Now we're getting somewhere! Still too rich for me either way.

Works fine on my Freesync monitors so you sure it's not a Samsung issue?

tv'snot monitor and not a Samsung issue. I do not care about the freesync but nvidia gpu's even the oldest does work properly @120hz. On average the amd drivers are crap, you report faults and they tell you to wait and they do nothing. They sort out things sometime but they also cause other problems in order to sort out things. They are useless and they do ignore too, cannot say the same about nvidia
Would prefer a less complex 8gb version for £399.

Are the drivers for these still buggy as hell?
What could you achieve with this card? As I am doing my first pc build for gaming and YouTube videos. Would I need this level or not?
If u game at 4k , do VR gaming. Do 4k video editing ?? To name just a few.

First and foremost it depends what resolution you'll be running at. If you haven't started yet I'd recommend holding out just a few more weeks as the new AMD cpu/GPU are about to be announced.
Yes I am just buying the future proof parts at the moment like the case ram, and psu
I would to be running 1080p wide is budget let’s me

almost all modern GPUs can game at 4K, NVidia preferable for VR, CPU more important.

Great price for a great GPU. If I had the money I'd be snapping this up.

this card is massive overkill for 1080p gaming, a £170 rx580 would be fine

What games will you be playing, what resolution/details level are you targeting? FYI - this is a very high end card, what's generally considered the sweet spot for perf/price, aka midrange is several hundred pounds below this kind of product.

Oh really? Didn't see that one pop up strangely. Which retailer was selling it through there?

You’ve basically just described a Vega 64 in essence! Doubt they’d knock £200+ off for half the VRAM. I think AMD always had buggy drivers of sorts, no worse than any other card they’ve made. Nvidia is ahead in that respect.

I would like to play apex, while running a smaller demanding game like old school RuneScape in the back ground with a ultra wide monitor and one standard monitor.

This isn't the card for you I suspect. If you actually want to spend 600 on a GPU, the 2080 outperforms this card and has been cheaper on HUK (as low as 548).

Here's a the most up to date chart I have that averages 25 or so games.

You should really consider a couple things. Which resolution? My guess you are running 1080p. If that's the case, you should look at the Geforce 2060 or 1660. They are much cheaper (300 and 180). There have been some OK Vega 56 deals too, but whatever you do, be careful of the noise on the cards. If you are a streamer, you will want to keep the system noise down.

I also suspect the Vega 56 would require too much tinkering to get into a competitive state, the 1660 or the 2060 should be fantastic out of the box.

NVidia works with GSync or more recently freesync (but freesync over display port only). Currently, NVidia cards wont do free sync over HDMI...so it's sync abilities wont work at all on TVs. TVs will need to accept display port, or NVidia will need to allow free sync over HDMI (flatpanelshd.com/new…php?subaction=showfull&id=15484). AMD have supported free sync over HDMI and displayport for years.

The freesync frequency range of samsung TVs has increased with this year's releases, but i still don't think it's as high 120hz.

The problem is a mix of NVidia and Samsung...not AMD. At least AMD will do freesync, but not has high as 120Hz

That's the Vega 64. Otherwise just wait for Navi.
powerbrick12/05/2019 15:02

Its the same thing as FreeSync. FreeSync is just AMD's brand name for it. Confusingly, 'GSync' and 'Ultimate GSync' are not the same as Vesa adaptive as they require proprietary hardware (this is why Freesync is usually cheaper an Gsync). However, the more recent 'GSync compatible' does work with Vesa adaptive (nvidia.com/en-…rs/)...but only over display port (for now). Just to be clear...Freesync doesnt work with a 'GSync' and 'Ultimate GSync' monitor. Although, it will work like a regular 'dumb' monitor, but you wont get Syncing.

This article should help if some people are still a little confused...anandtech.com/sho…ing
This card is like a raw v12 all brute force power, nvidia is like a 1 liter supercharged and turboed, I like brute force :-) nice card I did buy one but sent it back due to not really needing it bought a vega 64 instead although would of loved to of kept this if I had the means

Josh,
Why you would want to play two games simultaneously?

You don't need to spend this much and if you are not rolling in it would better spend some of the money on other components - Apex isn't a particularly demanding game and Runescape is so old it wouldn't challenge any modern card. The 1060 that is listed above this seems a good option, if you have a bit more to play with a 2060 at rrp of 299 is well thought of. Worth getting a copy of Custom PC mag.

Samsung 2018 starting from the nu8000 does 1440p@ 120hz and freesync with amd. The only problem is that it is a pain in the neck to make both work with any amd gpu's, drivers are crap and they done nothing so far about it.
Nvidia gpu's would beautifully work with these tv's and no glitches at all (nill), they even allow to make custom resolutions at 120hz up to 1440p. Saying so I am not worried at all about freesync as I can very hardly see any screen tears with nvidia and despite the fact if the adaptive vsync is on or not. Shame on AMD

since when??
bobo5312/05/2019 18:59

since when??

Over most of GCN's live actually (so starting with the 7970).
AMD cards have generally aged far better than NVidias. Just compare a GTX680 to a 7970, or a R9-290X to a GTX780/780TI.
Speculating, there are a number of factors:
1) NVidia have such a large marketshare they really need people to upgrade so have an element of build-in obsolescence.
2) NVidia like to segment more and mostly offer less VRAM
3) AMD have the consoles so as time goes on, games target their architecture more
4) AMD well deserved reputation for releasing cards before their drivers are ready so as their drivers mature their relative performance improves (but most reviewers don't re-benchmark so this really hurts them).
Gnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh .....
