Seems a very good deal, unsure of competition to the item
mtcleaning83_.

I have this drill without the Bluetooth and its the 2nd most powerful impact driver on the market, its great to have the settings on it as they help adjust to the type of work needed. I worked with someone with a bosch professional and he continually asked to borrow this when his didn't cut the mustard

Hi @mark.hampson Thanks for sharing your first deal with us and congratulations on it getting hot. Hope to see you posting more soon. :)

Which German drill bits do you use?

Yarodia

I've got this and it's good for workshop and DIY, very sharp drill bits. Definitely wasn't £79, can't find the receipt but I'm pretty sure it was £28-£30 or so. Be aware that the majority of the 100 bits are the two boxes of mostly identical driver bits.

Just to be absolutely clear you didn’t get the batteries from THIS posted deal but from another offer on Amazon, if you don’t want the batteries that Amazon sent you I will have them both for the price you paid and pay postage, I actually bought 3 from that same amazon deal Brightside told us about and they are perfect, so take away the worry and send them to me (y) Oh! And I don’t think it’s right to contaminate this deal thread with a product you bought elsewhere cheaper and now have concerns about, some people may get confused and think it relates to this so let’s make it easy for them: This deal was posted Someone mentioned Amazon Business were doing a one off deal on them You went to the Amazon deal and bought 2 from them They have been delivered and you notice 1 doesn’t have a CE marking on it You are Posting in this thread seeking advice on THIS TOTALLY UNRELATED deal on what you should do I personally think that is out of order, you go somewhere where they are almost 50% cheaper then moan, by the way I bought 3 from that deal and they are perfect, sometimes the odd super deal does pop up but you take the chance, it’s no good crying later if it goes wrong. I have a wider view of the world and the mafia CE mark means nothing to me, in fact soon it will have no relation to us here, so as I said to take away your worry and pain ship them to me even though it’s nothing to do with my deal and I will pay what you paid for them (y)

Fatchops11

I don't know but this sounds iffy!! I'd be returning them both

Lumiere

I got 2 off from Amazon Business..... what a fantastic deal, thanks MrBrightside1987 (y) . One came with the plastic cover and CE marked, the other didn't. The one with CE mark and plastic terminal cover was made in Vietnam the other (Non CE marked) was labelled "Cell Made in Singapore, Pack processed in China". The white PC plug on one of the assembly screws looks different too. I'm confused.. Any advice appreciated as I'm new to Makita and this is part of my first purchase into the brand. Should I be contacting Amazon for a replacement about the non CE marked one due to possible warranty issues? Also, not sure they should be selling non CE marked batteries in the UK.

Gadgetdeals

My 3 4Ah batteries arrived today, nicely box with a plastic cover over the terminals, just got them charging and they do have the LED's on, THANKS again (y)

Obviously it depends on your circumstances, with a shed to use as a workshop, my drill has never once returned to its case!! But it’s a good point, to some it would be useful to be able to pack it into a case when not in use.

blumminhot

The starter sets have the convenience of the blown vinyl case.

fubar888

As a few have said, the 453 is the bottom of the makita lxt range, I have it, it’s fine but is quite long, a little olasticy, and doesn’t have a light (don’t underestimate the annoyance of that last one!). It’s lasted me well and, although it has a relatively low max torque, I rarely find myself switch out of speed 2. If buying separately definitely go up to the 482 and get a fast charger instead. If you can wait then my bite point on batteries is <£10/Ah and now have 4 (2x3 and 2x5Ah) all bought for well below that threshold.

beambeam1

Have borrowed my neighbour's drill which is the same as this one (DHP453 with 4.0Ah battery). Used it for a few jobs around the house and it has been outstanding. Interested in the comments about buying it individually with better charger though, might shop around.

For sheer range of tools Makita seems best DeWalt come second for that I'd say, but I read negative comments about quality and reliability. DeWalt seemed to choose the highest power on paper over real world reliability. I was trying to decide a few years ago and was worried etc about my choice but very glad I went with Makita. They have a great range and unexpected accessories, and good deals on batteries and tools. It's easy to get good bare tools for around £50 or a lot more if you want. I've seen, and bought some, excellent Amazon deals for Makita. I have an Amazon alert and haven't seen the same for the others. I would say Milwaukee may well have better quality tools than DeWalt, but may be less extensive and harder to get in the UK. If you just want the best drill and not ecosystem Panasonic may well be better. Their drills seem excellent. Bosch blue have wireless charging But Makita is very easy to extend, with existing kit. If you have a stack of 5ah and a twin charger then the 2 x 16V (32V) system is neat. I'm only a home user. I use their lights, vacuum cleaner, speaker etc more than anything. Their new speakers/radios look awesome

ShaunWright

I have used dewalt and makita and I just prefer the feel and options available with makita. Never used a Milwaukee though. I changed all mine from dewalt to makita, mainly due to the cheaper batteries, better choice and the adapters that I could get for a standard twin battery circular saw to make it a rail saw with the rails.

adamspencer95

Problem is every review of Makita vs Dewalt vs Milwaukee has a different conclusion based on the 39472 different model numbers and the brand bias of the reviewer so it is difficult to make any reasonable conclusions. Price also varies massively, although the one conclusion I do have is that Makita batteries seem easier and cheaper to come by.

trex

You will struggle with 80mm plus screws with the 12v impact. Best buy the 18v. I'm talking from experience of owning 12v and 18v.

adamspencer95

the Screwfix offer is for the DCD778 and DCD787 so not the same.

Konrad_Newton

That's not true - cordless tools are noticeably more powerful on larger capacity batteries because the voltage sag when heavily loaded is lower. (Higher capacity battery have lower internal resistance, so high current drain causes less voltage sag. V=IR and all that). In fact you get more than twice the run time from a double capacity battery because of this effect. This is especially true of the high drain stuff like circular saws which are really sluggish on the small batteries because they draw so much current.
