Ok, so, hoooold on, before you vote either way:

ghiblicon.blogspot.com/201…tml

Really I don't think I'll give a better description than that site. For those of you on mobiles; a short description would be that it has 11 of Miyazaki's movies on Blu-ray plus some extras in a collector's packaging.

I probably should have posted it about a week ago when I pre-ordered it for about £160. According to camel it had been like that for about two weeks. Just jumped up yesterday. Still a pretty good price when you consider it's 11 anime movies on Blu-ray plus some extras in a collectors package.

Prices for this when it was announced were less than joyful At 64,000 yen that's just above £370 ! It's still about 61,000 yen (over £350) on Amazon.co.jp where it is out already. So you would best order it right away on Amazon UK if you want it at all. Price may jump way higher.

Really I might just call this a deal for the Miyazaki fans. It might not appeal to many but hey, you never know. I hope it does help someone anyway

This was not in my budget, but....

Wow. If I had a spare £180 I would definitely order this. Shockingly poor listing from Amazon though.

I think I deserve an early Christmas present! Voted hot!

A billy bargain, it's not.

Way too expensive should be no more than about £80 at most Great films though

Not cashing in in the slightest................

On what?

I'm not convinced that because the RRP is Japan is £350 that the UK version will be the same - the single films are £40 each in Japan, but only £15 here. Amazon will adjust the price down if it does drop before release, so if you really need it on 3rd Nov you may as well order now.

Your image is from the Japanese version, so slightly misleading as this is a different boxset though...

I wouldn't trust anything I hear from a camel

Yeah my image is from the Japanese version. I haven't seen an image of a UK version. I wasn't trying to mislead anyone!

I have no idea of what the UK RRP would be. I'm not trying to advertise it as being £370, I lifted that figure straight from Amazon JP as I showed. I just noticed that the single discs are way more expensive in Japan actually, kinda surprising it's like that in the home country! They're about $40(not pounds) there each though, roughly £25. If we estimate that the conversion follows the same way for the box set, then this £180 will be around the RRP.

Your post makes it seem like it's not much of a deal, and you may well be right. Then again it may go the other way. I guess it's a good idea as you said, if you want it just pre-order it anyway and see if the price drops again.

The UK rrp is £249.99 and will include (TBC)

The Castle Of Cagliostro
Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
Laputa: Castle In The Sky
My Neighbour Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
Porco Rosso
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Ponyo
The Wind Rises
Bonus Disc

Whats on the bonus disc is unknown and the transfers will probably represent the same as what has been released here already. Which are ARGUABLY inferior to the japanese releases. Hopefully the individual artwork is different to the already released in the UK

you could buy them seperately for less im sure.

i wont be bothering, i like the look of them individual, i have all the ghibli releases so far.

It's a lot for some cartoons.

But what great cartoons.

I wouldn't settle for anything less than the whole Studio Ghibli shebang. Just his films seem a bit insulting to the other directors, Grave of the Fireflies is a must have and you don't get it of course....

I think you may have missed the point of this box. This isn't a Ghibili box set, it's a Hayao Miyazaki box set, including a film not initially released under Studio Ghibili (he had a directed a film before Studio Ghibili came about). It's like a Cristiano Ronaldo box set containing only Cristiano Ronaldo goals. That can't possibly be insulting to his other Real Madrid team mates.

What would be weird is a Miyazaki box set containing films not by Miyazaki.

I wouldn't be shocked to see this hit £99 around Christmas if it's an unlimited release. I remember when the LoTR boxed editions with figures were released; super expensive at first but were in clearance boxes after a short time.

If it's truly limited, to say 250 copies, then it will hold retail value.

Ordered for now. Will see how it goes in regards to future value etc.

I understand the point of this box set.

I clearly said I wouldn't settle for anything less than all the other Studio Ghibli films in a box set, as most of these are Studio Ghibli films. I would rather have a complete SG set than just the films Miyazaki directed, and pick up the other Miyazaki films if I so desired. It would be a far better and more comprehensive collectable in my opinion than Miyazaki exclusively, because he worked on other SG films too even ones he didn't direct.

For example, he wrote or co wrote Whisper of the Heart, Arrietty and Up On Poppy Hill....nowhere to be seen in this set apparently just because he didn't direct them.

Therefore I would not buy this particular set. I do not think this is a very good deal as it is simply a pre order from the one retailer that lists it, before anyone else even has it listed as it's not due out for two months.

Way too expensive even at this "discounted" price on to the RRP. For this kind of price you'd be expecting a Ghibli complete set, not just a Miyazaki one, prices for media is very expensive in Japan and not at all comparable to here. If it's not limited in any way I'd fully expect it to drop in price, Ghibli movies themselves don't tend to but I can't imagine retailers wanting to sit on large stocks of this set waiting for it to sell for ~£200.

Japanese only. Meh.

Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
Laputa: Castle In The Sky
My Neighbour Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
Porco Rosso
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away

Just buy these on DVD and enjoy the moveis, this boxset is not a deal, in fact its terrible value.

I found it elsewhere for £0.00

STUDIO GHIBLI Hayao Miyazaki Collection 1979-2013

Hot! I used to buy the DVDs direct from Japan at 50 quid a pop!

Just buy them on DVD X)

Absolute rip-off at that price, especially since it doesn't have all the studio ghibli films.

ok not talking value, Is this all the films out ?

Millionvoltage

This is all the films directed by Hayao Miyazaki (including one pre-Studio Ghibli film)

So it's not all the Ghibli films, but it is all the films ever directed by Miyazaki.
