Very useful, we have one and its great for picnics and when the hob blows all the electric in your house, because the electrician failed to earth it correctly, you can still have a cup of tea, also the refill are cheap about a pound each.

We have 2 of these for camping and festivals, brilliant for making bacon sandwiches at 4am.

A little word of warning before wasting your money. I bought one of these useless things last year thinking I was getting a bargain. The thing kept cutting out while the gas was still coming out. I took it back thinking it was a one off and guess what? The replacement did the same thing! Ended up taking it back for a full refund. An accident waiting to happen. I would rather spend a few pound more and get a decent one from Go Outdoors. Oh and the gas cylinders that you can get in B&M'S to go in the stoves are also cheap and rubbish! I've used them in another stove and they only last a fraction of the time compared with others I have bought. Sorry to be so negative but feel folks should be warned about these things!

Nothing to do with you using it in, or too close to, a tent then ? oO

I used one of these almost daily for a few years after moving into my house and not bothering to get the cooker hooked up.
Used approximately 1 can/month.
They don't throw out as much heat as a proper stove (steak took ages to cook) but more than enough for basic day-to-day meals.

In. It was cold and I was wet and tired. Ended a tempestuous relationship.

I've used one of these for years with no probs and the gas is real cheap.
The problems with these type stoves is when the gas canister is not installed properly resulting in a gas leak.... also when a pan is used that is too wide. If it covers part of the gas compartment it can make the canister overheat, with the inevitable consequences.

Use them all the time when camping. No problems at all.
Agree with Biker Jeff that most problems are caused with incorrect installation of the cartridge or not following the guidelines on use.

Great price.

Are these very heavy? I'm looking to go on a cycle tour in the summer so would be handy to cook some food rather than have takeaway every night.

Not that heavy, but take up a large amount of space. I only use this stove when car camping as they are even too big for when I go motorcycle camping.
The best stove for small packsize and light weight is a Gelert Intensity..... this is what I use when camping with my motorcycle. It folds up to about the size of a pack of cigarettes and you can get gas canisters of different sizes. Any Coleman type screw in canisters will fit.

BTW..... I bought mine direct from China for about 6 quid. Loads on Ebay.
If you dont mind waiting about a month for it.

I'd be concerned about buying potentially very dangerous goods direct from China. I don't suppose there are many checks on UK sold ones but they are required to meet certain standards. Chinese electricals are often very poorly made and do get stopped at the port or confiscated later.

Its exactly the same as the Gelert one.... it even comes in a case with Gelert on it.
Most camping gear is made in China these days.

Not being funny but if it's sent direct from China and it has a brand name on it then there's a good chance the mark has absolutely nothing to do with the company that owns that trade mark. IYSWIM

Gelert don't make stoves, they import them from China...... Gelert sell the exact same stove as I have.
The only difference is that I haven't paid their profit after they've imported them.

Practically everything comes from China. My point is that it may look like a Gelert stove, it may feel like Gelert stove, it might smell like a Gelert stove. But there's a good chance that it has never been anywhere near the factory that makes stoves for Gelert.

It is the same one...... I've got it and compared it to the Gelert ones. When stuff is copied there is always some difference, no matter how small that difference may be.
The stove is exactly the same and so is the plastic case.
