Whats it do?

You can use it for certain games, and for voice control for menus and Netflix and stuff. It's a novelty that wears thin pretty quickly

Bear in mind if buying to use with the One S it needs an additional set of leads.
Heat from me. I was after one of these for a while. Managed to pick one up for £24 and it's now it's happily gathering dust on my shelf
oh they sell the S cable, only £32 extra

useful for Skype
Good price but it's probably worth saying that Kinect is practically dead. Good price if you're buying up the old Kinect titles that Microsoft pushed around the One launch, but the signs look like they're no longer bothering with it.

IIRC, they completely removed the Kinect port from the One S consoles and the upcoming One X looks to be the same story.

It's not a novelty if you set it up to turn on your TV and surround sound amp. Very useful for plex pause mute change volume and browse using voice commands. Had mine setup like this for 2 years now was able to put all my remotes away.
I use mine on my PC as a Mic... it's SUCH A GOOD MIC! I have it right in front of my speakers and it only picks up me...
I got one and then sent it back when they were going for 17.50 recently. Thought you could buy a cheap Ebay knock off lead from China but I couldn't find one.
I REALLY wanted to like this and went out of my way to get the whole xbox system and set up with kinnect so my little'uns could learn to say 'xbox on' and make stuff happen.

What a dissapointment. It was supposed to be so sensitive it would detect people's heartbeats but it's so crap it can barely figure you when you're waving at the screen.
Ordered thanks. Cheap enough just for the mic really.

Sounds like you've not got it configured correctly, did you go through the set up? Incl. Ambient sound, yellow grid on floor etc?

Standard. What games are good wit it ?
If people want a Kinect just for Twitch streaming, you should be aware an update is coming to enable third-party web cams off PC to work on Xbox One.

No doubt Microsoft will sponsor a cam with a built-in mic to maintain Cortana voice control -just like they paired the Xbox branding with a Seagate External HDD.

Can't argue at £15 though, especially considering the 2yr warranty. Camera quality is great and basic voice commands work well enough for switching between games and apps quickly.

If you have to buy the PSU for an S or upcoming X console, it's probably a better idea to wait for the update and look at decent PC webcams.
Are there any games worth getting for use with Kinect ?
I find the voice commands handy, along with the scanner for codes. Works well if you want to stream your gameplay via Beam or Twitch
nice, I want to buy one for 3D printing
Anyone know where I can get a cheap connector so I can use it on pc?
I think 'pre-loved' sounds better :-p

I found it excellent with formula 1 2016 as you can ask information about your tyres, your team mate, the car in front/behind etc, and ask to pit in. I was also using it the other day (I think on Forza Horizon 2 or whatever one has "Anna" as your helper).

I've thought about this. I read Kinect is a great cheap 3D scanner. Also can be used to turn any surface touch sensitive, plus lots of other cool things.
All in all, probably better piece of kit for PC users than console users.

With the original Kinect I remember reading a story saying they were being used in bomb disposal robots because they were better and much cheaper than what else was available at the time. Great piece of hardware, just not implemented very well by Microsoft.
I have an Xbox One S, so do I need an adaptor for this to work?
I found the Kinect to be quite flakey. Brilliant when it worked but often it either didn't start with the xbox, or stopped after a few minutes. Great concept but Microsoft let it whither on the vine as they often do.

Yes you will need the adapter, £29.99 from Microsoft which is frankly outrageous, shame they stopped the free adapter promotion.
If anyone in Notts is after one I'll sell you mine, never used...
I use one on my PC for Windows Hello.

Yes please. Is this the adapter and Kinect? if so let me know how much you want for it.

The whole shebang. I even have a degree in this stuff.
So sad to watch my daughter stood in exactly the right position saying 'xbox on' about eighteen times until it eventually responded. Positioning, configuration, ambient noise all standardised and set, but unfortunately just like pretty much everyone else just gave up on it.

I couldn't ever get the x360 one to work due to space. On the x1 version, I was having a nightmare with "legs" until I got it configured with the correct grid, I wasn't getting that one previously, tweaked, got correct grid never had a problem. I did have an issue with ambient, as I need to be very quiet (game late as work evenings / nights) turned up tv volume a little, moved an ornament, problem solved (only during config, put it back and turned it down once it was). Had an issue with my chandelier reflecting as it was in front of me for any climbing games but I've shifted myself a little. Touch wood haven't had an issue in over 6 months.
Even had it set up in my bedroom and had it set as my bed as the floor at one point (I just used arm movements and voice at that stage. Did work for that fantasia game too!).
It really is a great piece of kit, shame they removed the arm navigation controls, felt very minority report-esq.
It can have issues if you have a French doors with bright sunlight spilling in.
I never used the voice turn on command, did have it do it by accident when I walked in the room once (facial rec?), scared the life outa me. My friends use it though, they usually power cycle, and remove plug and brick from the wall to discharge seems to resolve any issues they have. I just hope you can get it working how I've experienced as it feels awesome.
