Wrong, argos dont sell this laptop with these specs. This is decent deal.
Why do they put 8gb ram in these gaming laptops when it isn't that expensive to go to 16gb.

16GB RAM is not that important for the average user. The rest of the specs are not that impressive for the price. Decent GPU, crappy CPU, small SATA SSD mainly for Windows, 144 Hz that you will never be able to use outside old games. Much better to go for 60Hz screen but a CPU that doesn't suck, such as the newer HP Pavillions for around the same price.

Portability.
They have been better priced, but this is a decent deal. Those models have good cooling if i recall correctly.
I paid exactly the same price on ebay-ao.com a few weeks ago, however my laptop has:

1) an i7-9750h CPU instead of the i5 one
2) a 512gb SSD with no secondary hard drive

All in all I am very happy. I only tested one game so far, Devil May Cry 5 on high settings, on average I got 110 fps while gaming.

Only 2 things I want to warn you about:
1) The fans can be noisy even during non demanding tasks, such as watching a video
2) The sound from the speakers is really really poor. They are place on the front bottom, which means that by placing it on any surface (a table, a bed and so on) will result in muffled sound. I am forced to use an external speaker. My 5-year old Asus laptop with B&O certified speakers is miles ahead.

You have to keep in mind, they skimp out on those features to keep the prices low and also to have a smaller chassis. Sound from laptop speakers is always awful anyway, even on ones that have better speakers. If you are an audiophile it's always better to connect to an external soundcard and monitor speakers/headphones.
for a gamer like me, this is really cool
