great price do they take money now or on dispatch?

I paid via Paypal, and couldn't quite work out how to use my card on the site. But if paying by card, they take money on dispatch.

simplygames.com/faq…elp

When will payment be taken?
Payment for order will be captured when we dispatch your items unless your order was placed more than 28 days before the official release date. In this case your payment will be captured within 21 days of your order placed.

NOTE: Although we DO NOT immediately capture the transaction, some banks reflect the value of the order against your available balance immediately. In this case we have not actually captured the payment; the bank have merely 'reserved' the funds for us. This process is perfectly normal and is referred to as 'pre-authorisation'.

You and your wolife. Simply Games only accepts paypal, regardless what method you choose, you will end up paying with paypal which is not something that everyone keen to. Because of this reason I've had like 2-3 orders from them in the past two years only... Also, heat added pal. Hope you enjoy the game as I know how much you are wanting it.

Yeah, especially given that I barely get any hours of gaming time per week.

In that regard therefore, Wolfie2 definitely does offer weeks upon weeks of unparalleled gaming content.

Man... There's so much content. And so little time.

Might as well close down the gaming division of HotUKD now that the Game Of All Time is nearly upon us.

Don't know. Some would argue that the lights should have been turned off on Nintendo many moons ago...

I wasn't even thinking about getting this but that video makes it look immense!
Only thing I've not spent a load of time on FPS type games and it does look like you'd have to be better than average to get any where in it.

I don't care how cheap it is, I'm not buying it! Developers shouldn't be forcing their political opinions down our throats and in our eyeballs!

Dude, I don't give a s**t about playing games on the road. And given that handhelds aren't necessarily a "thing" in the West anymore, I assume that quite a few people are also, how do you put it, "missing the point".

If you ask me... I'm not missing out on anything. Especially given that Wolfenstein 2 isn't even coming out on the Switch until 2018. With it being a busted up port (at best), and costing at least £40 for a Day One copy.

Go justify your £300 spend to someone else.

And yes, I can make the comparison. For £300, I can do quite a bit actually. Like build a semi-decent PC. Or buy a Xbox One AND a PS4. With some change left over for, you know, actual games.

Dude, I don't even have a switch? Second.. a 'semi decent pc' for £300! Good luck with that.. third.. people don't buy a switch and then that's all they have? like it's a choice between the two and they can only have one or the other? They have pc's as well.. we're into GAMES not hardware! I have what was last year a beefy EVGA 1440p pc set up.. 3 ps4's X1 etc etc and when I buy the switch I'll have one of those as well.. I won't deem it pointless because it can't keep up I'll be enjoying the games! Comparing pc with ps4 is dumb enough but pc with N switch is mental?

I'm happy for you dude... Really am.

But I still don't care about the Switch. And given that I've only ever seen one in the wild since its release, most people don't care about its ability to "game on the go" either.

And no, tis not mental to compare the Switch with PCs or consoles. If only for the above reason. And because Nintendo are still competing for peoples' time and money. And for semi-conductor parts.

Also, since you emphasised games over the hardware, and given that we're both on HotUKD, it's worth noting that for the £300 spend on just the the base Switch hardware, I can buy about 20-30 GOOD PS4 games instead. And when one makes that comparison, there is literally no real reason for why I'd even opt for the glorified paperweight that is the Switch.

It's had two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time on it in it's first year.. If you like games you should be playing Nintendo ones, they're the most consistent developer in the world in terms of quality. There's a reason their stuff is all over 'Top XX Games of all time' lists, any fan of gaming that is ignoring them is doing themselves a disservice. It's like being a fan of animation and wilfully ignoring Pixar or Ghibli stuff, lunacy.

On topic: Pre-ordering anything with Bethesda's name on it is daft. 'The Evil Within' has had a 75% sales drop in the UK, both 'Prey' and 'Dishonored 2' before it plummeted in price despite their quality. I do think the game will be good, but on current form it's going to be £20 in a fortnight.

Great price Simply games has been really good recently. In case anyone isn't aware amazon.co.uk/Wol…h=1 Bit more expensive but ideal for the fans who can't justify the £90 (now £60!) odd quid for an action man figure (although the steel book looks nice) but want some extras.

"It's had two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time on it in it's first year.. "

That's obviously a matter of opinion. Sales don't corroborate your views as being fact. FIFA still beats every Nintendo owned IP hands down - even Pokemon (which Nintendo doesn't entirely own). And no, I don't even like FIFA.

"If you like games you should be playing Nintendo ones"

Again, that's a matter of opinion.

"Pre-ordering anything with Bethesda's name on it is daft."

