Seems like a decent price. Voted hot.

Yep this really should be hot. Shows how many people still don't understand HUKD...

Definitely hot, regardless of opinions of the films in question.

You included?

Personal opinions of the product, format, retailer, price, or any other arbitrary (non-related) element of somebody's life experience do have bearing on voting, unfortunately.

PS. I noted that although the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, & Ultraviolet Digital Copy of each movie was included in this set, the DVD from the original release of the Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray/DVD/Ultraviolet Digital Copy of "Clash of the Titans" has been removed.

As you can see, the DVD format was dropped from the release of the second movie.

I believe a deal is hot then I vote hot

OR

I believe a deal is cold then I vote cold

That's how this website works. What criteria I use is up to me regardless of what the self-appointed voting nazis believe.

Yeah but the point is that people are clearly voting cold because they don't like the films - regardless of whether it is a good deal.

WTF, how the hell did I become the bad guy?! oO

People are voting cold because they do not like the films.
That is their criteria for this not being a good deal (regardless of your opinion).

...

However, they may also vote cold because they do not like Blu-ray Discs, Amazon.co.uk, Sam Worthington, this is a pre-order item, or maybe because today is Tuesday.

That is how the voting is supposed to be applied.
Please see the quoted comment from juliet_bravo in the link ("do have bearing on voting") I provided above.

But that's absolutely mad, so you're saying that it's perfectly alright...

a) ...for someone who hasn't got a blu ray player go round voting every blu ray thread cold just because he / she cannot play them????
b) ...to vote cold on a fantastic item that is far, far cheaper than anywhere else simply because the item isn't out yet.
c) ...to vote cold on a popular video game at a record low price purely because they don't like that particular genre.

These examples and more make a mockery of the site and it seems to me that HUKD is gradually warping into more of a product review site where the price is mentioned merely for information rather than a basis for being the key factor for whether the voting is positive or negative. You also get people voting cold because "their little brother broke their copy", "there's no Tesco's near me" and other nonsense that should have no bearing on matters.

Take this thread about Clash/Wrath of the Titans. Now I know that these aren't the most popular films in existence, but I happen to think they're ok, and as many 3D movies tend to be around £15 individually I consider this to be a very good deal for two of them (and I certainly don't know anywhere that sells this for less). The problem is that people who feel the same way may never even know about this deal if they only look at the "hot" section. I myself have to spend a lot more time sorting through all the new deals (rather than just the hot section) because I don't trust people to vote sensibly and I could well miss deals like this one otherwise. For people who want these films, how could this ever be considered a cold deal? For people who don't want (or like) these films, it doesn't help anybody to vote cold unless they also state where the item can be found cheaper.

I'm not suggesting anything rash or radical, but I do like this site and I think it's at its best when the voting is accurate - so I think it's important to nudge people away from automatically voting purely on personal taste (often without even looking at the price involved) - that's all I'm saying.

@ fanpages - I really am confused by your comments. In this thread you seem to be saying that people should be voting however they want without any guidelines, but in one of the links you provided you say this...

"As I have mentioned a few times; if the current & accepted system is that members vote how they like regardless of manufacturer, product, price, &/or retailer, or any other attribute then what is the point of voting at all?

The site may as well be a “who likes the product” site with the cheapest prices for products mentioned tagged on to each thread where applicable."

Yes, you understand correctly; hence why I rarely vote now.

It was not obvious to me either until I raised the subject in a thread (as you have here) & I was (impolitely) informed how wrong my understanding was.

I can point you to that thread, if you wish (but the discussion does continue for quite some time).

Note that the site's "Help" text is (purposely) ambiguous on the criteria of what is a "Deal" too.

Well the fact that a respected & well known member such as yourself rarely votes because of these issues says it all. It's a great shame that there are so many differences of opinion about such fundamental aspects of this site. I hope one day this sort of thing will be officially clarified once and for all.

It is interesting that there is no direct link to any sort of voting guidelines on any given HUKD page (that I could see), the nearest thing I could see was a brief note within the help section that is vague at best.

Thanks for your thoughts anyway fanpages, much appreciated mate.
