I have been playing GT5 on it and very impressed with the quality compared to my old 720p/1080i TV.

In my opinion, I cant fault it.. but at the same time im not a TV expert but it ticks all my boxes and im happy with it.

I was seriously considering buying this TV but first looked for reviews, which I could not find, apart from Asda's customers.

I did come across this site, Consumer Affairs website - maybe you should read customer complaints about Polaroid read before buying oO

I read some complaints about them before I purchased, however one thing to take into account is these units are rear stickered as ASDA units. Asda is trading their products under the Polaroid brand only. The warranty is 12 months and direct with ASDA for a new for old or full refund. Therefore you dont need to go via Polaroid for returns/warranty work.

Also, in the UK, Polaroid direct dont sell TV's, they are big in the USA where most of the review stem from. Also take into account a lot of the reviews refer to the same type of TV's. 934 complaints in a country of 311,591,917 is not too bad, -- If you take a look at the reviews for Sony TV's on that site its around the same.

I think these units are manufactured by Vestel... to be honest I want to remove the rear cover and check the internals!! :-)

Also, Asda state this on their website - *Inherent Faults: If you believe a product you have purchased has an inherent fault and is outside of the 1 year guarantee period you should contact the Customer Service Desk at your local store for further advice. The customer will be required to prove an inherent fault occurred with the product. - Therefore, keep an eye on all online reviews moving forward.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

also -- thanks for the comments regarding detail in thread. - :-)

£2.5 for del hom...wt u reckn?

Polaroid went bust in 2001, I have been checking up on this company. A cheap electronics company uses the name. It is cheap for a reason. A few years back i bought a 32" lcd tv from asda called panache lasted 14 months then green lines appeared on the screen from top to bottom. I then purchased a tv from asda called onn. After 8 months beleive it or not the tv wouldn't even turn on. My brother used to **** me saying why won't your onn tv turn on. It maybe cheap but your gambling with your money. It might go faulty under guarantee or not but you want something reliable so shop around. Sorry i don't have an offer to post but i vote cold as have had nothing but bother with cheap t.v's from asda.

Please could someone confirm the width of this TV ?

What's the sound like on this?

Original Poster

Sounds is average, but I have not spent more than 5 minutes listening to it vi the inboard speakers as I use my sound system.

In regards to size, could get you that in a bit, the outside edge is around 20mm wide

Guessing this is just another rebadged Vestel unit then?

Think so,

Totally agree wouldn't touch this tv I've read up about them we bought a Samsung 40 inch eh5000 3 months ago for £418 it's now £350 if you look around ! The picture in sd and full hd is superb why buy unbranded tvs when a Samsung isn't much more ?

Don't want to put a damper on this deal, but my son works in Asda, he tells me not to buy as most of their returns are Polaroid TV's.
