Seems like a decent price to get a PS vita. You can also get vita memory cards preowned from Grainger games which are £9.99 for an 8GB one or £24.99 for a 16GB one.

Got one tucked in the back of a cupboard. Memory card prices let this machine down big time.

Here's the writeup I promised yesterday. This will go through the basics of how to hack the console and get it to play Vita and PSP games. Feel free to ask any questions about the Vita process, I cannot answer anything about the PSTV as I do not have one. This may seem complicated with a pile of different names of apps and fiddling with config files etc but it's actually pretty straight forward once you get into it. You can go from a fresh clean Vita to playing hacked games in less than 30 minutes.

What Do I Need?
A PS Vita with firmware 3.60 or lower, a memory card of any size and internet access. There is NO downgrade possible for any console on higher firmwares. There's rumours there may be an exploit for higher firmware coming but it could be months off. If you have lower than 3.60 you need to upgrade yourself manually, use this guide: wololo.net/201…60/

How Do I Hack It?
It's very simple, just head to henkaku.xyz using the browser of your console and tap Install. It will download and install the hack automatically (do NOT let it turn off while its operating). If the browser throws up errors when you tape Install restart the console and clear the browser cookies and try again. It may take a couple of tries to install correctly. You will now have Henkaku installed and a new bubble named VitaShell will be installed, this will be essential for you later.

What Do I Do Then?
Use your Vita charger cable to connect the Vita to your PC through USB. Open up VitaShell and hit select, this will now open the Vitas memory card on your computer like a regular SD card. First thing you should do is go to enso.henkaku.xyz/ and download the enso.vpk file linked there. (.vpk files are install files for Vita apps & games) Enso is a version of Henkaku that will automatically be applied anytime you reboot, the normal Henkaku must be reinstalled if you restart etc. Copy the VPK folder over to the main directory you have open, hit the O button on your vita, scroll down to the enso.vpk and hit X to install it. Then you should have a new bubble in LiveArea which you can launch to install ensō.

How Do I Get Vita Games To Play?
This is the newest development to the scene, previously you had to download games off torrents and have the right app to install it etc. Now it's as easy as the FreeShop was on the 3DS. First you need to install a plugin called NoNpDRM, follow the instructions here: github.com/The…Drm. Once that's installed get another app called pkgi from here: github.com/mmo…kgi. Once that's installed you need to open up the Vita memory card on your desktop again and create a new folder called pkgi and inside that create a text file called config.txt with the line "url pastebin.com/raw…xdb" on it. Save that, disconnect the Vita and open up pkgi. It will refresh and you;ll get a list of every game available on the PSN store. Simply hit X on the game you want and it will automatically download it from the official PS servers for you, strip the DRM using the NoNpDRM and install it. Download speeds will max at about 2mb/s as that's what the Vita can do. I just installed this myself this morning and it's incredibly easy to do.

What about PSP Games?
To play PSP games just install the app called Adrenaline from here: github.com/The…ine. That will install another bubble called Adrenaline which will boot into a full hacked PSP. To get games onto there, download the ISO of the game from whatever site you want and put it into the ISO folder in the pspemu main folder on your memory card. It'll then appear in the game list in the PSP.

I've had my OLED model since 2013 and still use it often. Playing Bastion at the moment and looking forward to Secret of Mana remastered releasing on the Vita in February. Once you suck up the (stupidly expensive) memory card investment, it's a fantastic little console that has held up really well. It has A LOT of really good games catering to all tastes. Some notable favourites: Sine Mora, Wipeout 2048, Hotline Miami, Gravity Rush, Flame Over, Downwell, Tearaway, TxK, Severed, Spelunky, Virtua Tennis 4, Killzone Mercenary, Sound Shapes, Muramasa, Lumines, Salt and Sanctuary, OlliOlli 2, Super Stardust Delta, Pixeljunk Shooter, Dragon's Crown.

these easy to hack yet lol

Yeah, as long as it's on 3.60 or earlier.
You can also use SD2Vita cards (in the game slot) on 3.60 to use cheap MicroSD cards instead of the outrageously priced Vita memory...
I'm not sure what Game do to the firmware with preowned Vitas - May the odds be ever in your favour.

Fair doesn't necessarily sound the best condition? Anyone any experience of it?

Yeah was thinking the same

Hopefully some of the games will come down in price soon. They're quite stubborn price wise compared to say the PS4. Not a lot of physical releases at all these days for the good old VITA. A shame, because I think it's excellent. PS+ has been brilliant for it though.

When are the good games coming out for it?

If you like the kind of games popular in the Japanese market, all the time. If not, probably never!

Theres one on ebay for 80 with best offer boxed and looks in good condition; would look into that one (offering the guy 70 will probs work) before picking up something in "decent" condition from game. Their "new" items are often not even in "decent" condition

I got mine from eBay brand new condition, for £55. Bit of patience and making offers but you can get one in better condition than fair, and know what you're getting for less

Got one tucked in the back of a cupboard. Memory card prices let this machine down big time.

