Potentially FREE Real Christmas Tree! If not, 50% off a Real Christmas Tree!

55
Found 15th Dec 2007Made hot 15th Dec 2007
Received communication from our HO today that there MAY be a mistake in an advert placed in a Sunday Newspaper (Sunday Express) - the voucher SHOULD be "50% off a real christmas tree", but after some confusion it could end up being a voucher for a FREE Real Christmas Tree which Focus will be honouring should it happen!

If the voucher is corrected, its still worth an excellent 50% off!

This is whilst stocks last so no orders will be taken - get in there quick!

Hope this helps some people :¬)

Thats correct!

Be quick though, these could end up out of stock in an instant!

Does anyone have a copy of todays express to validate that it did mention a voucher being given in Sundays Express?

There are that many spelling mistakes on that document that frankly it all seems a bit suss to me

You might be able spell but without even reading that document (which ironically was about a mistake put on paper!) I can see that the have put very instead of every!

Just looked through todays paper. On page 47 it says " in tomorrows sunday express a FREE real christmas tree for every reader at Focus DIY.

Hope that helps

Have you guys at Focus heard of something called a "spellchecker"? That email has horrible spelling mistakes like 'dissatissfaction', 'prosessed', 'disapointment' etc. LOL

You have just proved the point its possible to do such and at a guess head office at focus had to do this memo in a hurry so no time for proof-reading it first!

No time to press F7 on a keyboard either to get a spell check to run automatically?????

On saying that I will still be going out and buying a Sunday Express just incase.

Bit of a difference between a post on hukd and a memo to go out to the whole company!

And the text is so small writing a reply I can't read it!

rutherford777;1353503

Company's?
Prosessed?
Disapointment?
Dissatissfaction?
(e)very?

Added to the fact that the grammar is poor..

Some real brains you've got at your Head Office.

The spelling in the memo isn't really the issue though is it? Thanks for posting this deal - I'll be buying a paper in the morning and trying to get a free tree.

if you work at hamilton store put aside a 5/6foot tree and i will see you at 8.05am. i will bring you a free sunday express.LOL:-D

Those people who point out spelling mistakes should not do so. This hotukdeals depends on people making mistakes. Some mistakes make great bargains. As for people's spelling mistakes, well, in reality people do not spell as well as they used to and they don't want to use spell checker for whatever the reason. I understood the letter well, as long as the communication is effective it is good communication even when the spellings and grammar are less quality than expected. There are many people who have MBAs who cannot spell well at all.

Fair enough, my point was that it was funny! Someone's made a clerical error which has made the deal and then the communication to fix it has many spelling mistakes!!!

very good deal, no reason to suspect it's been faked. good luck 2moz people.

oh no if it is free trees what a mistake to make ! there are shutting 2 stores down locally to me which if they cannot get their ads right it's no surprise.

I checked on the website and couldn't see when they opened - I assume it's 10am ? thanks OP for the heads up

cheers Welshy x

worth a go i think

If they honour it then I respect them as a company. Most would just say something along the lines of "That was a mistake by the newspaper, the offer is actually 50% off". No branch of Focus near me as far as I know though.

open from 10am tommorrow

Would have thought they would have been able to correct the vouchers before it was printed though

It is half price on page 58!
Just bought SE

Cheers
Chris

There may have been a batch of papers that do have the free voucher printed but it was corrected early so the vast majority of prints have the corrected voucher in it.

It does say in the memo that anyone with a voucher for a free tree or WHO QUERIES THE ADVERT should be allowed to select a free tree while stocks last ... OK the voucher today is for 50%, but yesterday it said it would be free - got to be worth an ask surely? Sadly my local store is closing, so no good for me, but give it a go!

Focus DIY have been taken over and some of their stores are closing down, the one near me certainly is. Popped in yeasterday and nearly everything has gone, they are even selling all the shop fittings too!

Does anyone have a link to which tree this is ?
Also how much does it cost if we do get 50% off instead of getting it free?

Interested to hear how people get on.

My focus will not honour the free tree. They said it was a mistake in yesterdays paper & that they will only honour a half price tree. Thanks anyway to OP, it was worth a try.

Looking at the Express front page, the Ckristmas tree thing wasn't the only mistake they made!!!

Thank you! Just got an £18.99 tree for free. Well, £1.30 for the paper if you're being picky!

Many Thanks, I had a 50 % off coupon but went and spoke to customer service and got mine for FREE !!
