Another £10 knocked off!

Still think the Tesco Entertainment deal is better, but if you're looking for the console without a game, this is a good price.

I wonder what the prices are going to be like next week.

Prices going down before release a lot?

depending on the game you're after this one could potentially be a better buy if you go for the bundle,
you can add a screen protector for free, a case for £5 and a select game* for £15, totalling £207

* games in the offer are..

super monkey ball 3d
the sims 3
rayman
ridge racer
ghost recon shadow wars

amazon.co.uk/gp/…846

Although i'd still personally go with the tesco deal as the game choice is wider, and also factoring in quidco, if it tracks and pays out, it could still be a couple of quid cheaper to purchase a case and protector separately.
I'm in two minds of wether to order one of these consoles now for my daughters birthday in Sept, or to wait and see if the price drops between now and then.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see some retailers around the £180 by next week.

I am put off by possible eye strain on this

Turn the 3D down a little, problem solved.

Sort of wish I'd not moved to the Tesco Direct offer now. Had the pre-order down on Amazon since the pre-ordering started.

I've preordered this at shopto a long time ago for 199.99. Wonder if they will honor the price or do a package deal.

doesnt beat the HMV £205 deal which includes game

Don't know where you learn't maths but it does if you do the amazon bundle as mine just came to £202 with monkey ball and the screen protector, oh and nectar points.

Wait until 3D porn

Wrist and Eye strain FTW

Battery life is rubbish and the 3d is a gimmick, im usually first to buy new consoles but this one puts me right off.

Had a look on the site and if you go to the bundles page you will get a screen protector free and a choice of a game for £15.00 and a case for 5 nicker!

Active shutter and passive 3D is a gimmick, this is the future of 3D and sounds pretty interesting. I can imagine this being extremely immersive on a handheld device, while the graphics hardly pull you in, this is a worthy substitute for the realism offered in home consoles.

The 3D is stunning, in my opinion.

Amazon aren't great for pre-orders though.

The 3D is okay. Personally the graphics are not much better than the PSP and the bottom screen should have been the same size as the top. The NGP is more innovative and blows it away in all areas.

the ngp also has nothing but watered down sh!t for games

The NGP seems to be just home console style games that are nigh on impossible to play on the move.

Hmm not sure if you guys are serious. The back touch screen and improved graphics makes it a winner. The 3DS is underpowered and the 3D is a gimmick that won't improve gameplay. The console is rushed imo. The cameras are low res and why is the top screen wide and the bottom square? Cutting corners. This thing won't sell half as many as the DS. The fact that ridge racer psp looks better than rr 3ds is laughable. The 3DS should be no more than £100 based on the tech inside it.

Are you actually serious because I thought that was the main goal .. taking proper gaming on the move for the people who enjoy games to pass the time on their travels and so on .. personally the biggest improvment will be the 2nd analogue stick pretty much as near to a controller as you can get now a couple of extra buttons and we're sorted .. The 3ds will tide me over until the real portable gaming arrives on the NGP you should stick to tetris and 2d super mario

I'd rather play a 2d Mario on the move that can easily be played for a quick burst while on the bus than play a "proper game" as said games can't be played for 20 mins at a time.

Also, did you need to be a ****?

A winner in what books? They've just dumped a load of tech in it for it to seem innovative, the back may work wonders in certain games, but Sony will push for all devs to take advantage of every sensor, just complicating the whole gameplay. The NGP won't sell anywhere near as many units as the 3DS due to it's probable £300 price point, and release date of November time.

The cameras are low res to keep costs down. The top screen is larger as it is able to take the whole of the top of the unit, while the bottom of the console has to house the buttons, and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I'd rather one big screen and one smaller screen than two smaller screens..

I don't think graphics are anything to go by these days, Nintendo have never been after the hardcore gaming market, and Apps such as Angry Birds and Tiny Wings show off just how little simple graphics hinder the games fun.

Lastly you say that it shouldn't cost more than £100 based on the tech inside. I hope you realise that these parallex barrier screens are brand new, and due to them being the first of their kind they are likely to be costly.

