Panasonic 18v 2.0ah battery £25 @ Power Tool World

Browsing clearances and seen these, only 5 pound saving but cheapest I could find havin a quick search around. Worth grabbing one as a spare 😁

If only! It’s all about the £££ though sadly

You think they could get together & standardise batteries for portable tools. One of the advantages of a competitive market, every manufacturer tries to get an edge on all the others & customers can distinguish good from bad batteries can't they? I don't think so. Just another area where customers loose out.

No they tend to not make batteries compatible with other makes of tools. Sorry

Will this fit a Makita radio?

Bosch 5amp coolpack battery. £54 but £15 cash back so £39. Sounds cheap to me
Get dealGet deal

Yes but bugger the motor eventually lol.....I used one to mix cement lol

Kind of the same. Bosch, and many other tools manufacturers uses 18650 cells. This type of cells can give as little as 2amp max discharge current, up to 30Amp (15 times more). Obviously price is different. What this means is that cheap batteries can give max power of 72Watt, while decent ones up to 1080Watt. This is why cheap cordless drill can barelly drill 10mm hole in pine wood, while blue bosch drill with genuine 4Ah battery hooked with huge mixing paddle will mix 15kg of plaster at once.

At last some one who knows what there talking about.....that's what I have all the Bosch gear but know nothing about the batteries......are all batteries the same inside then as I have some of those batteries in torches and laser pens

Yours 3ah had to be almost dead. Not much difference in between this two, apart from additional capacity.

More likely £50. Inside of it there is 10x ultra high discharge 18650 cells. Each of them (depends of capacity) are Samsung or Sanyo. Do the math.

Hi, the combi did not come with a charger but it did come with the Bosch holster. Very pleased with it. Next day delivery too (even with the standard delivery charge)

Let us know if you get one.

Thanks - I've ordered the £40 Combi version. That does not come with an L Box insert but does come with the Bosch drill holster. Not sure if it'll have a charger in the box but hoping so.

Thanks very much, I am going to buy the £36 then, no need for the upload too much trouble

Yea. Purchased from this seller. It came in a cardboard box with plastic moulded tray and charger. I was trying upload pic but it keeps on asking for a UrL or something.

Got this last week. Came with the Bosch holster but no charger or insert. Very powerful little drill.

Yeah seems so. @craigwatters75 what model drill did you get as it is showing the 10.8v li series as the model with a random picture of the new 12v heavy duty that should be under another sku. Either way the charger was a mistake, a good one but I wouldn't go buying expecting one to be in the kit :)

Hmm, it doesn't say anything about a charger in the description. Perhaps you were lucky :)

I ordered the one the website at £36. Came in a box with plastic moulded tray for l-boxx system and a charger. Hope that helps.

Where is the GSR with charger for £35? I don't see it.

I'd avoid the cheaper non-Makita batteries available on eBay etc, they don't last, your much better purchasing genuine LXT batteries. As horsey says, look out for smaller Ah batteries, BL1815 (1.5Ah) and BL1820 (2.0Ah) can be had cheaply, and much better to have spares, 1.5/2.0 are ample for the basic tasks around the home, especially if you have a couple, lighter to use as well.

I point this out in power tool threads often, Makita LXT range is so vast I couldn't recommend it enough. Re smaller Ah batteries, I also point this out to folks justifying paying extra for a 3/4/5.0Ah battery, for the average DIYer, several smaller Ah batteries, even 1.5Ah, is far better than the equivalent in 1 battery, much easier on the arm/wrist as its lighter and they have a spare(s) should one develop a fault, having a 5.0Ah battery is great but you need a backup should it develop a fault, opposite for tradesman of course as there looking for battery life first and foremost and any tradesman worth his salt will have multiple batteries. Makita G range is a complete con, very clever marketing by akita in that your average Joe is duped into buying what he thinks is a trade rated power tool, when it is far from it, and spares are all but non-existent, no doubt they've gained extra sales BUT the flip side is they may just put folks off when the tool fails and a bare unit to replace it can't be had or same scenario for the battery when it fails. I stand by what I said re the smaller 10.8/12v tools though, not if its your only tool, a combi would be better, but as an addition to a tool collection there great to have, great for tight spaces and small jobs.

