Oh dear, sounds like someone who thinks Steve Jobs created the mp3 player. …Oh dear, sounds like someone who thinks Steve Jobs created the mp3 player. No, they existed a long time before the ipod, just Jobs made one and marketed the s**t out of it and people with a lot of spare cash and no knowledge of what was going on in the world thought he was a genius and invented it. The first Apple Watch came out in 2015 - the Android Gear Live was around in 2014. But for people with a lot of spare cash and no knowledge of what was going on in the world thought the Apple Watch was the first of it's kind. Nope. This only screams "Apple Watch" to people with a lot of... you got it.

I never said Apple Watch was the first smart watch in the market. What I meant was that design literally looks like Apple Watch. My point makes sense since Apple Watch was released in 2015 and this one, well it’s not even out yet, but still looks very familiar.Your comment therefore loses point.

alot of products existed before Apple’s version, but Apple made them the way they should have been, the way people want them.that’s their art.making things as close to perfection as possible.

Any difference between the Chinese and International version? Is it just the packaging or is the firmware different?

Yep but thats the Chinese version - extra £3 for the convenience of the international version

Can it be used as a Bluetooth MP3 player?

There's no description. What are the functions of this?

Smartwatches go even further back than that. Here's the Sony SmartWatch which was launched March of 2012. Apple only tend to hop on board when everyone else has experimented and they think they can provide a compelling experience with the knowledge gained from those experiments. In other words when they produce a product in a category that category is no longer the wild-west that tech tends to be.

Back on topic, this looks like an enhanced version of the mi-band more than anything. Maybe I didn't get all the details from that gearbest video but does it display smartphone notifications as smoothly as say Android Wear? Does it have a microphone and can it call up Siri, Google Assistant, whatever?

Hot!
Brilliant battery life.
can it be synchronised with Strava?

Spot on. This watch looks like all modern sports watches, with the large square face and big digits. Reminds me of the TomTom Runner, but doesn't scream it

GPS? Link with Strava? I pre-ordered the mi band 2 like this and paid £28, now you get that for £12 in flash sales - worth waiting for more detail and lower price?

£53 for a digital watch that doesn't do much and needs charging everyday.

Jesus wept.

I doubt the authenticity of xiaomi products from gearbest now.... The MI band 2 I bought from them recently does not measure the same way as the MI band 2 which I had got from geekbuying. Com........ It's way off.. And even ridiculous.... I was just sitting at office desk and i got a notification tht I completed my goal of 8k steps.....

Looks like it's going to be model up miband. Looks chunky and doesn't seem to do much more than the band does from the video

I agree with you

Even though my Apple Watch is £25 a month (Got the SS model) I'm happy because I can finally go out the house without my Phone. All I did was downgrade my contract (instead of upgrading my phone) and now I pay £15 a month for that, so I'm still £10 a month cheaper than what I was paying for the same amount of data.... the watch is unlimited too.

For me it's a really nice alternative to owning a high end phone, now I can just have a mid ranged one for cheap. I still do everything on my Watch that I did on my phone.... the only thing I need my phone for now is to play Podcasts while I'm at work. I can use the watch for that, but the battery only lasts like 4/5 hours doing that.

I'll get 2 days battery life, unless I'm really using it hard, then it'll only do one... but I go to sleep every night so I can charge lol.

+1

It does add some other options, like GPS tracking, but if you're anything like me that doesn't matter if you can't send your runs from the i fit app to runkeeper (or your preferred tracking app)

The Mi Fit app is compatible with google fit though, so that might work for some people.

Basically, I'm a big fan of the mi band and this doesn't add much and looks ugly in comparison.

This one doesn't have GPS so not great at all. Might as well buy a the Mi Band2 imo. That said the model up that has GPS is excellent. Paid £75 for it and am really happy gearbest.com/sma…d=4

Does it have NFC for Android Pay?

iWatch!

If you use Strava and like to link to the watch be careful, I ordered the Makibes G03 and even though it has active heart monitor Strava won't find and link to it. The Mi 2 was a easy to link and would give active readings if I had the Mi app running along side Strava.

How does this one does not have GPS? How did you reach this conclusion? The subtitle is "GPS Pedometer Waterproof Call Reminder". And I thought that GPS is the whole point of this watch over say Mi Band 2.

It must be a new version then. By why call it original? The original one didn't have GPS which is why I went with the other model. See here: gearbest.com/sma…tml

Past tense mate, its pure profit driven now. You suffer the low features and battery life you get given.
This is nothing like Apples, it uses memory LCD for battery life. Its worth the trade off to many though the high end round Pace looks better, again memory LCD.

Anyone wanting GPS, this is better. Above this you may need a Garmin.

This is the standard price for this according to that video. Not sure why this is so hot

So can this be used as. Hands free phone like Apple watch ?

This is the xiaomi smartwatch you want.... The amazfit Pace

m.gearbest.com/sma…tml

The price fluctuates a little, as does everything on gearbest because it was £76 yesterday. But with GPS and heart rate monitoring, 2gb for music storage, it's a brilliant watch.

Also shows compass, stopwatch, weather, alarms, and has a variety of sports programmes, including the likes of treadmill running and indoor cycling too. I've had mine for 2 weeks now so still early days, but i do love it.

What third party apps do you use with it? I'd want all my runs in runkeeper for example..

I know it's compatable with google fit?

you can use strava with it. otherwise it works on its own just fine. :-)

It looks more like the Asus Zenwatch anyway. Which was released in 2014.

But what's the point though when you need to use your phone to respond to any notifications?

Seems like a completely pointless device not least because you need your phone in close proximity for there to be notifications on the watch.

This is not an smartwatch, it is a sportwatch, comparable with:
- Garmin forerunner 235: ~200GBP
- TomTom Runner 3: ~100GBP
The key of this watch is the built-in GPS, heart monitor, very long battery life, and IP68 (fully water resistant) which allow you to track outdoor running, indoor running, cycling and swimming distances.
Also it gives you extra functionalities: phone notifications, sleep monitor, weather, stopwatch, etc...
It is by far the cheapest with those features.

Do not buy this watch it you want something comparable to Apple watch or Android wear in terms of apps, respond to notifications or control your mobile.

With the exception of measuring swimming distances, a smartphone can do all that.

It also doesn't have the huge bezels that this has!!

It is not very often a ref stops play to get his smartphone out to check the timer.
