Nothing whatsoever to do with the original Polaroid which invented instant cameras (Polaroid Land system).

The brand name is now used by ASDA to make a range of pretty basic products look OK. Some are, some are not!

Regardless of that, in the age of digital cameras, cheap printers and even cheaper print services what on earth is the point of these things which produce poor but very expensive small prints?

Nostalgia and these are fairly rare nowadays so it has some appeal that way.
Perhaps it is because some people still like that unpredictable once only shot and have it develop on real film - it still has its fans. Not for those without fairly deep pockets though over time. This camera is really a Fuji Instax Mini camera in different clothes and will use the Fuji film and its variants without issue.

Polaroid recently took over the impossible project who were creating film for their instant camera range since closing their factory doors.

I’ve not heard of them franchising the name to UK supermarkets, can you share the story?

Own brand technology in ASDA is branded Polaroid - notably televisions, which I believe are made by Vestel?
Turns out Fujifilm are behind this particular model (not Walmart as we speculated). Sells for around £45 second hand on eBay so this is a good deal, voted hot
