Would have got it on PC but I am not going to get it for the Epic Store, I'll wait until it's out on Steam 6 months later.
I don't get why PC gamers are so upset about this game being an Epic Store timed exclusive. It was the exact same story with Metro Exodus.

The Epic Store, like Steam, is free to download, so just download the store and buy it there if you want to play it on release.

I saw that news this morning actually. Would prefer on Steam too, that's where I have the rest. Normally it wouldn't bother me though.
So this "free" mask is £15? Nice game real nice.
I'm going wait for a GOTYE, its going to have a ton of DLC with new areas, new characters, more levels etc and rather play it when its all complete

If the Epic Store actually cost money to download, I'd completely understand their frustration, but it isn't, it's free.

Also, competition is good. It forces your competitors to up their game if you're currently doing "better" but obviously this has gone completely overlooked by some PC gamers

Or instead of making incorrect sweeping statements such as that drivel you could do a bit of research into why...

Some PC gamers are upset because Epic is allegedly data mining user info.

Epic is Anti-consumer, their launcher is a joke and they are happy to spend more money to get exclusives vs actually improving their service. I understand about competition for Steam, but they are not making things easy on themselves. Plus there was a recent thing that scanned your Steam files to spy on people and try to find your Steam friends. They claim it was a mistake to leave it in, but it was likely only claimed to be a mistake after it was discovered. Publishers have also had pre-order pages up on other platforms (such as Steam) for certain titles and had to remove their pre-order pages 2 weeks before release, or in some cases after launch. Take The Division 2, that was removed from all digital retailers at launch of the game because Epic did not want to compete with any other storefronts. They have no interest in competing, they're forcing everyone to use their platform instead of giving players a choice.

I wouldn't mind so much if they were more open and allowed choice, but they're only good for the publishers/developers. Not for the consumers who actually buy their products. If you get banned in Fortnite you will no longer be able to access any of your games. This is also a bad thing as there is no 2 Factor Authentication so your account could easily be hacked into and stolen.
Fcuk pre-orders.
Fcuk exclusives.
Fcuk these absurd prices.

Cold.

Ah right, if the Epic Store is indeed shady as hell like you've just said, I certainly wouldn't download it

It's not shady in the slightest. Some of Epic's actions are a little anti-consumer, but nothing worse than Sony/Microsoft do. The whole "spying on you" thing is rubbish with no evidence.

You really shouldn't spread misinformation; there's no evidence to suggest Epic have been anything other than totally honest about this and it's certainly the sort of thing you see happen in software development.

Just because Epic said they weren't spying doesn't mean it was true. Case in point, Epic knows that 40% of their users don't have Steam installed. How do they know that? They're snooping. There's also plenty of people who looked into the issue and found stuff. It's not just me spreading false information. They got caught and the files that were found were able to dig your friends list from Steam. I don't know what you think spying is, but that certainly is for me.
I'm buying it. F**k it - Steam was exactly the same when it first came out for Half Life 2 and everyone was bitching and moaning about it back then. Me, I just went and took a punt and well, I guess it worked out OK as I've been using Steam ever since (and it was pretty bad back then).

Your data gets mined constantly on social media, yet people still use it every second of the day without hesitation. Every Google search you do creates another data record for you on big fat servers hidden away somewhere.

Epic can have my money, and my data. I have nothing to hide and nothing of any real interest for them, so I really don't get why there is so much salt about this 'Epic Store Exclusive'. If people are happy to wait, it'll be out on Steam 6 months later. Enjoy playing a game that hasn't totally been spoiled by then and had all 4 DLCs published to those who took a punt on Epic.

I'd never read the original post before, but that just sounds like computers being computers. As was pointed out by a lot of commenters, the original post is basically an amateur getting alarmed at a lot of stuff they didn't understand. I'm not saying Epic definitely aren't doing anything wrong - I wouldn't say that about any company - but there's no real evidence that they are.

Because people like having a choice to use what launcher they want like steam which is an objectively superior platform and has all their other games, unsurprisingly people don't want to be forced into a platform they want to choose, also the privacy concerns on epic
