Is there a 12 month warranty

Has anybody got these used boxes before, are they chipped/banned from Xbox Live?

They HAVE to work on Xbox Live or GAME could get sued. You would defintly would get a refund.

My 7 years old son wants an xbox for his birthday in a couple of months and I know nothing about these consoles...is it worth paying extra for a 250GB console and what would be the advantage for a child of his age?

If you are planning on getting kinect games it's best to install them to avoid disc burn. Other than that there's a few download arcade titles he may like

in all honesty pal it is definitely worth getting the 250 gb but you can just buy a hard drive separate 4gb might seem a lot but your saved data takes that up best thing to do is look about but if you wanted you could get the 4gb and add a hard drive later on

thanks guys..very helpful...i might hold on and keep looking for a deal on the 250 ones

for this price you might as well go and get this. Then you can always add a hard drive of your choice for about £30. Official drives just pop in.

thanks..another question please..can you save the games on the hard drive and then play without using the disc? can i download games i borrow from friends and then play the games after returning the discs?

Yes you can save the games to the hard drive but you wont be able to use your friends games because you need to insert the original disc before you can play from the hard drive.

dont do it. bought a pre-owned for xmas. banned from xbox live. luckily sainsburys saved the day on boxing day!

I have got 2 2nd hand xbox 360's from Game. both returned within 1 month for my money back (dont know why I thought another try would be worth my time). The mosty recent one was a month ago and the 2nd hand console was in worse shape than the console I was replacing.... noisy.... scratched my disks... stopped reading the disk while playing games.... I wont bother again....

Not sure I'd risk it. Dont they only check the xbox powers on when they take them and that's about it?

these will go through strict testing and refurb proceedures. Will not be banned from xbox live. Work for game so know what they do. Would stay away from 4gb consoles unless you can get a hdd else where. People may argue that cloud saves make up for t, bu they dont.

As comment above stay clear of refurbished xboxses from this company. I bought the 250gb model only to return within a week. Refunded my money seen the same offer on the deals again purchased another one returned after 2 weeks. You have been warned.

Decent price but been burnt before with these "pre-owned" Xbox deals at Game. Replaced 3 times and ended up asking for my money back as they all had issues reading discs - not just 1 disc but ALL discs. Would avoid personally but maybe worth a punt if you didn't want to spend another £50 on a brand new unit.

is this available instore??

probably not their instore prices are never the same as their online prices

You can order anything in store for the web price.

I have had a preowned Xbox, ps3, Wii and 3Ds from GAME with no problems what do ever:

Looks like people above are just unlucky, plus there the only shop to give 12 months warranty on PO everywhere else is about 1 month!

Get a Ps3 and spend the money you would have used for Xbox live on Ps Plus. Much better.

Erm... no you can't.

If you have an old knackered xbox or can find one on a local forum, you can recycle the hard drive from the old fat models with a £6 conversion kit off amazon. You just need a torx set to get the drive out. It MAY work with other 2.5" drives too (I'm sure there will be a list of compatible of drives somewhere on the net if so). So if you have an old laptop or something lying around (or jump on ebay) you can get a 128/256GB (+4GB flash memory) very cheap. Far cheaper than the 256GB £199 RRP anyway!

We had an old Elite sitting around doing nothing for over a year which was beyond repair, the 4gb model (with the converter case) was a perfect solution for me (it's just not worth taking your chance on the old second hand xboxs, the failure rate is just too high), just bang your old HD in one of these and you're ready to rock!

I was trying to explain the above to the bloke who works in Game the other day for 20 minutes. He kept banging on about data transfer cables and "there's no need to buy something off amazon and take your drive apart. Just buy this data transfer cable". Plank! he even walked away raising his eyebrows to a colleague like I was an idiot, I can understand why he might THINK I needed a DTC, but I explained the same basic concept about 5 times (while he was trying to use some crappy sales patter to get me to purchase the more expensive 256GB model).

Unfortunately you can not just use any 2.5" hard drive the only HDD's that are compatible are a couple Western Digital Drives and a few Seagate drives, and even if you do luckily have one of these drive you need to use a program called HDDHackr to modify the firmware of the drive so that it is compatible with the xbox. i was lucky enough to have a compatible 250GB Western Digital drive, but just saying it is easier to dig out an old hard drive from a broken xbox that deal with all of that.

I'm guessing you bought the old phat 360 which had a flawed design and was indeed very unreliable!
The new slims don't have this flaw and run much cooler and reliably, plus if your lucky you might get an old dash which can be reset glitch hacked :-)