Look for a BL1820 2.0Ah, that'll power most of the smaller 18v LXT drills normally around £23 but I think I paid less. Andy re: investment I don't mean as a financial thing, but as sticking to one range of tools. Say someone is doing a bit of DIY, they may well end up with a hammer drill, impact driver, multitool, jigsaw, circular saw. Now you can go out and pick up whatever tat B&Q are offloading this week, or you can poke around eBay and pick up the Makita 18v cordless tools for around £40-60 each. Tradespeople seem to offload their kit regularly, and being the pro range most of it is still fine to use if you don't mind a bit of scuffing. So instead of having five different chargers and battery systems, or trying to track down a rare as hens teeth 10.8 battery for a Bosch tool, you can just have a box of BL1820's that fit everything you've got. Makita also make the confusing G range which I think B&Q sell? but they require a similar looking but different 18v battery, which is a shitty move by Makita I think

I don't think there are many folk who see purchasing power tools as an 'investment'. These little 10.8v drivers are great for tight spaces, ideal for kitchen fitters and flat pack furniture builders. Agree with the other comment re 18v LXT range though, an 18v LXT (combi IMO) drill would be better if its your only power tool, as this isn't really a 'drill' per se, more a driver, but if your after a little driver for tight spaces, or drill lots of pilot holes, the 10.8v (and 12v) are a perfect addition to a tool collection.

It depends what your use will be, If you were drilling all day ni-cd batteries would be a nightmare, especially with the charge time. I have one similar to that and I don't use it...it works ok for very very light use but I got sick of spending more time charging it than using it.

No, I already own both of these tools - or similar versions.

I take it you haven't followed the link?

It's a fairly good deal, but I'd be interested to know what charger it comes with? I have both the 1820 charger and the 1860 - the 1860 charges at more than twice the speed. 4Ah 18v batt takes c.35 to 40 minutes with 1860, a fairly rapid turn around.

Given that 2 4.0ah Bosch batteries plus a charger cost well over £100 (£130 at Amazon at the moment, after a recent price drop), this is a good price for this level of gear (which not everyone needs!). It's not the deal of the centry, but it very good for who wants this kit, or level of kit This deal is also available (on the same site) with a beefier drill (http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/bosch-gsb-18-ve-2-li-18v-combi-drill-impact-driver-l-boxx-2x4ah)

That's exactly what happens and possibly moreso at the weekend where a lot of 'drive by cold voters' just hit cold on pretty much everything unless they personally are interested in an item. People that wouldn't buy this vote cold regardless of whether it's a good deal or not... they might vote hot on a £30 bottom of the range nicad drill though, coz it's cheap.

I bought a similar one from Screwfix at around the £120 mark. Use it for QCing of tradesmens work but also for simple things like towel rails. When neither your floors or ceilings are straight and level like this old house, it's a godsend. You can place pencil marks directly on the laser line.

Lazer levels are brilliant, couldn't justify spending this much for myself though.

The quigo is much cheaper for someone looking for just a cross beam laser and not too fussed about the relatively narrow beam spread. This one is 2x more precise, has double the range, and a plumb function... which may be overkill for many (_;)

I have a quigo, use it loads! Cost about 40 quid though, not sure how much better this is?

ummm, do I buy this or an over-priced plumb line for a fiver...... unless you are using this very often, it is far too over-priced even if 2 aa batteries are included brought a stanley laser level years ago, for about £15 thought it was overpriced (but a bargain) and I would hardly use it, so true! this price its not a bargain but day light robbery even if you are in the trade (it is battery operated)

Yeah. I think the whole design of their stuff is it fits more than one need. If u need continuous power on a budget stocking several 3ah is the way forward. If money isn't an issue you would choose the 5ah or biggest available. I think weight isn't such an issue. Another issue may be that you work on sites without power in that case I doubt someone would chose the lower ah to allow more working time.

OK a very small difference but still lighter and over the course of a day may have a slight effect perhaps! At least my other points that i was confident on are accepted!

About 5 grams lighter lol. Imperceptible.

Not sure i agree. The 3ah charge very quickly (20 odd mins compared to 40!) which combined with low price makes me think they are a good option. I've got both 3's and 4's. I think the 3's are lighter than the 4's as well. Depends how you use them i suppose. Heavy use then i may agree.

I personally bought a body only dhp458 to do my outside decking and a 4ah. They were cheapest I found when bought separately. But I think there was an offer at the time. I then bought the dhr264 sds which was twin battery so bought the same 4ah to pair up. I since have expanded my tools to about 8-10 makita tools. Only bought a 5ah a week or so ago with £10 discount on Amazon as I started finding I needed a battery for my tools to use while my sds ones charged.
