Asda was selling this DAB radio for £40.00 a few days go, so a good price but no idea if the radio is any good.

?!? posted multiple times now.
Fab price for DAB - got one in every room already - shame I don't need another.
You surely could return it if it's crap.
Take some heat.
DAB is FAB! Ordered - have some heat!!!
Spread the love.
Does it take decent photos ?
Bought this for my granddad at Christmas for £35 - was the Black one i bought.

Speaker sounds very good compared to the PURE DAB clock radio at Argos (i bought both to see which sounded better and easiest to use - the Polaroid won on both accounts so i returned the PURE one)

Recommended!
Ugh i just bought asdas own brand by accident just sent them an email hopefully correct the order.
does anyone know if the alarm only plays the radio or does it have the standard alarm beeps too?

I've just got one of these - haven't plugged it in yet, but the manual says you can choose between FM, DAB and 'buzzer', so I think so.
Just got one this morning instore. For £20 I think this is a bargain.

At this price I doubt you'd get better for the same price
ordered thats
+1, Thanks.
Bought one and then bought another 4 for around the house and garden etc!!! This sound great for £20. Specs include:

4W Speaker
Scrolling Text
Dual Alarm
Adjustable EQ
Aux in
Headphone socket
Adjustable backlight (although low is too low to read)
Sleep and snooze
Big Clock

Get stuck in while you can!
Got one in Asda home store this morning for £20, shelf price still £35, sounds good!
Which looks the best between the black or the white.

You missed presets- how many presets?
Essential with a DAB - who wants to click through all those stations?

10 each of Dab & FM - Turn of the knob quickly scrolls through all the stations.
Ordered. Great deal. Thanks
Just picked up one from Asda Dalgety Bay (black one, but they had other colours too). Shelf price is 40 quid but scanning at 20. Picked up one for the kitchen. Good sturdy radio, looks good, decent volume and good sound quality. Well worth 20 quid.

Is this easily unlocked ....
Picked up a black one this evening.
I am more than impressed with the quality and features of this little beauty for the price.
Sound quality has also surprised me, certainly good enough for the bedroom or kitchen.
Thanks OP

I agree entirely with your comments. I also picked one up last night in London Leyton Mills for £20 quid.
Several remaining.
I used the ear phone jack to plug it into better speakers.
Will suit my grandson at uni.
Great find op. Thanks
This is a good deal. The build quality is better than I would have expected even at the original £40, and the sound quality is good as well, it's not like some other cheap radios where a tiny little speaker produces a tinny sound and the radio buzzes.

Here's something I found, there are some radios on the following list that are virtually identical to the Polaroid. The HDigit Fii Noire and Fii Honey, and the IRC IKR 1240. I suspect that they have the same OEM that uses several brands in different European countries, and allows retailers to rebrand the radios. Those radios are sold in Switzerland and Denmark for about £100, so either we are getting a real bargain or our neighbours are paying way too much. Note that those radios all support DAB+, so it's possible that the Polaroid does as well.

Here's the list scroll down to the HDigit and IRC radios.

This is just a guess, as it's a type B socket that should mean the radio is a USB peripheral rather than a host, so presumably there would be a bit of software that runs on a PC for flashing new firmware. That said I don't expect we will find any software.

That Sony is a very nice radio if you can find one in a store near you. I have the original DAB only model of that, and it's great.

The Sony is a typical portable type radio (although like all DAB radios it will eat batteries), the Polaroid is more of a table-top or kitchen radio.

I'd personally get the Sony first, but if you want a biggish radio that will work well in a noisy room the Polaroid might be a better choice.

i think the sony one will be great, but it is a shame its not rechargeable like my pure DAB mini one! or is it?!

The Sony only has 0.3 Watts output, compared to 4.0 Watts on the Asda one.
The Sony also doesn't have an alarm function.

I've listened to that Sony model and i think its rubbish.
Just ordered for the bedroom (not as a clock, just to listen to in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work)... hope it can pick up the stations I'm interested in!
Awesome radio. Got it the other day. Great build quality and decent sound. Only thing is the dab reception it poor in my area and even switching on my pc makes it go all bubly.
Super radio though.
I also bought this DAB radio a few days ago, to replace the radio alarm in the bedroom.
I'm far more impressed with it that i expected to be for £20...... It really is brilliant. Great sound quality and it has seperate bass & treble controls. Twin alarms and each can be set for different alarm times for weekdays and weekends with DAB, FM or Buzzer.
Also.... finally a decent DAB radio alarm where you can dim the backlight time in standby.

One of the best buys i've made for ages.
I'm in a medium signal area and it picks up all the DAB stations without even the arial up.
woo hoo back in stock online
Bought one of these on Sunday in Asda Beckton for £10. They had black, and also white. An impressively good radio from a usability point of view, as well as sound.