Nothing has really been confirmed for the NGP because its was just revealed last month. Expect to see a lot more solid titles announced for it later this year, at E3.

Just buy both?

Yep, buy both!

Well the Tesco's deal is the best one with a game. The console + SF 3D is going to around £189 after £18.63 quidco.

I sold my PSP before I sold my DSi.
Never played either of them. All the best games were RPG's I had to import on the PSP. The DS games were just all for kids or lacked depth.

Still ordered one of these though and I can't not get a PSP2 if there's Uncharted on it!

I'm getting the 3DS with Zelda Spirit Tracks and Pokemon White. Why don't they release a 3D game worth playing for me to have a go on?
Edited by: "RoBad" 16th Mar 2011

I think its pretty obvious that you don't like the type of games the PSP has to offer, so I won't try to convince you otherwise. To each to their own, I'll just enjoy the best of both worlds by owning both consoles
Edited by: "Hinch87" 17th Mar 2011

I personally think the 3D is awesome and I can pretty much garentee that Sony & Microsoft will be following in Nintendo's footsteps once again after this is released.

For me though the main selling point?....... Ocarina of F***ing Time... I almost pissedmyself when I heard this was being released. I know its not out for a while but I would rather shoot myself than play Ridge Racer on any console when THAT is out on the 3DS.
Edited by: "pkv260" 17th Mar 2011

The 3DS is a good console but no way is it a console that justifies £200 and £30 a game, incredibly poor value. Obviously if Nintendo can sell them at that then they are right to do so but I'm always surprised people are prepared to pay soo much for a console that is near psp performance and in some ways inferior.

Do we have to have fanboys in here promoting the products they prefer?..it's a thread about the 3DS...nothing else..

On topic ...the Tesco Entertainment deal is still better if you have a Tesco Clubcard and go through Topcashback/Quidco. It works out less than £187..including a game (they have a better selection as well).

As far as value..well if you look at just the hardware then 3DS does seem expensive compared to the original DS (not so much when compared to the DSi XL..I mean that lanched at £160).

..but there's a hell of alot of stuff built into/included with the 3DS that many don't seem to know about.

All this is included with the 3DS-

AR Games (default, or unlock by playing):
+ Targets
+ Minigolf
+ Fishing
+ Graffiti
+ Mii Viewer
+ Star Viewer
+ Targets 2
+ Minigolf 2
+ Clock
+ Globe
+ Fish Collection
+ Free Fish
+ AR Camera
+ Level Editor
-----------------------
Face Raiders
Street Quest
Street Puzzle
Face Blend
Mii Maker
Mii Plaza
Pedometer
3DS Sound (MP3 3D visualizer)
3D Camera +Editing software.
Charging cradle

..and a Web Browser, eShop, game demo's and 3D Movie trailers will be added in a May update...with 3D video recording and 3D TV added in another update.

That's a hell of a lot of stuff to tinker around with.

Welcome to 2004.
Since when did graphics make a portable successful?
The GameBoy **** on the GameGear and the NeoGeo Pocket.
The DS **** on the PSP.
The 3DS will **** on the NGP.

It's as simple as that.

After all these pre order deals, I wonder if everyone will get their 3DS on time... with the earthquake and Tsunami, I doubt all orders will be fulfilled.

why are people arguing about which is better the ngp or 3ds?? this is just a deal for the 3ds stop whinging about pointless fanboy wars!

It shouldn't make any difference. I suspect most of the hardware is already in Europe...

...but more importantly.... all the hardware is manufactured in China and shipped from there.

Ah, bonzobanana - see you've gravitated here from the Eurogamer forums, and spouting word-for-word the same anti-3DS propaganda you've been spouting there... have you got shares in Sony?

Fantastic price. if game hadn't already taken payment and my club card points I'd jump on this. Oh well hot deal for those that don't already have a preorder. Can't wait for next friday to come!! just a shame it had to be released a single week before I finish uni for easter!

Excellent find - Have some more heat!
