Decent price if you want a Kodi or steaming box. Not the best spec but should do HD video and Steam link of Xbox One streaming. The Windows 10 isn't a registered version apparently but if you have a registered copy on a nother PC it registers if you log in with your Microsoft account details

Looks good, but comes with a Trial version of Windows 10 - so factor in the cost of a Windows licence.

I mention that in the description. If you have WIndows 10 on another PC it will register. I paid £10 for my W10 key. Still a shame it's not already registered though
Mad how cheap these have become, was thinking of replacing my microserver because of the power usage but then realised it's also my Nas and would need to be on anyway.

It will only work that way if you're in the Windows Insider Preview program where you have to install the beta previews.

A slight correction to the description, this is a 1.33GHz CPU that can boost up to 1.83GHz.
Or maybe buy a £30 ebay Linx 7 tablet, or 2, which uses the Atom Z3735G
I was just going to say this seems to have the same specs (RAM aside) as my Linx7 which cost £40 2-3yrs ago and came with full Windows 10 and a years O365.,

Surely CPUs have moved on a bit since then. The Linx 7 has been a great tablet though.
Actually it came with full Win8 which i upgraded.

I've got a few linx models, but most of the cheap ones just have 1gb ram, and this has 2gb. I could run a VM on my 2gb 10.1" tablet but not the 7" and 8.9" models. this also has Ethernet and a few more proper usb ports (4 in total) and more suited to plugging into a telly

personally I think kodi is fine/better on an android box with remote control or one of the wireless keyboard/remote things that are about £6 on ebay. obviously you can do a lot more with proper windows

I'm resisting temptation to buy this as I don't need it. if the ram could be upgraded to 4gb and internal upgrades possible such as bigger drive, I'd be more tempted, but having literally half a dozen tablets and I can only use one at a time, plus umpteen other gadgets I can be doing without spending more money

About £2-£3 on eBay for a (slightly dodgy) oem license.

I think this is essentially like a Linx 1010 or old Asus T100 inside without the touchscreen, keyboard or a legit OS, but with a few extra ports.
Yeah, seems pretty expensive given the weak specs.

If it was dropped by £20 I'd add heat.

Highly dodgy, surely? But it may well work - for a while, or even indefinitely, who knows? It depends whether Microsoft decide to stop end users of what is essentially pirated software, which they are perfectly entitled to do, or prefer to build their W10 user base.
£45 would be a good price.
How is this hot? The 8" linx tablet sold by Staples with same spec cost the same and that was way back in 2015.

Bay trail has had its day, even cherry trail is now obsolete, core m uses barely any more power and a heck of lot more capable.

£29.99 would be a fairer price, for this amount Id expect something with cherry trail. How many bay trail atoms do companies have stocked up!?

as mentioned before, this has 2gb ram and the linx 8 only had 1gb

I've seen plenty of comments in general from folk saying 1gb ram tablets are a waste of time and too slow and unusable etc, but they aren't. they are usable, but they are a bit slow and sluggish. certainly comparing the 10.1" tablet I have with 2gb ram against the 1gb ram models, it's a lot more reactive and usable. likewise comparing my android boxes with 2gb ram instead of 1gb they don't have the lagging issues when loading and changing apps

if it was about £40 I'd snap for one. I think £60 is a bit much. the 10" windows tablet with 2gb ram could be had refurbished for about £40 not that long ago. depending on your setup, a tablet permanently plugged into your telly may not be that great, and having the extra usb sockets for keyboard/mouse/HDD/etc and proper Ethernet may be of more use than an unnecessary touch screen. for a kid's bedroom, the ability to do it all on a tablet may be of more interest though. it just depends on your needs/wants. I've got desktops connected to my TV's via hdmi but stream on android boxes etc instead, unless the thing I'm watching won't work otherwise

Or free Linux etc?
The third reviewer commented that it came with Z3736 not a Z3735 thats 1.33Ghz processor not the 1.8 he was expecting to run AV,the fact he was sent a better model they both had a base of 1.33Ghz but the model recieved went to 2.2Ghz in Turbo mode.

heat for the title on this post. Imagine reading that out to someone in the 1990's
Better than a Mac Pro.
One option for a relatively cheap license is buying old hardware and transferring the license over.

This does work although you will need to use slui and possibly give them a call (one of though).

Does Linux work well on these? I know these cheap little SoCs deviate from traditional x86 systems for certain things.
£79.47 now.
Waaay to dear for what it is.

That is quite true, there are a few ways you can still get Windows 10 'legitimately'. I was responding to the OPs comment that "if you have a registered copy on another PC it registers if you log in with your Microsoft account details". That is only true if you are using Windows Insider (beta) builds.

Single thread benchmark of 300

My mini HP 260 g1 PC I got for 80 quid thanks to hukd about 3 years ago has a 2957u cpu which has a single thread benchmark of 800, plus the ram was upgradeable.
You can get a tinkerboard for 50 quid, would be faster than this
Probably as powerful as a PC from 10 years ago.
£79.47 now.
Could anyone link a good setup powerful enough for 1080p streaming, Netflix & Kodi please? Would also like to run emulators on there, but not a be all end all...

Not x86 though?
It's an old SOC now and you can get a Cherry trail box for just a little more and get far better all round video playback and streaming.

Got any examples?

Id imagine so as my Linx7 tab does netflix and iptv without problems.
One of these in stock right now guys if anyone wants one. (Friday 18th Aug 15:03)
