pokedex at a later date, so you are limited to the Pokemon available in Sword and Shield.

Looked pretty fun to me, especially the UK location vibes.

For me, it just seems like too much of a far cry from the original formula.
Too much Pokemon Go similarities which I guess I wasn't expecting.

£87 saved I guess but a childhood favourite franchise lost

Oh really? My mistake, I've clearly read the wrong thing. If somebody in gamefreak is saying that then that isn't good. Unsure I'm interested if I'm limited to that games Pokémon only.
With a bit more googling it seems this is a thing. Don't think I'll be pre-ordering anymore. I'll come back to Pokémon when they decide to add the national Dex back.
