And for once, a collection/best of that does actually seem to be. Hot from me!

I saw them supporting Queen in 1986, they were great. Just ordered.

hot from me hoping to see them later in the year with simple minds at inverness

Great band. Saw them back in 86. Never really came back since then though did they? RIP Stuart Adamson.

No, actually an almost perfect decline album on album from start to finish. Good job they started so high.

You obviously never heard 1993's Buffalo Skinners album then.
It was right up there with The Crossing.

Yes I did, I have it.

Stuart Adamson (singer/songwriter) committed suicide in 2001. A thoroughly nice bloke.

Ach Stuart - yer missed big time pal. RIP

Anyone interested, please get some Skids:
In to the Valley

Also, listen to the Live Album, "without the aid of a safety net".

Hammersmith (Odeon) sometime in the dim and distant.........

Saw them when a student in 1985 3rd row at the NEC - couldn't hear for days - fantastic concert, best I'd ever seen

Great collection of songs if you haven't got them alrady

Great band - great price! Hot.

Never saw them live, U2 played Manchester on the Friday and then Big Country on the Saturday, @ the Apollo I recall (circa 1984?)....couldnt afford both so I went for U2. This looks like a good collection and so HEAT from me.

Saw them recently in Liverpool with Mike Peters as lead singer, still sounded great.

If anyones interested they are touring UK and Ireland in April, might try and get to the Manchester gig if I can

Great band and a good deal.

Duracell great avatar!!!

Saw them twice in the early eighties, Newcastle City Hall and was lucky enough to meet the band after the gig. Stuart Adamson signed my ticket - "Cheers to Mark, Stuart Adamson" getting all sentimental now lol.

I'll be getting me a copy of this - have some heat.

Are they the only band that can make guitars sound like bagpipes? That really is about the only thing I can say about them lol.

/yawn

I think the guitars sound like guitars.

Bog Country?! Probably the only band who saw fit to make the guitar sound like a set of bagpipes! Awful: truly awful.
.
Still £3.99 for a double CD seems cheap - so HEAT.

Wikipedia doesn't - the person (qualified or otherwise) who wrote that on Wikipedia disagrees with me!

Feel free to amend the article then (_;)

My point is that people take wikipedia quotes as proof of some point or other - Wikipedia is by definition not an oracle or authority on anything. For that reason there is little point in me amending the article, I'm just another idiot but with a different view

And my point is as you say wikipedia is after all a free encyclopedia anyone can edit, if you feel strongly that Big Country's guitar doesn't sound like Bagpipes, I suggest you do amend it.

I don't feel it strongly enough to be bothered

Sound like twin Yamaha SG's to me, each to their own. In fact if you listen to earlier Adamson stuff in The Skids you can hear the simularities.

with steve Lillywhites involvement it sounded superb!
Gem of a band, saw them many times!

Great compilation but why is Just a Shadow missing, all the other singles are included

Ordered anyway, a hugely under rated band and I havent listened to them since I had The Crossing and Steeltown on cassette back when i was a kid

I would sooner not listen to The Skids/Big Country/Richard Jobson/The Armoury Show none of them were ever part of my post punk repertoire.

and that indeed, was my point.

They used an ebow to produce the bagpipey sound I seem to recall.

Thanks ordered what a great collection had all the albums once but lost or lent or sold be nice to listen to this again, saw them three times what a band so good live didn't know they where still touring with the alarm singer saw them to and they was good but couldn't imagine big country without Stuart wouldn't seem right