Not really. Wolfenstein 2 is guaranteed to be played by me. As opposed to most of my Nintendo Wii U games that are still shrink-wrapped and sitting on the shelf - incl Zelda BotW. In that context, what is daft is buying something that I know I'll never really use. Like a Nintendo Switch...

£300 for the console, plus about £80 for the two games. That's what? £380? That's like paying £190 for ONE game. Or... That's like 30-40 PS4 games - including Wolfenstein 2, Prey, Dishonored 2, TEW2. Indeed, I could rattle off about 20 games that are on my "need to buy list". Are you trying to tell me that "two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time" (subjectively speaking) are worth more than the 30-odd videogames that I could buy for my PS4 instead?

Come on man, FIFA crushes everything. It's hardly a fair comparison.

I think enough corroborating opinion creates consensus. You only need have a poke on google to see their usual suspects in top 10 lists, top 100 lists top 1000 lists. (FIFA doesn't appear too often BTW) To pretend that that's all purely subjective opinion, undermines the value of any opinion. There's a reason so many of their games are held in such high regard, It's not luck, or misguided favouritism. It's because they know what they're doing. You can't have 99.99% of outlets saying the same things and it never hold weight. There's a tipping point.

To my mind, if you want to call yourself a fan of gaming then you need to have played 'Ocarina', 'Mario 64', 'Half Life' in the same way a film fan should have seen 'The Godfather' or 'Taxi Driver' they're part of the critical language of each art form, colouring everything the proceeds them. That's of value, don't pretend it isn't.

Everyone's got that list of "need to get through" but when something comes along that's getting perfect scores in 'Edge' or 'Famitsu' I take notice. it leapfrogs other things and becomes more of a priority. I think "two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time" will colour your enjoyment of games as a whole in a way that the uninspired sequel to a sequel on PS4 or whatever won't.

You should unwrap some of those Wii U games. They'll put a smile on your face.

I've played Ocarina. Mario 64. Half Life. All great games.

Godfather was good. Godfather 2 was better. Taxi Driver wasn't bad, although I didn't quite understand as to why people revere it so much. Maybe I need to see it again.

I watched Terminator a few days ago. And was watching Terminator 2 last night. The first still holds up as being the superior film. It's tighter, darker, and there's an over-arching menace conveyed throughout the whole movie. Second film has the better soundtrack though...

I also took advantage of Music Magpie's "BOGOF" offer on movies over the weekend, and decided to buy the following:

Casino
The Thing
Stand By Me
Field of Dreams
Tremors
The Ultimate Bourne Collection
The Lost Boys
Goodfellas
Clockwork Orange
The Matrix Trilogy

I stopped caring about what Edge had to say nearly a decade ago. Games TM became my more preferred magazine, until print lost its relevancy as a whole.

I'll bear your comments in mind regarding the Wii U. Bayo2 was amazing. And the system definitely does justify itself in certain regards. There's about 10 quality titles on there...

Also, for your information, I just bought pre-ordered AER and back-ordered The Surge from Base. Bought Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Arslan from Game. Don't ask me why... I probably know I won't be playing either of them. Impulse purchase maybe? And I might cancel the order(s). But that's the point... I could buy 30-40 of those kind of games before even considering the Switch/Mario/Zelda combo.

FINALLY! someone talking sense about 'The Terminator'! They completely ruined the character in T2. From a terrifying unstoppable killing machine... to a babysitter. The thumbs up at the end makes me cringe just thinking about it. Horrible.

I think it's the performance in 'Taxi Driver', he's so good in it. That people like that are around us is scary... thinly veiled psychopaths, that he gets away with it as well. It slowly pulls that mask away to reveal him. It's great. Decent monologues too, but as you'll know; 'Goodfellas' is the king on that front.

I usually get an Edge sub bought for me at Christmas every year. I think it's still worth a read, but there was a definite slump a few years ago where it didn't feel like it knew what it wanted to be anymore, but it seems to have found itself again. There're still great features in it, really good in-depth stuff, but to be honest; at £5.50 an issue I'm not sure I'd buy it myself anymore.

I think it becomes quality over quantity at a point. I do the "it's cheap, sod it and leave them sealed" thing too, but I know that I'll never forget 'Eventide Island' in 'Breath of the Wild'. Stumbling on it accidentally, early in the game, it seemed insurmountable and I made it through. Not sure you can put a price on moments like that, Nintendo seem to do it better than most.

Ya... regarding the quality over quantity thing, spending £40 on "glorified tat" (even if it is on my "to buy" list), takes me that much more further away from actually experiencing moments like what can be gleaned from the photo below. It's not my photo, and I am merely using it to illustrate an example, but for me... you can't put a price on experiences like that.