Get it from Brighthouse, 1. Should get your money back, 2. You'll get a nice big holiday compensation.

Yep memory card and the stupid lack of r2 l2

I bought one mint from CEX a couple of years ago, and I've absolutely loved it. Memory cards are the big sticking point. I bought a 32GB card (also from CEX) for about £40 and I've never regretted it. Every time Bubaman knocks out one of his Playstation deal threads there's always loads of rich pickings for Vita owners - especially if you like Indie and JRPG games.

Typical Sony gimping/sacrificing a system just to try and shove their proprietary format/technology into the market.

It could have done well.

Hacked mine a few backs and love it. Got Enzo running on it now so emulators galore, plus PS1 games and off the back of that got a 64gb memory card running as primary memory.

Great machine and loads of games still coming out for it despite Sony's best attempts at killing it off.
I'll never understand why they dropped the ball on this and the PS TV, such a shame.

listing on game website is a bit crap; box is the slim version but don't think they say that anywhere on the description.

If you have ps3/ps4 with plus and have been collecting the games each month this a great way to get a handheld wthiout having to spend any money on games; due to the limited library most of the best ones have been on plus at some point.

Ps vita are now easy hackable as long as firmware is on or below 3.60. If firmware is below 3.60 it must be updated via offline updater to 3.60 before applying exploit.

There's a web bases exploit that allows you to run ripped games on vita running 3.60

This also works on pstv on same firmware

As for memory cards again there is a hack on 3.60 to allow yo to use a microsd card in the game slot for hacked vitas using an adapter so you can use any microsd and load games from it to run on the vita.

Nice unit if you can get a 3.60 or lower unit

Another good (hidden) use for these is the PS4 remote play. Every PS4 game is playable remotely on this, if you've got a decent home broadband it works over the internet as well.

Not sure why Sony don't push the feature harder. It's gives the PS4 "Off-TV" Wii-U functionality, I used it quite a lot when I owned one.

Great if you're are jrpg fan. Limited appeal otherwise, unless PS4 remote play.

Fantastic
Bought with tcb & points on game card

Bought it just after release and played Burning skies and then it gathered dust until I sold it 3 years later. A waste of a great console. Expensive memory cards and games, which never seemed to go down in price despite their age. Should have had a PSP type disc system to watch films you could on that.

This is rather interesting. I've had mine for a while and it hardly gets used as I've stopped subscribing to ps+.

Bought mine brand new for £80/90 bundled with some games and a 8gb card from a german Amazon deal on here.

Is there a risk of bricking the device?

Quite excited now

Remote play for me is a big no on vita
Most games dont allow you to change the button layout on the vita
Sometimes the l2 r2 l3 r3 controls end up being unsable or even on the touch screen

On games like shadow of mordor where you have to keep the r2 button pressed most of the time it's like a game of twister

It depends on the game but yeah... I never got why they didn't allow you to pair a PS3 / PS4 pad...
Both Sony? check. Both Bluetooth? check. Sensible use of compatible hardware? fail.

These days, I use the far superior Windows Remote Play client - 1080p (from the Pro) and no RSI

You'll get a better nick vita for the same price on eBay - probably with games too.
Love the vita, not convinced this is a great deal.

I've used mine extensively for Remote Play and agree wit you. It's fine for a lot of games, but for others...nah.

I've moved on to using my phone, which attaches to a DS4 via a suction grip for remote play. It's more or less perfect. Add to that it's good for emulators as well.

yikes.

My biggest problem with the system is that it only has single shoulder buttons. It does have make shift touch controls which you can use as L2 and R2 but it is a bit fiddly.

Makes a lot of the PS1 back catalogue a bit awkward to play.

For the ps1back cat games get a l2 r2 grip
They work really well by adding l2 r2 triggers and still allow you to use most of the rear touch pad.
The newer hori remote play assist which adds r3 l3 is not so good as most games have r3 and l3 on the front touch screen.
The hori grip covers all the rear touch screen

Personally I'd rather buy hardware with some warranty and this is what this deal has that the 2nd hand purchases on eBay won't. It is worth considering that and factoring it into the price.

do they even sell these new ?

It has Sonic Allstar Racing (its no Mario Kart but a fun enough Kart game), Lego Games (Batman 2 & 3, Marvel, Avengers, Jurassic World, Star Wars etc etc), Batman Arkham Origins, Marvel vs Capcom 3, SF X Tekken, CounterSpy, Rogue Legacy, Disney Infinity 2.0 (with a little BT base), Gravity Rush, Jax and Daxter, Hotline Miami, Wipeout 2048, Everybody's Golf, Touch My Katamari, Super Monkey Ball, Tearaway, Olli Olli, Virtua Tennis 4, Killzone Mercenary.

There's a lot of fantastic games for it. Just happens to be a hell of a lot of JRPG too.
