Yes it worked for me Grex. I don't know how effective it would be in a real jungle. I wore it during a lake and forest trip last weekend. And also the mosquitoes tend to come into my room every evening when the weather is like this and no bites so far.

Do you get mosquitoes in the UK? Silly question probably, but I don't remember seeing any...

I don't see that on the NHS website? perhaps you can scan the leaflet. It might help someone.

Just got this info but no mention of the exact percentage that we should use in UK

Is that* one of your trick questions Grex?

DEET is often sold and used in concentrations up to 100%. Consumer Reports found a direct correlation between DEET concentration and hours of protection against insect bites. 100% DEET was found to offer up to 12 hours of protection while several lower concentration DEET formulations (20%-34%) offered 3-6 hours of protection. Other research has corroborated the effectiveness of DEET. The Center for Disease Control recommends 30-50% DEET to prevent the spread of pathogens carried by insects.

think this clears up any confusion:thumbsup:

No scanner but the leaflet has this website advertised on it .. look at the 2nd paragraph mentions 'should ideally contain up to 50% Deet'. By the way this is the amount for travelling abroad to malaria hotspots.

Um, not sure what you're trying to get me to admit to :-D

picked this pack up in home bargains a couple of week ago for around the same price. seems like decent stuff

Great price, definatly Hot

got these a while back for trip to cambodia leaked in bag in sealed cardboard was not impressed

I noticed I been bitten lots around the ankles past few evenings, shame no pound land near me.

I'm not sure how much I can trust the quality of this repelent, when the relief comes in the same pack!

these were £2 in Lidl last year they are very good

I took some of this stuff to Kenya on my Safari.... For normal beach time it was ok and I was not bitten but on Safari DO NOT TAKE THIS - You need something with 50+ DEET otherwise you are going to get bitten.... Luckily I had some stronger stuff with me and used that.....

Hope that helps....

Like everything else in Poundland, this is quality stuff, produced to the highest standard, only the best ingredients used!!

Spend a few quid extra and get Jungle Formula
Or Skin so Soft

They also have the kids version for the same price

I would have to agree that 30% deet is a bit too low imo. Went camping in the Everglades in south Florida and the mosquito's there were a nightmare! We had 50% deet and even that didn't really do much.

aye avon skin so soft works well for the midges used it at the weekend camping in ardentinny

Yeah, mine leaked in my bag en route to Turkey. I had taken it out of the cardboard but not used it either. Shame as it was such a convenient size for handbags etc.

Also it says 100 squirts on the packaging, which sounds like a lot, but it ran out for me within 5 days using it about 3 times per application per day.....

Hi does anyone still have info on these, such as an email address on back of box or pens, or customers services no, as i would like to get in touch with whoever makes them, might be a good product for the skin, but when they leaked all in my bag the melted everything that was near them, and totally ruined the bag.
Thanks to anyone that can help x :x

Utter bull**** that person may not actually be any good at what he does. Medically anything more than 50% may be more effective at giving you a rash and a reaction to the chemical which at 100% is dangerous on human skin.

30% is really good, I would never let any of my family members have anythhing more than 50%, I'm reluctant at 40%

Regardless, if a mosquito wants to bite you because of the body heat you give off it will do! Deet only works for certain senses of a mosquito, it is not perfect.

If anyone has children, I strongly recommend the Autan version with moisturiser (pink version) its great and it works in the jungles of Borneo to Laos, even the subcontinent and Brasil
