The Card is currently £18.99 @ Amazon right now. ((Link Here))
Huh thats awesome, looks like time to upgrade my memory
Where can you get a standard switch for £200ish new?
Try telling that to the kids who want it with Pokemon this Christmas.
Nintendo knows exactly what they are doing.
They could have made it £150 from the outset, just Nintendo greed. They want to profit from hardware and software sales even though historically the hardware has always been a loss leader with profits gained on the games, they just want to double dip at the consumers expense....
Do you not realise how fast the technology industry moves? It is perfectly feasible that this wasn't possible 2 years ago due to excessive heat.
Prepare to be disappointed, because it won't.
I haven't had any issues playing MUA3 in handheld mode. Odd.
Nintendo is a business and a business needs to make profit. Sony and Microsoft put out powerhouses, sell them at a loss, and hope to recoup all of that on the games, accessories and online subscription. Nintendo does its own thing.
But I do agree with everyone above that the Lite should have been cheaper. I think £150 is a bit too cheap, but something around £170 - £180 would have been an easier pill to swallow.
Yes, highly likely by the time of release.
Great post. I won't be getting a lite as I already have a switch but can see it will be appealing to some. But the price seems a bit high. In the US, the lite is 66% the price of the switch in dollars, so if Nintendo had applied that to the UK, it should have been priced around £185, so I'm sure they could have got to £179 RRP. Would have made a lot more sense to me but we'll see. Me being a Nintendo fan hopes it doesn't flop, the switch is a great platform.
The dormammu boss fight is awful, it zooms right out and the characters are tiny
Due vat etc in the uk most product in us are equal price in the uk apple and others follow this struc
US prices don’t include sales tax which varies from state to state. Price is actually the same give or take a few quid.
Oh right, thanks, forgot about Vat. Suppose we were lucky to get switch for £279 then when it was $299 in US
Its made by Nintendo, even if it does flop it wont go down in price.
If it’s handheld only. Pointless.
Have a look at some recent deals, there have been a few 20% eBay codes in the last few months bringing console + game bundles to about £230-£240. E.g. this:
hotukdeals.com/dea…339
I took advantage of that and a Currys deal at the end of may and got a switch plus Zelda, mario odyssey and smash Bros for £300 all in. I'm quite happy about that, and absolutely delighted with the switch itself
There's actually a 20% off eBay code on right now but only for selected sellers, dunno if any of them are doing switch deals I'm afraid
They want to profit from hardware and software sales....
The audacity!
Probably sarcasm, but seriously why the hell should they? Sony and Microsoft don't and still do just fine, if anything Nintendo are in a stronger position than their rivals now after raking in huge profits from the Switch since launch, if ever there was a time they could afford to take a hit, or even just make a bit less profit on the hardware now is it.
The components of the Switch are ancient in technical terms, the Tegra X1 it uses dates back to 2015, by now Nintendo will be getting them for peanuts, most of that £200 for a Switch lite is pure profit, then they charge £40+ for all their first party games, which lets face it is what ppl buy the hardware for.
If you want to play multi platform games any other system will have a far better version. So they get tonnes of profit on the games too as everyone will want first party games with their Switch...
'Why the should they?'? Why the hell wouldn't they!??? They're a business not a charity! If Switch is selling great at the price it is there is 0 incentive to reduce the price
Maybe to maintain that momentum? If the temperature of this deal is anything to go by ppl might not be quite so eager to buy the new lite model.
I hope the Switch lite fails as it is a overpriced under specced cash grab but the Switch did so well ppl will probably buy it anyway regardless of how poor the value proposition is....
That's exactly what they are doing. Releasing a new product at a cheaper price. They have very good momentum. Look up on tinternet how well Switch is doing.
This deal is cold because it's 2 items combined for the exact same combined price that they are available separately for. The microSD card is available for £18.99 on its own, and the Switch Lite preorder price most places is £199.99.
Also deals going cold on here is no indication at all that a product will not do well.
People can be harsh with the voting on here. If they think a particular product is not worth the money or simply don't like the product.
And unless it is an actual saving it'll most likely get voted cold. (Unless it's a hard to find item that's become available again, perhaps in limited supply)
It's called brand recognition mate
People will buy thousands of them still
A lot of places I'm seeing now are £190, it's not out and we're getting closer to them numbers
