Do these things work?

They are more for fun than anything really. There's better ways of exercising your arm/grip if that's your objective.

I've got one at home which I've had for a few years, it's occasionally fun to get it out and have a spin.

I have tried one of these they don't half make your wrist ache

good fun but they can be a pain to get started, there's a definite knack to it which takes a bit of practice.

There's other ways of doing that!

These are good fun - I bought the Powerball neon pro from play last Christmas.
I think that I paid £9.99 for it. Managed to get it up to 8000 RPM. This is the link to the World Top 100 NSD Powerball Scoreboard. Powerball Scoreboard

You will buy it, use it for a couple of days , maybe a week, throw it in the drawer, occasionally find it when cleaning out said drawer or looking for something, have a quick shot, put it back in the drawer .. so on and so on ...

They were £5 at play for a while, but not a bad deal I suppose.

I was just about to buy this, but you know what? I think you're right. Heat anyway.

Destroyed my first powerball within a week (nasty accident starting it up with the string, completely shattered the casing), bought another and practiced until I got to 10000. Haven't touched it since. I might have another go if someone could convince me that it actually has some benefit.

Even so, good price.

Would it not just give you RSI?

it's actually meant to be a decent way to prevent/aest RSI.

I have tennis elbow at the mo and gonna give my powerball another shot, just gentle at first, to help loosen it up.

But I want the new Autostart powerball. Going to wait until it go down a bit. Hot hot

I got one of these from Play last year for £5 and it has helped build grip strength.
