Possible Double Your Data For Free on O2

If you have the misfortune of being on O2 like me, it might be worth checking your account on the app.

I ran out of data this month, as I quite often do, and went onto the app to see if there is a one-off top up available to see me through.

While I was looking, it asked me if I wanted to change to a higher allowance tariff, and while I was scrolling through these, I noticed that the monthly payment for 6GB was the same as my current 3GB.

This is probably linked to the fact they have a double promotion on new contracts too. It didn't mention how long it lasts for (if it's just a promotion).

This doesn't extend your current contract (thank God) and kicks in on the first of the month.

The image doesn't show the allowance, but it will cover me if they try to lock me in or charge me more!

So basically I'm now paying £32 for 6GB unlimited / unlimited instead of 3GB unlimited / unlimited (edit. which includes my phone).

Edit. I should probably add this contract cost includes my Galaxy S7 edge which I got on release last year! Not sim only!!

Dunno how you guys are getting your O2 contracts, but my lass is on unl/unl/12Gb for £18.20/m and I think that's too high oO

Paying £18 for 20gb and unlimited calls/texts... Via O2...

I'm with O2 too and my tariff isn't great but looking on line I can get 20gb for £30. Really strange how they have all these different tariff charges.

Got unlmtd/unlmtd with 2gb data which is enough for me for £10

I'm with o2 and have been for years. When my recent contract ended they wanted to charge me £48 for a contract that new customers would get for £35. So took out a new contract and switched my number over. So I'm £35 for unl/unl/20gb. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be loyal.

Does it situated in Bolt Ons section?

Sim Only contract

I'm on ultd/ultd/6Gb for £21, but that came with a Sony Z5C. It was 3Gb til I doubled the data last month.

When you open the app, if you click the the "Data" heading, there is then a button that says "Get more data".

When I clicked that button, it took me to the tariff options.

Out of curiosity, how are you getting these deals? The deals on the website are always terribly overpriced. I used my works o2 open code last time, which discounts the air time by 20% and even then its unl/unl/3gb for around £36 a month. Are these deals from the retention team or something?

I got mine on a redemption deal, I actually pay £31 but it goes down to £21 by claiming back money every few months. Been doing these deals for a few years now, never had an issue. In fact sent off just yesterday for my latest cashback. I tend to find mobiles.co.uk best for O2 deals but always best to shop around, they just happen to have deals on the phones I want.

Just doubled my data per month for £2. Now getting 20GB instead of 10GB for £20 per month.

Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks!! just doubled up my data to 6GB too !!

Even that is double what I'm paying with EE for the exact same deal...

Yea I hate the network, I only got with them as they had by far the best deal on the S7 Edge at the time.

Where I lived in the Midlands the service was absolutely disgraceful - it's not so bad back in Northern Ireland so I will begrudgingly see it out and then take out a new one with EE, 3 or Vodafone next March / April time.

This deal, though is as beneficial for people who like the network as it is for people like myself wanting to make the most of a bad situation!

My other half upgraded from 3gb to 6gb for about 80p a month more. Was a no brainer really. I've tried to do the same but it isn't showing for me

Nothing showing for me, stuck on £32 for 3GB/Unl/Unl until September when it's Hello Tesco.

Heat added. I've upgraded from 10gb at £18.46 a month to 20gb for £20.52 a month. Well worth another couple of quid a month for that extra 10gb for the Sky Sports Mobile App!

I recently picked up a SIM-only deal for £20 a month, unlimited texts and calls and 20GB of data - assuming it was the same deal!

This is for new contracts only As all carphonewarehouse sub companies offer double data as per my contract which was 3g doubled to 6g obviously this has created a small loop and added a bonus to existing accounts.take advantage why you can people because it's obviously a blip.im hot for everyone who gets the bonus

Ill give this a try when I come to upgrade next July. If I got a deal from another company but on an O2 contract, would I still be able to keep the same number? O2 always get a lot of stick, but they have always been good with me.

Sweet, I just logged in and went to "change my tariff"- was on £32.31 for unlimited unlimited 3Gb (new HTC10, for anyone wondering why so high), and it showed the 5Gb version for £35 or the 6Gb version for £32.31! So doubled my data FOC.

Good work OP, pity I can't give you double heat.

I pay £16 per month, unltd mins and text, 8gb data, which is more than enough

thanks for the tip will try this tonight

Still, why would you not sign in and double it for free, just in case?

3 had a sim only of 4/5gb data (not sure which) for £9 a month
Pretty good deal and good network if you're interested

I have been with o2 for years... currently paying £16 a month for unlimited text/mins and 20gb data... I thought that was reasonable.

Anytime else here did the double date!

I'm proper getting mugged off by o2 after reading these. I'm on refresh, 500 mins 500 o2 mins, unlimited texts 500mb data for £31 my device is £17/tarrif £14! Just checked to see if there's a better data offer, nope, same thing with 1gb data is £40

Currently on unl/unl/10gb for £18.46 sim only with O2. Looked at the offer of £18 for 20gb, initially thought no brainer... until I checked with O2 and they said my current deal will roll on after 12 months (same rate increase each April). The new offer expired after 12 months and then went up to £33, unless I upgraded again after 3 months. I'll stick, for now

This deal is really only useful to people already tied into contracts
