I fully expect this to go Ice Cold, however for those in the market for (probably) the best home chin-up/pull-up bar, it's the cheapest deal going!

Quick check on the usual sites (Amazon etc) will show you these are hard to get for under £30inc.

Positives:
+Takes 1 minute to put up.
+Requires zero fixture or fixings.
+Does not damage your door frames (your responsibility to check they are sound!!!)
+Gives the best clearance and height of any home solution.

Negatives:
-You have to put the work in :-)

Don't forgot 10% QuidCo (thanks MasterG).

For the climbers out there I'm using this to mount a fingerboard/hangboard. Message me for details on that.

Heat added. Good for the price.

Heat added, great product I've had mine for around 3yrs and use it regularly and paid around £30 at the time.

How's the back coming along Rob? ;-)

Nice find. I bought it for £20 + del last year in some online clearance sale. The product is very good for this price ... better than the other ones out there.

How is this one better than the
JML Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar?

I'm over 15 stone and don't trust the above quite yet (:

This Pull-up bar and my gym rings (Which I attach to this bar) are both invaluable and have got me in great condition (more lean than muscle though) :-)

Oh I think the bars raised a few inches than the JML Iron gym, though you will need handles/gym rings to do neutral grip pull ups on it.

It's far better than the JML one, the foam started tearing on mine after only a couple of months and I'm lighter than you.

No good if you've got stud walls though.

Or so I've been told.

Original Poster

Bigbak, it's in a door frame which will have studding supporting it. It'll be fine.

How do I check this ?? (I weight 13stone)

ordered thanks, and don't forget 10% Quidco

Good find and price, just bought one the same as the P90x bar but only less expensive. Would have gone for this if it was posted before. Mind you this isn't the 'Powerbar' the site carefully states 'Pull-Up Bar', the powerbar has different hooks and supports. Heat added anyway

You're hardly a bloater. Unless you're a salad dodger and weigh 20 stone you'll be fine. Your door frame will cope no problem.

This looks like a Powerbar 1 to me. The Powerbar 2 has the different flat supports and hook system. Mine gets delivered today so I'll let you know it it's a POS, but as I weigh all of 11 stone, I don't expect it'll have any issues coping with my bulk.

Nice but I'm not as fit as I used to be. If I start now say doing 1 pull up a day. How long until I can do about 5?

Will look for the update The_Hoff

Thanks.

Nice price, hot.

Absolute bargain, best pull-up bar I ever used.
Chews the top of your door frames up though.

do you need a screwdriver etc to install, can you close door with it on?

thats answerd my question!

have been so tempted to get one of these but after reading that - i'll just wait thanks

I've got a powerbar2.
amazon.co.uk/gp/…A0C
No screws needed, installs in seconds.
no damage to my door at all. Powerbar 2 is more expensive but has had a slight redesign with the way it hooks onto the door/rest against the door frame

My friend bought the powerbar 1 which is what this deal is and so far so good, no damage to his door frame

I found that using mine caused cracks in the plaster around the door frame.

Heat, ordered. Cheers

Didn't even know they were doing a new version, I'd definitely save the £9.95 and put it towards this updated one. Thanks for that mate.

I'd say easily within weeks , ive had the JML one posted on here a couple of years back and after a couple of weeks of doing 2-3 every time i went through my door i was easily doing double that.

Thanks, I've just ordered one of these. I had one of the ones that screw to the frame a few years ago, but it didn't fit well with my mrs' redecoration plans after we moved in together!

I've looked at these before, but always been worried that they'll drop off during use. Decided to take a punt on it at this price though.

If you want to protect your door frame/plaster I'd imagine there are ways and means.

Depends on your weight, the state of your door frames and the plaster, and probably how much you're kipping to cheat your reps as to how hard you are on it/your house.

Have fun and stay smooth :-)

bit concerned about chewing up door frame as I live in rented property!?

decent price...but seeing as I'm 15 stone and have one in my gym, I'll pass on this

How many shirts can I hang from this please?

Was expecting a comment here from Lee Parsons!...

Great deal!

I've got a Powerbar 2 and it is very easy to put up and take down (literally takes seconds). I use exercise bands to do assisted pull-ups at home because I can only do a single strict pull-up without assistance The bar works very well, feels very secure and hasn't left a mark on the door frame.

Before buying, make absolutely sure that you measure the width of the inside of your door frames. Some door frames that look standard may actually be a bit too narrow. Also, check that there are four inches or so on either side of the door frame for the bar to fit (i.e. a door next to an adjoining wall may not have enough space).

The powerbar is better for taller people because the handles are raised higher than the JML. It becomes more secure when it has a weight hanging from it.

oy!

Have decided to go for the Powerbar 2, as it's only £15 more, and any damage to the door frame will cost much more than that to fix.
Heat anyway, thanks for showing me this device!

Haha, bad timing, sorry mate!

I meant ignore my earlier comment :-)

really good deal, been after something like this for ages. But being at uni atm, I've just hung off my door frames and though I don't really care if I crack the plaster I was more concerned about the cracking sounds which seemed to suggest they wouldn't hold much weight. Not sure I really want to have to buy a door frame on my next terms payments....
