I agree, but some people don't seemed bothered so posted the deal. LXT for me every time.

Sorry, got to vote cold. After extensive reading about G- versus LXT-range, comments were unanimous: go for Makita’s LXT-range everytime.

I know which is why i mentioned it in my op, I got 3 myself but majority of people on here dont have or cant get business account. It came back in stock after more than a month few days ago for normal accounts but like you said if you're not in rush its worth the wait imo

This website is a joke at times. I don't really post much on here as somebody generally beats me to it. Alot of the times mods end up deleting it and in this case the link doesnt work even though if i copy it from description it works perfectly fine

Shinoke

Aye, hence the DMR112. But if you're not willing to fork out for that model which finally has both, I'd argue it's better to go for a bluetooth + radio model, than a DAB model that has no bluetooth.

8ANNED

Coverage and data allowance is a problem with that. Having both DAB and BT is best of both worlds.

jonnyshocker

sounds like plenty of options for people which is good (y)

Shinoke

If you don't want to fork out for a DMR112, the DMR108 or so is likely better - normal radio + bluetooth. You can run DAB on your phone, or use Spotify etc. You can charge your phone off the radio. Just DAB is really quite limiting.

Shinoke

It likely will go down, as the DMR112 is out now, which has DAB but finally also bluetooth. Lots of deals on the older models because of this I imagine. Cheapest I've seen that for though is around £140 + postage: https://www.passiontec.co.uk/makita-dmr112.html

This, the voltage has an effect on the power, but your batteries won't last compatibly as long

junkbucket

I can confirm that the drills both have LEDs....

andyb83

Ah has nothing to do with power. A 1.5ah battery has identical power to a 5ah battery. The only difference is run time.

LethalSilence

??? 'Two speed all metal transmission for increased runtime and longer tool life'.

Dan3434

The higher the number the more powerful the tool you are using will be and also last longer. 2ah / 3ah more than ample for any diy at home and will still last 5 or 6 hours with casual use. If using for a bit more than diy ideally 4ah or more would be preferable.

Drills are 2 types (if not more) they look very similar if not the same.. but the quality ones cost twice as much as the others! Some are for DIY, others general heavy use (I have) and others professional site tools.

arora

Try it and dont forget to share experience 😜

stakeholder

May I use it as an electric bread slicer?

mr_wacky_unis

Any good deals on hedging... so I can justify this!

TipsyNurse

Depends what it is. If it is grass, thistles, brambles etc then as said a brush cutter or personally I prefer a sharp scythe. With a scythe it is much easier to collect what you cut and IMO just as quick albeit a bit more effort. If it is overgrown hedges personally I just use a chainsaw to take it back to where I want/remove. Very quick, looks a bit of a mess initially but soon grows back. With this it will just constantly jam on larger branches and take forever. Obviously only do it if you are competent in using chainsaws because you must stay out of line of the blade, although I've never personally experienced kickback working on a hedge.

Might have a Fein...

Vape_Maniac

So did I at first. Until I read many reviews and realised the cutting speed, noise and vibration reduction are superior on the corded ones. I've linked to a review for multi tools. Has trouble in chrome, works better in FireFox for some reason. Makita corded came 4th out of 26 reviewed. Which is excellent for the price. Think the best cordless one came out around 6th and that was Fein. Then bosch at 10th. But its personal preference really. If a cordless one comes down in price I would probably buy the bosch starlock. But far too costly at the moment IMO. Best wishes

If only! It’s all about the £££ though sadly

palsapal

You think they could get together & standardise batteries for portable tools. One of the advantages of a competitive market, every manufacturer tries to get an edge on all the others & customers can distinguish good from bad batteries can't they? I don't think so. Just another area where customers loose out.

m1cky691

No they tend to not make batteries compatible with other makes of tools. Sorry

Gavin01

Yes but bugger the motor eventually lol.....I used one to mix cement lol

teddybeers

Kind of the same. Bosch, and many other tools manufacturers uses 18650 cells. This type of cells can give as little as 2amp max discharge current, up to 30Amp (15 times more). Obviously price is different. What this means is that cheap batteries can give max power of 72Watt, while decent ones up to 1080Watt. This is why cheap cordless drill can barelly drill 10mm hole in pine wood, while blue bosch drill with genuine 4Ah battery hooked with huge mixing paddle will mix 15kg of plaster at once.

Gavin01

At last some one who knows what there talking about.....that's what I have all the Bosch gear but know nothing about the batteries......are all batteries the same inside then as I have some of those batteries in torches and laser pens

teddybeers

Yours 3ah had to be almost dead. Not much difference in between this two, apart from additional capacity.

teddybeers

More likely £50. Inside of it there is 10x ultra high discharge 18650 cells. Each of them (depends of capacity) are Samsung or Sanyo. Do the math.
