Review on littlewoods website says it all - But for £84.50, what do you expect??

By MCal from Cheshire on 4/11/2008
Pros:Durable, Comfortable to Operate
Cons:Constant background click, Low-Quality Recordings, Noise on audio from zoom, Poor Sound
Describe Yourself:Semi-pro Videographer
Bottom Line:No, I would not recommend this to a friend
The price and feature set look great, so I tried it. Basically its unusable :-( on video the quality is passable, but all audio has background clicking and if you use the zoom it makes a terrible noise. I thought I'd try it as a still camera but you have to press the shutter button so hard all pics are blured. Very disappointed. Not worth half the price.

True, thats one opinion.. He sounded pretty disgruntled. I researched before I bought and most reviews seem positive. ]http//ww…hd/ for example, number of reviews is quite high.

I thought for £52 (minus the VAT adjustment, using the £30 back discount and another 8% quidco on top) what the hell. I'll Sell it on ebay if no good, but should be great for my needs.. :w00t::

Well I've just bought it! Great price at 80 odd quid - but with a £30 off voucher this is very good. Ok so I'm not expecting a huge WOW factor, if I had £200-£300 or more then yes but for this price - great!

All I need now is a good You've Been Framed moment (and think of the quality of their clips at times) and I'm well and truly quids in!

Just ordered mine!! Going on hols next week so it's worth a try! Will post my findings.....

Arrived next morning from a 5pm order! Nice and compact.. not tried it out yet but came with promised 2Gb sd card, collection of cables(incl. component) separate battery charger, and a case. A solidly build little thing it is .

Mine also arrived the next day with 2Gb SD card.

For £84.50, I think it is a great bit of kit, picture quality is good as is sound, and also it takes pretty good stills.

Well built and looks like camcorders twice the price.

As the review on the Littlewoods site says, you do here a whirring noise whilst zooming in and out, but only if the room is DEAD quiet, with talking and background noise etc I couldn't hear it. Couldn't hear said "clicking"?

Well worth the money, really pleased and rep added, cheers OP!!

Tried to order on sat but kept coming up with "there is a problem on the website try later" when i tried later it read this item is no longer available.... marked as Expired.:x

Edit... now reads in stock in 7 days.

Heres a sample video if anyone is interested

At about 0:43 seconds you can hear the zoom. Quite loud really. Quality seems fine enough.

I'm tempted for £50 odd quid I must admit. Even with the noisey zoom.

Edit: Oddly, you don't hear the zoom on the "un-edited" movies from Praktica. Might be something to take up with their warranty department?

This camcorder is a rebadged 750p version of the "DXG-595V"...the orginal firmware muted the sound during zooming but people prefer the zoom noise to a sudden dip in sound so the new firmware does not mute.

Thought this would be ideal for my upcoming holiday but it looks to be unavailable and expired now.
