"Expiry date 13/01/18"! Didn't know shops were allowed to sell out of date food?
Lol just bought some 30p semi chem in Scotland. Actually they are similar to quavers. Not bad at all. At that price a steal.

"Use by" is the only date that applies to this.

A store can sell past a "best before" - I think the only requirement is that the consumer has to be aware that the best before has lapsed.

I worked in a Makro and our BBF-lapsed food used to go off to auction in crates. Market traders would snap them up cheap and Del Boy them down on the market.

Would have thought "Expiry date" was closer to "use by" than "best before"?!

I don't think there's such thing as an 'Expiry Date' in the UK (and hasn't been for years). It's just semantics by the OP.

I think it's only raw/refrigerated type produce that has a 'use by', and ambient produce is 'best before'
