Gutted when Argos pulled its deal for £12.99, so have been hunting around for the next best (non-Russion) deal for the Steam keys.

NOTE: It's confirmed on the GAME website (just look at the first sentence of the Product Details tab), that this is the price for the Steam Key with Loot Bag DLC. Gamefly offer the same price with their 20% discount, but for some reason are not offering the pre-order bonus DLC.

Description of game taken from site:

"PAYDAY 2 is an action-packed, four-player co-op shooter that once again lets gamers don the masks of the original PAYDAY crew – Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains – as they descend on Washington D.C. for an epic crime spree.

The new CRIMENET network offers a huge range of dynamic contracts and players are free to choose anything from small-time convenience store hits or kidnappings, to major league cyber-crime or emptying out major bank vaults for that epic PAYDAY. While in D.C., why not participate in the local community and run a few political errands?

Up to four friends co-operate on the hits and as the crew progresses the jobs become bigger, better and more rewarding. Along with earning more money and becoming a legendary criminal comes a new character customization and crafting system that lets crews build and customize their own guns and gear."

Yes, I'm painfully aware that there isn't a retail version (i.e. boxed version) of Payday 2 available for the PC. Similar to syncshadowz, my Argos order was cancelled.

There are a few other sites that offer Payday 2 (via Steam), but none are from HotUKDeals-approved suppliers. I had searched on the GAME site previously, but couldn't find an offer for Payday 2, so hoping that this one is actually legit, and isn't going to be cancelled. It's only £5 cheaper than buying directly through Steam, so there's a chance that GAME have managed to negotiate a discount (he types while keeping fingers crossed... no mean feat).

Anyway - it's worth a shot. ;-)

Yeah i agree, the fact they don't state download means they are attempting to sell a hard copy?
I still have my order with amazon (£12.99) but have got the criminal career edition off steam for the beta..
If amazon come through my brother will take my amazon order off me

Game have had that payday 2 listed for a couple of months now, they seem to be the only legit company still listing it

Thing is, you put download in your title and it's not featured downloadable from game, therefore information is a bit misleading.

Hi,

Bit of an update - I contacted GAME this morning (just placed the order last night) to ask if they realised that the game was only available as a digital download. Depressingly enough, it seems to be listed on their system as a physical product, so I explained that the developers had confirmed that it would only be on disc for the PS3/Xbox360, and asked if they would be providing me with a Steam key on the 16th.

There was some discussion in the background, with the end result that they said they would look into the issue and get back to me (surprised that others haven't reported this). They couldn't confirm that they would honour the £19.99 price if it wasn't available in physical form, but suspected that it would be.

I pointed out that I would be suffering a loss - in that if the product (i.e. Steam key) wasn't delivered on the 16th, then I would lose out on the pre-order bonus content with no opportunity to source an alternative supplier. Bit of apologising then ensued... with the promise that they would get back to me as soon as possible.

So... I'll update this thread as soon as I hear anything, but do have a sense of foreboding. ;-(

So.... the morale of todays story is... We should all just buy from Steam?

No, the morale here should be that we continue to search for the best possible deals and share them with the community on HotUKdeals ... there are quite a few authorised Steam resellers out there that offer better deals than those on the Steam site.

However, in Payday 2's case... it's a case of hoping that GAME come through with an offer. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that ...

With an imminent release and BETA now losing its appeal, I think its going to have be a full retail/Steam price payment.

Id usually depend on the GMG style sites to trump them... But alas, its not to be.

Ill continue the quest - but it looks like £20 is the price to beat.

(Question, if you buy the £19.99 Steam Key elsewhere, then can you redeem on Steam, then buy the £5 upgrade from Steam?)

Steam is selling Payday 2 for £24.99, so that's the price to beat for me... the GAME offer of £20 (if it comes through) is okay, but not a huge discount. If you know of anywhere offering it for £20 - please let me know!

Usually you see the PC version being discounted lower than XBox/PS3 versions, so Payday 2 is a bit unusual in that respect; kind of wants me to wait for a reasonable offer - though I am pretty keen to play.

Don't think there's going to be an issue with the £5 upgrade to the Career Criminal edition, though I'm not as interested in the content - e.g. would prefer not to have a discount crime.net (prefer working my way through the purchases) and I'm sure there will be a lot of information about the maps, etc. on the Payday wikis before too long.

means you can upgrade to career criminal edition and start playing asap.

GMG have added it to there site now but it's at £24.99 (waiting for discount code)
yes you can redeem it on steam as they will give you the code almost instantly and the upgrade would work

Went into Game yesterday to try and pre-order this (as Steam purchases at Game result in the code being generated there and then).

They havent got it on their system yet, but if its gone live on the website, then im told - its going to go live in their next ePOS Update... which is today (he told me "Tomorrow" yesterday).

May be worth a call before making the journey - but should be available to buy over the counter today.

Just had a look at the Gamefly offer (20% off orders in July - expired yesterday, but they generally have codes every month), and sent them a mail asking about Payday, as they had a release date of August 30th on their site. I wanted to confirm that the date was just a placeholder, and that they wouldn't supply the game after the release date (thus not making you eligible for the Loot Bag pre-order bonus content). This was my reply:

"Thank you for contacting the GameFly Tech Team. Currently at this time we have not received the official release date for the game. As soon as we get an update, the product page will be updated.
Payday 2 will be available for download once the game is officially released. Unfortunately, the Loot Bag is not included with the GameFly version of the game.
Feel free to contact me with any more questions you might have. I am happy to help!
Zack N."

It looks like you can pick up the game for £19.99 (or could yesterday), but they won't honour the pre-order content (perhaps because of the discount they have negotiated with Steam?).

So, that means just trying over the counter at GAME as Silhouette suggests, ordering from Gamefly and foregoing the extra content, or finding a better deal?

;-(

This is on the GAME website:
Please Note: PayDay 2 on PC does not come with a game disc. In the box you will receive a code to redeem and download your copy of PayDay 2 through STEAM.

So yeah, this is legit.

There is another way to get it for £20,

Buy the PAYDAY 2 - Four Pack for £74.99
Charge your mates £20 over paypal the even after transaction fees it would still be over £18.7475 for each game.

I dont see any other retail offer giving it away cheaper but then again i cant find 3 other people to do this deal with.

Nice, I've been emailing/phoning customer support to try and get clarification on the fact that it's a Steam-exclusive title... passing on direct quotes from the developers/publishers (hard to find) and announcements on other sites (not as reliable). Glad to see they've finally put something out on their site to clear things up!

And as I mentioned - the Gamefly deal doesn't include the Loot Bag for some reason, so GAME is definitely the cheapest deal at the moment!
