Edit: I'm stupid and this is an awful deal. Don't get it!

If you don't mind that someone else's grubby fingers touched it, I think this is a pretty good deal. It's slightly cheaper than the AWD-IT deal posted here recently (unfortunately no longer available) and it comes with 8 GB of DDR4. It's used but it comes with a one-year warranty which is the same as if it was new, I think. The RAM is only 2666 MHz. I don't know how much worse that is than the 3000 MHz the motherboard is capable of.

Incidentally, the motherboard has some sick LED lighting which you can see here! asus.com/uk/…NG/

Please correct me if I said anything wrong or stupid.

not sure if thats great value. Brand new that motherboard is 120 lets say. Brand new i7s are 290 atm, as low as 210 used I have seen. So at 410 for mobo and cpu brand new youre only really getting the ram for a low price and paying full price for everything else.

Not to mention there's no way of knowing how the previous owner treated it. Overclocking with inadequate cooling, clumsy installation etc.

How many cpu's have you had burnout or break. I've had 5 or 6 used and not one has died on me.

With a bit of quick browsing using Google shopping, and buying from PC world, AWD-IT and Ebuyer, you can have it all brand new and to your door for £431.92. Everything being exactly the same. For the sake of £16, I'd rather buy new, and get a 2 year warranty on everything!

Just because stuff is cheap, doesn't mean it's a bargain!

Personally, in the past 25 years of building my own PCs. I've had one CPU fry on me. Wasn't my fault or anything, it just went pop one day. Luckily it was still under Intel's warranty, and they replaced it. With no real problem, just had to fill in a form, and a woman called to asked a few more questions, and that was it. Sent, the popped one back free of charge, and less than a week later I had a new CPU. I put into same "PC", and and it's been working fine ever since. I installed it and used it no different than I did the one that decided to go pop.

In the past 25 years, I must have built 100s of PCs from scratch.

Aren't the CPU's 6700's not 6700K's as per the title?

You're right, the maplin site says nothing about the K.

Yes. In the same way some people have the same axe their grandfather had - it's had 7 new handles and 3 new heads, in that time, buy it's still the same axe.

Surprisingly, I built up a similarly spec'd machine for much less back in March

Asus Z170i Pro gaming for 92.55 from Amazon (after 20 mail in rebate from Asus)
i7 6700 OEM new from ebay for 205
Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2400MHz for 60 from Amazon
357.55 for all brand new parts, full warranty, back 6 months ago. Surely prices go down over time?

sadly the CPU alone has gone up by roughly £100 since then
