Before you trash-talk it, this is PORTABLE (i.e BUS-POWERED), it's 2.5", not 3.5" that needs to be PLUGGED in the mains for power. Is that simple enough? Sorry for the, what might seem, condescending, note, but I felt it's compulsory now, after seeing it happening in many previous deals

That's the latest series from Toshiba. It was down to £58 a couple of weeks ago but I didn't post it then. Then it went up to £71, then now it's down to £59, and might go further down.

In terms of GB/£, it's not as good as the Samsung Jacko deal 500GB/£39 .... but if you're after a 640GB drive, then this one's cheaper than most of the available models.

hot, but the drive sounds like it is quite power hungry from the reviews.

Toshiba and Samsung are not there yet like WD and Seagate. They might not be the best for I/O either according to benchmark tests.... but people are looking for large capacity for low price...Eco-friendliness is yet to be on top of the list

BUT, have you ever tried getting a HD repaired that's bought from ebuyer... Not a fun experience, they're all grey imports with only 1 year warranty that has to be done through ebuyer... Always get my drives from amazon now as scan, aria etc all the same

Cold from me, the Samsung Drive + Enclosure is a better deal right now. If you've got the tenacity to be a bargain hunter then you'll have no problem fitting a drive in an enclosure (which lets be honest is not rocket science).

You do know guys that it says 640GB but in actuality you will only get about 595-600GB workable disk space.

Cold from me, as above you get a better drive & enclosure.

You do know that hard-drive capacity is not based on 1k=1024, but 1k=1000. So 1GB advertised is only 7% shorter than 1(true) Gb, hence the 640GB ending up as 596GB

for the super-techies opting for the oem drive + enclosure, it's better in terms of saving, but my only objection would be buying from E-buyer! Under no circumstance I am willing to use them for any crucial components such as an HDD
Had it been from Amazon, I would've gone for that.

Plus, as mentioned above, these are two different lines....not every one wants to go the extra (micro) mile and put a drive in an enclosure. Some prefer it "turn-key" style, and that serves them well.

You can't especially with expiring of the deal for the 640GB 2.5" SATA hard drive deal from eBuyer.

IF that deal had still be on the go, you could have purchased it and a cheap external USB enclosure via Amazon UK - there are several of them available cheaply from the Market Place Resellers - to potentially beat this one.
