Hi all.

Been keeping an eye out for a deal on a 4k TV recently. Spotted this in my local Asda today. Question is, is the panel any good? Regardless it seemed a good price for a 50 inch 4k. The 43 inch is £375....

Just remember these TVs are manufactured by no name companies in eastern …Just remember these TVs are manufactured by no name companies in eastern europe who pay royalties to use the brand name of Polaroid that went out of business years ago. This tricks consumers into thinking they are getting a quality product from a reputable company. From Wikipedia:"In 2009, Polaroid was acquired by PLR IP Holdings, LLC which uses the Polaroid brand to market various products"I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this product however. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't last as long as branded electronics do from the big tech companies like Sony, Lg etc etc.

I repair em they all last about 4 years before the Psu goes or the Led Panel loses a single Led which makes the whole thing come crashing down - easy fix £0.95p but most people stick em in the dump - amazing how many Led tellies i saw at the local cowp last tiem i was there and about 90% of them i could have fixed if they would have let me take em away but apparently you cannot do that nowadays - Sony , Panasonic are the only ones I never see in the workshop!

Asda Shirley and thanks for appreciation

Good find and don't call me Shirley heat!
I also fix cars and your dad is spot on Toyota Corolla is a magic wee car and Jap cars are reliable!
My girlfriend has had two Toyotas - rock solid cars!
Just goes to show yer folks are usually always right!

I have LG myself lol but they last 4 years - my 50 inch plasma went up the Kyhber and it took out the power supply, z-sus and cpu boards - repaired the psu myself and just bought the two other parts from ebay for £30 not an easy fix on Plasmas - Leds are easier.
If I could I would buy everything Panasonic but even they have started cutting corners and using cheap components now but they are still top of the range as are Sony - I am just tight as a gnats and can repair everything from cars to tvs so dont really have to worry about dumping stuff as I never do!

I also use an LG 24 inch 3d telly/monitor as one of the 3 monitors on my own home built Desktop server and its has been very good.

LG are about on par with Samsung but the real cheapos like Nikkai and Polaroid I wouldnt buy!
I hope that answers your question lol I already have folks sending me emails asking how to fix their broken tellies!!!

Listen to your dad and get a Toyota Corolla - my best mate Dave has one and we have used it to drive down to Lagg Beach camping in Arran performs better than a 4x4 and has hardly needed any repairs in 7 years he has had it second hand!

What does 4k do MATEY BOY!!!
Take a look at when the tv has to show a quick moving image and it’s terrible. If that doesn’t bother you then it’s ok to buy.
have a polaroid tv 42" in the bedroom and its not to far behind my sony for picture quality
heat added
There was a 43 inch on display playing a loop of 4k material. Did look kind of jittery on the fast scenes.
Any model number for this or spec link. I just got a 50" ordered from amazon from a hot uk deal ,,, all seems pretty good with it on what i can afford, tempted to cancel and order this if any good
Polaroid (ASDA own brand) - no thanks!

Sorry, I couldn't see any model number. The only thing I found was the series 6 bit.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Think I'll be passing on this for now. Would much rather go for the 43" LG which is currently £299. I'm sure this would be OK for some, but I fear for gaming it might not be up to it.

My main Sony full HD is still going strong, but only after it was repaired under warranty when the panel went duff. Think there's a risk with any manufacturer tbh.

What about LG? 90% of electronic items I have bought in the last 10 years is by LG and not a single one has had a problem. The only reason I get rid of them is due to upgrading to the latest technology 1080p > 4k Smart TV etc. Personally I have found them to be cheaper than all the other reputable big brands and last longer. My brother is a Sony enthusiast and he has had a couple of problems over the years but overall they are very good, I just can't commit to paying the price premium for a Sony. My parents have a Panasonic TV at the moment and it has been a nightmare.

I'm interested to hear your opinion on LG products. I currently have 2 LG Television, 2 LG computer monitors, an LG soundbar and probably some more I can't think of right now.

My Dad is a mechanic and any time I talk about buying a car he tells me to get a Toyota. "Yeah Dad I know but I've seen this awesome ca..." "Toyota" "Yeah but I read some amazing reviews and they score highly on the reliability index..." "No, Toyota"

Asda shoppers don't care about all of that.

Sainsbury's customers might though!
Is this HDR with a 10bit panel?

Must be honest, wouldn't have expected a 10 bit panel.
Voted hot for HDR
Voted hot for HDR
Look at side of box.. HRD10 10 bit panel, 4:4:4 HDMI sampling. YouTube, Netflix both support HDR. Also Iplayer has the Beta HLG test section. direct.asda.com/geo…tml
Great TV picture clear and no voice synch issues very common normally on cheap 4k tvs
Only used HD as no 4k player yet
Got myself one. Gr8 tv. Sharp picture with good colour. Sounds good and pretty loud. Wall mountable. Lightweight and easy to set up. Has HDR10 so works gr8 with my xbox one x. Value for money. Cant complain at all!
Thinking about getting this TV, how are people getting on with it? Thanks
Nice find @Hazrovi and welcome to HUKD. Which store was this please?
