This is a blatant copy of the Lotus Smokeless BBQ grill.

I bought a similar copy from Lidl about 3 years ago. These are great for camping, picnics, days out on the beach etc. They are easy to light, don't give off a lot of smoke and don't use much fuel.

They are a bit of a chore to clean as there's a highly polished stainless steel bowl just under the grill plate which ideally should be kept bright and clean to reflect heat.

I love mine, it imparts that all important charcoal taste and I haven't seen a decent copy since the Lidl deal so thought it was worth posting.

You'll pay way more for the original Lotus grill put personally I think you'll be paying for the name as these work perfectly well and last.

Just seen this code PRIMOSALE from infowight hotukdeals.com/dea…435 if you wanna save an extra quid or so and buy through the ebay site m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Portable-Smokeless-Charcoal-Grill-BBQ-with-Fan-Small-Outdoor-Ideal-for-Camping/142839047089?hash=item2141dee3b1:g:sQkAAOSw7IpbRHKw

My Cobb probably has one season left before the black base melts so very tempted by this.

Just a teeny bit worried about 4 batteries that close to so much heat (the bbq, not the deal )

I also have a Cobb, I prefer my Lotus copy, ready to cook on in 10 mins (with smallish pieces of charcoal) Cobb seems to take ages by comparison especially if there's no breeze, albeit longer lasting. Also dubious non stick coating on Cobb (unless they've re-invented since I got one) Never had trouble with batteries overheating on mine and it has a plastic battery cage.
Think I might go for this, thanks OP
looks like a good idea
I've got the Kool Grill, paid £49.99 from the factory shop, very similar thing, works great

Thanks for the feedback. My Cobb has been great when using Miracle Blaze blocks that I picked up from Home Bargains a few years ago at around 50p a block (single block giving a 4 hour burn). My stock of those has run out and they are way too expensive elsewhere.

Do you happen to know if the Cobb Domed Lid fits the Lotus nicely .....?

I would have to check properly but I think the Cobb lid is a bit smaller than the Lotus copy I have and I don't know if this copy is the same manufacturer as the one I've posted. I did try miracle blaze blocks myself but found they gave off strong chemical smells so was a bit wary. The recommended Charcoal fuel burns hotter and quicker than briquettes even without the fan so don't think you'll be able to roast with this like the Cobb btw
What sort of cooking time do you get from one fill of the basket?

From the website:
  • It can hold up to 250g of charcoal to deliver up to 60 minutes of cooking

Realistically about 30-40 mins at a decent rate but the fan is variable so you can slow things down a bit. Also depends on size of charcoal pieces. I personally think you get a nicer flavour from quick cooking over charcoal than Cobb style with briquettes. I wouldn't, say, put a couple of super thick chicken breasts on as they would probably be undercooked on the inside and dried up on the outside. I'd probably cut them into half thickness and slow things down, adding extra marinade along the way.
This one at Robert Dyas looks good value at £49.99. Spend a penny more and get free delivery!

There is another similar grill on eBay and other camping shops called the summit b&co alfresco smokeless grill, £67 but has a cast iron grill which I feel might be a nicer cooking surface. Been tempted for a while but must resist....
@gazdoubleu I have a LotusGrill and I just put the basin and the grill in the dishwasher. Comes out shiny and clean every time.

Bought one of these ones for the outlaws and my only comment would be, don’t try to demonstrate how you can pick it up and move it when it’s lit (to move under cover when it inevitably starts raining). The LotusGrill’s exterior doesn’t get hot when on, but these ones do!!! Other than that a very good copy.

I'll let you know, just ordered one from Towsure on back order OOS for now but taking orders £53.90 including delivery. Im thinking fillet steak seared over cast iron but with authentic charcoal flavour. Wife's gonna go mad, got more bbq's than soft Mick!
I love tat like this on the shopping channel. Always ends up breaking or just being shit in general but the people demonstrating it are loving it.
