They're not virtually the same spec. And this wouldn't need so much work. It's basically another Xiaomi phone they've already made with stock android. The pixel is a custom made device specific to Google's requirements.

I don't think anyone can explain the overpriced Pixel in detail though

Except the chipset and the screen, the most expensive parts of a phone....
Is the battery life on this expected to fall well short of the Note 4? I read one review which seemed to simply state that it would 'last the day'
You reckon this would be much of an upgrade from the Nexus 6P?

Yeh but realistically chips etc doesn't make a huge difference neither does screen and certainly not a potential £400-£500 as new pixel will be upwards of £700 I would think

Sadly, Google seem to have gone down the Apple route with their phone pricing in the last few years. I remember when the Nexus 4 was released it was a genuine bargain.
There is a Xiaomi Note 3 being released tomorrow using a 660 processor which is very fast.
This was 151 the other day, but I also bought this this morning. It's slightly cheaper in $ if you have a fee free card at about £161
I ordered it from Banggood at this price yesterday too, after cancelling my Redmi Note 4 order in favour of it. Don't forget 6% Quidco.
Tempted to get this as a replacement for my aging LG G4
Its annoying how a device like this is more than capable 99% of the time but when you need to take a good photo you're kinda stuffed. I'd pay more for a better camera but these Chinese phones seem to struggle with picture quality regardless of the price you pay.
Will they release a international version of this?
Too big for me. If only they had a <5.5 screen.

As I understand things, the Mi A1 is the Mi 5X with plain vanilla Android. If so, you might want to reconsider you comments about the camera after watching this review. BTW, there's a second associated video comparing the camera performance of the Mi 5X to the one in the Oneplus 5. This phone looks to me like a Redmi Note 4 but with an exceedingly good camera but at a very competitive price.

The decent camera is one of the reasons I'm going for this, it's better than on the G5S, maybe not as good as a flagship but very capable. That and the decent amplifer on board.

Any chance of Topcashback paying with the code?
Spec of phone looks amazing for price with stock android.
Thanks OP

the global version has a different product id, this version is Product ID: 1196064
Global version which only has an ' alert me when available ' option rather than preorder is Product ID: 1197747

now i'm no expert and these 2 might be identical but deffo check if its important to you. got to say it sounds like a cracking, parden the pun, phone and nice to see a decent camera on a cheapish phone
Damn that's a good price, just not quite upgrading my samsung note 4 over it.
pauldredge8th Sep

In a word "No"
Upgrade from a Samsung s5?I want to keep a decent camera, but want a bigger screen and more than half a days battery life. Oh and my Samsung is now incredibly slow. Was looking at the redmi note 4 prior to seeing this,is this worth the extra?
Is this like the new oneplus one? Oneplus getting expensive sigh

I was expecting that was going to be the case. 'Dual cameras' means twice the sh*t. I'm saying this as I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 myself.
I Bought an Xiaomi phone last year, battery packed up after 9 Months, trying to get it sorted was a long and lengthy process which took Months.
Scary really if you are paying Hundreds of Pounds to a Chinese based company makes it a lot more difficult to deal with repairs refund etc
Would be ideal if it had QC

This is a deal breaker for me also, ordered the redmi note 4 then gonna upgrade in a year or so want a phone like this one with qc and less bessel
