Got my Switch today. The Joycons are awful. Are there any 3rd party wireless controllers with the sticks in the right place, or is a dongle to use the DS4 the best option?

You get what you paid for Keep an eye out at ASDA for when they decide they dont want to sell Nintendo stuff anymore like with the Wii
I love the joycons, i use them unattached to anything in both hands, while docked.
I get that some people won't like the placement, but why do you think the sticks are in the wrong place?

I bought the Giotek grips which help lots. I’m on the lookout for a well priced wireless pro controller though as I borrowed one from a friend to try and they’re lovely. Just a little pricey. This wired one wouldn’t be for me. And it’s horrific.

In the right place

These are fantastic for the price imo, you'll get used to the placement.

I've also never used the included grip once.

I would recommend the Pro controller over any controller like this.

I've had a few of them and none of them feel as nice in hand as the Pro controller. You get what you pay for.
Hey OP, I'm a Wii U peasant please give me some love too, sad times

Voted HOT for all you Golden Switch lovers.
Might be the best deal now for it, but I’m sure it was £19.99 for ages around Xmas time.

Kind of.

But only for docked:

Me too. Makes you wonder why they wouldn't just make it work on the Wii u too. I'm actually after a Wii u controller because the Wii u tablets connection is so bad on some games.

I thought the same intially but changed my mind.

The positioning of the buttons relative to the sticks is not ideal, true, but holding the joy cons separately feels great, and it's the absolute best way to use gyro.
Both this and the Super Mario one have been 24.99 in my local Tesco since they were launched, although when I was in yesterday I noticed it again and it had a reduced to 24.99 sticker on it which I thought was weird.

Tesco Dunfermline if anyone is curious

Cheers, bought something similar today. Link. Works perfectly with my PS4 controller. Only negative is you can't switch the console on with a controller press, but that doesn't bother me.
Not sure I like the design on this one. The image of Link is a bit too much. It think it would look better without. Decent price though so heat added.
